The percentage of subject to visit dental clinic was 64.3%, to Regular checkup was 25.9%, cure of caries was 23.5% for last one year. The percentage of reasons not treated 'less importance' were 12.6%, 'fear of the dental clinic' was 10.6%. The average number of brushing teeth were 3.1. 56.0% students brush their teeth for two ~ three minutes. But intention of visit to the dentist were 'only when treated' was 51.7%, 'only when there is pain' was 10.1%. The intention of oral education was 54.6%, the content of the desired education 'whitening' were 34.5%, 'prevention of bad breath' was 19.2%. Dental health information acquisition path 'internet' were 42.0%, 'family or friends' was 25.6%. Susceptibility was 2.47 points, severity was 2.00 points, benefit was 4.03 points in oral health belief. Compared to students who needed dental treatment but did not receive treatment, oral health beliefs were higher among those who were treated(p<.001), students with cavities showed a higher level of oral health belief than those without cavities(p<.001). There was significant corelation between 'number of caries' and susceptibility(r=.330, p=.002), severity(r=.25, p=.019). The result should be reflected in the development of effective program for nursing students' oral health care.

  • Dental treatment for the disabled should be a customized that considers the characteristics and degree of cooperation of each disabled patient. There are additional considerations during implant treatment and tooth extraction in disabled patients. Since some brain lesion disorder or cardiac disease patients may be taking antiplatelet or anticoagulant medications, it is necessary to evaluate whether these medications should be discontinued before an invasive procedure. Precautions should be taken for patients with heart valve disease considering the risk of infective endocarditis, especially during invasive dental procedures. Moreover, disabled patients may have difficulty in following instructions and cautions. There are specific considerations for each stage of implant treatment in disabled patients. In the case of patients who are in the pre- or post-transplant state, it is necessary to assess their general condition and oral disease due to the risk of infection. Since disabled patients with various systemic diseases may visit the dental clinic, it is important to understand their characteristics and treatment process in order to flexibly adjust the dental treatment plan accordingly.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial effect of silverized elastomers on mutans streptococci in dental plaque. Methods: Forty patients undergoing orthodontic treatment were randomly placed into 1 of 2 groups. We examined the maxillary right and left central incisors and premolars, and the mandibular right and left canines of all participants. We ligated the right maxillary and left mandibular teeth of the participants in group 1 with silverized elastomers and ligated their contralateral teeth with conventional elastomers. We ligated the left maxillary teeth and right mandibular teeth of group 2 participants with silverized elastomers. Each participant visited the clinic 4 times at 3-week intervals. We applied the elastomers to the teeth on one side of each patient's mouth during their first visit. During the second visit, the elastomers were removed for microbiological analysis and replaced with steel ligatures. During the third visit, we used silverized elastomers to ligate the teeth contralateral to those treated on the first visit. The elastomers were removed during the fourth visit, and microbiological analyses were performed. We compared the quantity of bacteria on silverized and conventional elastomers at the 0.05 level of significance. Results: The percentage of mutans streptococci was not significantly different in cultures of dental plaque from the silverized and the conventional elastomers (p > 0.05). Conclusions: There was no significant difference between the antimicrobial effect of the silverized elastomers and that of the conventional elastomers.

  • Single visit monolithic restoration can be proceed with digital workflow which consist of intraoral scanning, dental CAD(computer aided design) and restoration milling with CAM(Computer aided manufacturing). While zirconia has more than 900MPa of flexural strength compared with 400MPa for lithium disilicate, shortened fabricating time of lithium disilicate is considered to be a better choice for fabricating single visit full contour monolithic restoration. However, new zirconia materials which are TZI C(Dentsply Sirona) and LUXEN Enamel(Dental Max), new induction heating method of sintering furnace, and new sintering protocols for MoSi2 heating elements sintering furnace offer significantly reduction of full contour monolithic zirconia restoration fabrication time with greater translucency. These new developments lead single visit zirconia restoration in reality.

  • With the increasing popularity of dental CAD / CAM, the kinds of materials that can be used and the range that can be utilized are also increasing. One of the biggest advantages of a dental CADCAM is that you can make a final prosthesis with one visit, but in case of zirconia or a complex aesthetic prosthesis, it is often difficult to make it in one day. In this case, temporary PMMA material can be used to provide a temporary crown with aesthetic and functional properties to the patient and can be used as a test crown or template for the final prosthesis. And if you are with a 5-axis milling machine in a clinic, you can make a temporary crown precisely to a large extent in a short time. In this article, various applications and clinical cases of PMMA temporary crown in the clinic will be presented.
