Visual Impact Assessment of the Urban Landscape with Public Participation (주민참여에 의한 도시경관의 영향평가 : 서울시 중계동 아파트 계획안을 대상으로)

  • This study conducted a visual impact assessment of an apartment complex project proposed in Jungkye-dong, Seoul. Three design alternatives of the project-alternatives 1, 2, and 3-which differed in form, color, scale, and arrangement of buildings were simulated with computer image processing technique. The simulations were presented to the public who were mainly residents in the project area, and visual impact resulted from the alternatives was assessed by them. Their responses were then statistically analyzed. It was found that, in terms of compatibility with the surrounding landscape, alternative 1 was the most favourable because it was more traditional, natural, and diverse than alternatives 2 and 3. At the same time, the alternative was most preferred by the public because it was more plain, natural, and diverse than other alternatives. It was suggested that the visual impact assessment with public participation conducted in this study would help both planners and the public to make more intelligent decisions.

  • The purpose of this research was to identify the difference between expected and actual corporate image in the market and to verify the possibility of green-oriented corporate identity (CI) visual design as a useful method for communicating with consumers. In addition, this research suggests how green-oriented CI visual design can effectively convey corporate image to consumers. The methods of research used to achieve this aim were case studies and questionnaire surveys. In regard to the results, the difference between consumers'perceived favourable corporate image and companies' expectation about corporate image was found. Moreover, the results show that green-oriented visual identity (VI) design can improve corporate image. In turn, the gap between the expected and actual perception of corporate image can be decreased through green-oriented design. Based on these results, a method of effective development for green-oriented VI design is recommended.

The Effects of Lower Muscle Activity of Squat Exercise on Supporting Surface and Visual Feedback (지지면과 시각적 피드백의 차이에 따른 스쿼트 운동시 일부 하지 근 활성도에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: This study evaluates the effects of lower muscle activity of squat exercise on supporting surface and visual feedback. Methods: The subjects include 30 healthy subjects. To measure muscle activation of the lower limb during squat exercise(stable and unstable surface, visual and unvisual). For evaluation of muscle activation(rectus femoris, biceps femoris), was measured using the Electromyogram, EMG was used. Results: The results shows that Rectus Femoris(RF) and Biceps Femoris(BF) muscle activations were significantly (p<0.05) difference in unvisual-unstable surface(USUV), unvisual-stable surface(SUV), visual-unstable surface(USA), and visual-stable surface(SV) during squat exercise. Conclusion: Squat exercise can improve muscle activation of the lowe limb. particularly, unvisual-unstable surface during squat exercise can improve muscle activation of the lowe limb.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest visual resource management methods for the national parks and adjacent areas, where visual impacts by high rise buildings such as hotel, condominium, etc. become serious problems. In this study Soraksan National Park has been selected as a case study for landscape management planning. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Comprehensive landscape management planning for National Parks and adjacent areas is necessary to solve visual impact problems by high rise buldings such as hotel, condominium, etc. 2) It is suggested to investigate visual resources and conceptual landscape management ideas, to select landscape control points and lines, landscape management areas, and to prepare building height control plan for proper landscape management plan. 3) In case of Soraksan national park, the landscape management plan includes three landscape management areas : Landscape preservation area, General landscape management area, and special landscape management area. 4) In the part of special landscape management area, it is necessary to introduce landscape impact assessment system to more effective landscape management.

  • The purpose of this study is to find major factors which are influential in visual preferences of pergolas and shelters. 33 pergolas and shelters were selected for the study by slides test method. Major findings of this study are summarized as follows. 1. In the degree of visual preferences, pergolas and shelters which are traditional Korean ones in harmony with surrounding environment, and provide sculptural effects, unique images and shade, obtain relatively high scores. 2. The result of factor analysis showed that [dimensions] of visual preferences factors for pergolas and shelters were composition and use and place. 3. The result of regression analysis indicated that the best predictors of visual preferences for pergolas and shelters were atmosphere, aesthetics of form, harmony with surroundings, unique image etc.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the suitable suit design of mid-aged men by examining visual effects in Physical and Psychological side aspects. I used convenience sampling by considering sex and age distribution. These methods were used to analyze data that were frequency analysis, variate analysis, centesimal scale, primary factor analysis, three primary variate analysis, duality variate analysis, equation variate analysis and Cronbach's multiplex range verification 1. Image perception of men's suit was analyzed with arrangement, numbers of button, pattern and the shape of one's body and was divided into charming, youthfulness, modernism. affection and manly. 2. 1) There are partly resemblance difference in physical visual effect by the shape of body and suit design. 2) There are partly resemblance differences in psychological visual effect by one's shape and suit design. In conclusion arrangement, number of button and Pattern are very important to give an effect on whole visual effect man's suit. Also, these were felt differently in each types of body Therefore it is confirmed that the type of body is important fluent to make people perceive.

  • We propose a new visual tracking system for grasping which can find grasping points of an unknown polygonal object. We construct the system with the image prediction technique and Extended Kalman Filter algorithm. The Extended Kalman Filter(EKF) based on the SVD can improve the accuracy and processing time for the estimation of the nonlinear state variables. By using it, we can solve the numerical unstability problem that can occur in the visual tracking system based on Kalman filter. The image prediction algorithm can reduce the effect of noise and the image processing time. In the processing of a visual tracking, we can construct the parameterized family and can found the grasping points of unknown object through the geometric properties of the parameterized family.

  • 사용자 중심의 메뉴 기반 인터페이스를 설계하기 위해서는 인간의 지식 구조를 이해하는 것이 중요하다. 인간의 지식 구조를 이해하게 되면, 인터페이스를 통해서 전달된 자극들이 만들어낸 개념들이 어떠한 관계를 가지고 정신 모형(mental model)을 형성하고 있는지 알 수 있다. 인간의 지식 구조는 MDS (Multidimensional Scaling)과 Trajectory Mapping을 이용하여 Visual Concept Map 으로 나타낼 수 있고, 이것을 바탕으로 인간의 지식구조를 시각적으로 이해할 수 있다. MDS 는 인간의 머릿속에 자리잡고 있는 개념들의 상대적 위치를 알려주고, Trajectory Mapping 은 개념들 간의 연결 상태를 보여준다. 즉, Trajectory Mapping 을 통하여 개념들 간악 인지적 정보를 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 MDS 와 Trajectory Mapping 을 이용하여 핸드폰 메뉴로부터 전달 받은 시각적 자극들에 악해 형성된 개념들에 대한 인간의 지식 구조를 Visual Concept Map 으로 시각화하였다. 그리고 이렇게 시각화된 지식 구조를 바탕으로 메뉴 구조를 개발하였다. 본 연구 결과, MDS 와 Trajectory Mapping 을 이용한 인간의 지식 구조의 시각화는 사용자 중심의 메뉴 기반 인터페이스를 설계하는데 유용하게 쓰일 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

  • A visual servoing method has been proposed based on disturbance observer to eliminate the effect of the off-diagonal component of image feature Jacobian, since performance indices such as measurement sensitivity of visual features, sensitivity of the control to noise and controllability could be improved when an image feature Jacobian was given as a block diagonal matrix. In this paper, experimental results of disturbance observer-based visual servoing are discussed where Samsung FARAMAN-AS1 6-axis industrial robot manipulator is employed. Also, the feature saturator is proposed to stabilize the disturbance observer loop by saturating the differential changes of the image features.

  • This research aims to find processes for developing the design language for the visual notes and design meaning of street furnitures. The result of this study are as follows. 1) The design language implies to get how to represent condensed symbols of the street furnitures. 2) The configuration of the street furnitures has their visual note and design meaning of community identity, represented their own detail design languages. 3) The detail design languages are useful to solve the matters of what design elements of the street furnitures can be composed of the visual notes and design meaning. 4) The detail design languages can be applied to the pattern of tools of Microsoft Office Word.
