This experimental study measures the emotional and physiological responses of customers as to cafe facade design. It is done through eye-tracking and EEG response experiments. Specifically, their visual concentration and EEG concentration are analyzed in line with their facade preferences. The findings are as follows. First, the correlation between their facade preferences and visual concentration on facades is as follows: Highly preferable facades have a lower visual concentration frequency than the less preferable facades. Second, an analysis of $12{\times}12$ lattice division of facades shows that all facades have a high visual concentration for signs. The exceptions are F(6), F(7), F(8), and F(10). There is no correlation between the facade preferences and visual concentration behaviors for particular facade elements. Third, an analysis of prefrontal lobe's facade concentration shows that there is no correlation between the preferences and EEG concentration. However, there are big differences in the prefrontal lobe activity of 12 subjects depending on the facade. In particular, nine of them (3, 9, 13, 14, 15, 28, 36, 38, 43) show an activated prefrontal lobe as to the highly preferable facades-F(1), F(2), F(3), and F(4). However, such activation is not detected on the less preferable facades-F(9), F(10), F(11), and F(12).
Purpose: This study is an investigation of the effects of long-term smart phone usage and of stretching on muscle stiffness, concentration, and visual acuity. Methods: Forty healthy young adults voluntarily participated in the study and were measured for muscle stiffness, concentration, and visual acuity before smartphone usage and after 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 90 minutes of smartphone usage. The participants were randomly allocated to the intervention group (n=20) and the control group (n=20). Five minutes after the stretching exercise and eye exercise intervention, the participants were remeasured. Results: After long-term smartphone usage, increases in muscle stiffness and concentration were statistically significant (p<0.05), whereas decreases in visual acuity were statistically significant (p<0.05). After the stretching exercise and eye exercise intervention, muscle stiffness significantly decreased (p<0.05) and visual acuity significantly increased (p<0.05). Concentration, according to the stretching exercise and eye exercise intervention, showed no significant pre- or post-test difference. Conclusion: The results from this study indicate that long-term smartphone usage effectively improved concentration but increased muscle stiffness and decreased visual acuity. Appropriate stretching and eye movement during long-term smartphones usage should mitigate the effects on muscle stiffness and visual acuity. Furthermore, smartphones should be considered an effective tool for concentration training when coupled with the development of appropriate applications.

In this paper, we aimed to analysis EEG signals related to concentration of adolescents using letter visual stimulus to induce the concentration. The visual stimulus tasks were searching errors of propositional particle in several sentences. In the EEG signals, we specially focussed on SMR waves and mid-beta waves according to the results of a preceding research. Therefore we presented position of channel and frequency band of mid-beta significantly related to the concentration waves as the experimental results.
Purpose: This study was aimed to investigate effects of breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) increase on visual field and readable visual field. Methods: 23 males in 20s (average age $21.17{\pm}2.19years$, body mass index (BMI) $22.09{\pm}2.16$) were selected and administered the amount of alcohol to reach 0.05% and 0.08% BrAC calculated by BAC (blood alcohol concentration) Dosing Software program. Then, visual field and readable visual field test with Vision Disk were conducted. Results: Visual field are measured as $74.41{\pm}15.97^{\circ}$, $64.98{\pm}17.93^{\circ}$, and $58.33{\pm}19.01^{\circ}$ (p=0.000) and readable visual field as $21.93{\pm}12.71^{\circ}$, $17.41{\pm}11.36^{\circ}$, $14.26{\pm}9.93^{\circ}$ (p=0.006) in 0.00%, 0.05% and 0.08% BrAC respectively. As breath alcohol concentration increased, both visual field and readable visual field decreased. Conclusions: BrAC increase with drinking could be the cause of safety accident by decreasing visual field and readable visual field, it is necessary to raise awareness.

In this study, we designed a model that can measure the level of user's concentration by measuring and analyzing EEG data of the subjects who are performing Continuous Performance Test based on visual stimulus. This study focused on alpha and beta waves, which are closely related to concentration in various brain waves. There are a lot of research and services to enhance not only concentration but also brain activity. However, there are formidable barriers to ordinary people for using routinely because of high cost and complex procedures. Therefore, this study designed the model using the portable EEG measurement device with reasonable cost and Visual Continuous Performance Test which we developed as a simplified version of the existing CPT. This study aims to measure the concentration level of the subject objectively through simple and affordable way, EEG analysis. Concentration is also closely related to various brain diseases such as dementia, depression, and ADHD. Therefore, we believe that our proposed model can be useful not only for improving concentration but also brain disease prediction and monitoring research. In addition, the combination of this model and the Brain Computer Interface technology can create greater synergy in various fields.
Purpose: This study was aimed to investigate effects of increased breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) which is the standard measurement of alcohol consumption in sobriety test under current laws on visual acuity and values of objective refraction. Methods: For twenty three males in 20s (average age $21.17{\pm}2.19$ years, body mass index (BMI) $22.09{\pm}2.16$) were selected. Distance and near visual test was performed at BrAC of 0%, 0.05% and 0.08%, and objective refraction with open-field auto-refractometer was also performed at different BrAC. Results: As breath alcohol concentration is increased, distance visual acuity was decreased, which was statistically significant, but near visual acuity was not changed. Also, values of objective refraction tended to be increased towards minus as breath alcohol concentration is increased. Conclusions: As breath alcohol concentration is increased, corrected visual acuity is decreased and refractive power is towards minus, it is necessary that visual acuity test and refraction measurement should be conducted under sober condition.

This study investigates the evaluation on simple comparison and seeking hidden figures works under LED illumination conditions according to three types of color temperatures (7000K, 5000K, 3000K) in the classroom, Since the objective of this study is to develop an electric lighting conditions suitable for students in the classroom, the performance of concentration and visual discrimination by students under three types of LED illumination conditions were analyzed. The 4 kinds of simple tests concerning with concentration and 2 types of tests for visual discrimination were developed, and test results under natural light and LED illumination by 3 types of color temperatures were analyzed. There were differences on concentration as well as visual discrimination performance in most cases by t-test ($p{\leq}0.05$). For further analysis among three types of color temperatures and natural light, ANOVA tests were performed. The test results shows that illumination condition plays an important role when students try to concentrate on simple comparison of characters, figures or colors and seek hidden figures. The experimental results of this study might be applied to designing better luminous environment.

It has been known that the particular brain waves are induced when a human concentrates. In our study, we aimed to analysis the brain waves related to human concentration using visual stimulus to induce the concentration. The visual stimulus tasks were presented to subjects for concentration. We measured EEG signals with several channels and analyzed the signals into several frequency bands. In the measured EEG signals, we analyzed to focus on theta waves, SMR waves and mid-beta waves. Therefore we presented the results to investigate characteristics of the EEG signals related to the human concentration.
This study is about the visual appreciation by sex with the analysis of time range of observing data which was got through observation experiment with the space of lobby in hospitals. The observation data of the subjects who observed the space include the frequency and time, through which the process of visual appreciation could be evaluated with the definition of the frequency and the time of observation. First, the fact that men had higher frequency of observation than women means the former had more movement than the latter, and another fact of their fewer times can be understood as the time of their staying was shorter. That is, even though the men had more movements of sight, they showed the feature of staying shorter. Second, the rate high and low of observation frequency and times made it possible for observation characteristics to be defined as 'intensive search' 'active search' 'fixed concentration' and 'search wandering.' The definition of understanding this process of visual appreciation can be available for a frame of effective analysis of observation characteristics according to the passage of time. Third, the intense search is the case of 'high frequency' having the feature of high visual appreciation owing to the active visual actions for acquiring information. Men were found to have more intense search which decreased gradually as time passed, while women showed the feature of many times of intense search. Fourth, it was found that with many observation data in a certain range of time the subjects had fixed concentration, where women were found to have repetitive fixed concentration along with the change of observation time while men were seen to have more observation tendency for fixed concentration. Fifth, at the cross tabulation of frequency and times, men had the feature of dispersed visual appreciation while women had more distinction between fixation and movement, which revealed that there is surely the difference between men and women in the process of visual appreciation.
