VR HMD에서의 비전 테라피 활용을 위한 기술 요소 연구 (A Study on Technical Elements for Vision Therapy based on VR HMD)

  • 최근 스마트폰의 대중화 및 저가형 헤드 마운트 디스플레이(head mounted display, HMD) 보급으로 가상현실(virtual reality, VR)이 다양한 분야에 응용되고 있다. VR HMD는 시각, 청각 등 인간의 감각기관을 통해 실제와 같은 체험을 가능케하는 인터페이스 기기이다. 양안 디스플레이, 360도 콘텐츠 구현, 깊이 정보에 의해 구현됨에 따라 인간의 여러 감각기능 중 시각과 관련이 있다. 기존의 연구는 주로 멀미, 시각피로와 같은 유해성 측면에 대한 감소 방안 연구가 주로 이루어졌으며, 시각 치료 등에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문은 VR HMD 에서의 비전 테라피 활용을 위한 기술 요소 도출 및 활용 가능 분야를 알아본다. 이를 위해 기존 사례연구 및 기술 요소를 분석하여 비전 테라피 16 분야를 도출하였고, VR HMD 시표 활용을 위한 광학적 파라미터를 도출하였다. 본 연구 결과는 VR HMD 기반을 둔 비전 테라피 시표 개발에 활용 될 것으로 기대된다.

마비측 시야 유도 보행 훈련과 리듬 청각 자극 훈련이 만성 뇌졸중 환자들의 보행에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Gait Training in Chronic Hemiplegia Patients with Inducement to Vision and Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study is to see the effect of walking when training for chronic stroke patients, Affected side vision impairment induced gait training with rhythmic auditory stimulation in parallel. Methods: This study was the general walking training group, the training group was divided damage induced affected side view, affected side view damage induced by rhythm auditory stimulation training three groups. Intervention period was 4 weeks. 5 times per week, per 30 min entered arbitration. Affected Side vision impairment induced induction training was conducted by installing a red cones, rhythmic auditory stimulation was applied to a regular rhythm training using a smartphone application (Metronome). Paired t-test was performed to see the difference between each group and before the intervention. One-way ANOVA was used to find out the significance probability between each group. Statistical significance was set at 0.05 probability. Results: Regular walking group, rather than affected side vision guided walking group could see increases in the FGA and DGI (P<0.05). And vision impairment induced affected side view and rhythmic auditory stimulation induction training this group than in the combination group walking group obtained higher scores on the FGA, DGI score(P<0.05). Conclusion: If you want to enforce certain rhythmic auditory stimulation of the visual field and side damage induced during gait training for stroke patients will be able to expect a better effect.

시지각 훈련이 사이버 멀미에 대한 융복합적 효과 (The Effect of Convergence Vision Therapy on VR Cybersickness)

  • 본 논문은 사이버 멀미 증상과 시각 기능과의 관련성을 알아보고 시지각훈련이 사이버 멀미의 증상을 감소시키는 효과가 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 대상자는 건강한 성인 남성으로, 15분 동안 동일한 가상 현실 프로그램을 체험하도록 한 이후, VR 만족도 점수와 사이버 멀미 수준에 따라 편안한 가상현실 프로그램 시청자 그룹(CVR 20명)과 불편한 가상현실 프로그램 시청자 그룹(UVR 20명)으로 분류하였다. 모든 대상자에게 시각기능 검사를 실시하였고 UVR 그룹에게 시지각 훈련 프로그램을 주 1회 40분 12회 적용한 후 시각 기능과 SSQ 설문지를 재평가하였다. 복시를 가진 대상자는 UVR 그룹에서 55%, CVR 그룹에서 5%로 나타나서 UVR 그룹에서 월등히 높았으며, 두 그룹간의 입체시, 외사위, 폭주근점(p<.01) 및 버전스 기능(p<.001)은 차이가 나타났다. 시지각 훈련 후 UVR 사용자 그룹의 SSQ, 입체시, 폭주 근점, 버전스 기능의 변화가 긍정적으로 변화하였다(p<.01). 따라서, 사이버 멀미 증상은 시각기능과 관련이 있으며, 시지각 프로그램은 사이버 멀미 증상을 완화시키는 방법으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

양안시이상 교정의 일상사례 (Case Study of Vision Therapy)

  • 조절이상과 양안시 이상을 진단하기 위해 검사를 실시하였다. 양안시 이상 발생 빈도는 다른 연구결과와 비슷하였는데, 환자들은 비정시의 교정 뿐 아니라 진단된 문제를 교정하기 위해 몇 가지 처방이 필요하였다. 그 중 복시와 안정피로, 간헐적 흐림 동의 증상을 가진 폭주부족으로 판단된 두 명의 환자에 대해 완전교정 처방과 함께 4주 동안의 시기능 훈련을 실시하였다. 이들은 폭주부족, 조절부족 등 하나, 또는 혼합형 양안시 문제를 가지고 있었다. 4주 후 결과에서 실시한 시기능 훈련은 폭주력을 향상시키는데 효과를 보였으며, 계속적인 관찰이 필요하다고 판단되었다.

Study on Distortion and Field of View of Contents in VR HMD

  • Recently, VR HMD (virtual reality head mounted display) has been utilized for virtual training, entertainment, vision therapy, and optometry. In particular, virtual reality contents are increasingly used for vision therapy and optometry. Accordingly, high-quality virtual reality contents such as a natural vision of life is required. Therefore, it is necessary to study the content production according to the optical characteristics of the VR HMD. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a proper FOV (field of view) of contents according to the distortion rate. We produced virtual reality contents and obtained distorted images by virtual camera. The distortion rate is calculated by using the distorted image. It is proved that the optimal FOV of the VR content with the minimum distortion is $90{\sim}100^{\circ}$. The results of this study are expected to be applied to the production of high quality contents.

Successful treatment of central retinal artery occlusion using hyperbaric oxygen therapy

  • Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) is considered an ophthalmologic emergency. The prognosis of this disease is very poor. Currently, there is no generally effective therapy available to treat CRAO. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can increase the volume of oxygen delivered to the ischemic retinal tissue until spontaneous or assisted reperfusion occurs. We report the case of a patient who experienced sudden visual loss due to CRAO that was treated with HBOT. The patient was an 81-year-old woman who presented with CRAO in her right eye (OD). She exhibited "hand motion" visual acuity before treatment. She underwent three sessions of HBOT at a pressure of 2.8 atmospheres absolute, performed over 3 days. After 4 days in hospital, her visual acuity improved to 0.4 (OD) for far vision and 0.5 (OD) for near vision. Her vision was stable without the supply of oxygen; therefore, she was discharged.

수직편위를 동반한 간헐성외사시 소아에 대한 시기능 훈련 후 임상 사례 (A Clinical Case of Vision Training for the Pediatric Intermittent Exotropia Combined with Vertical Deviation)

  • Purpose: The purpose is to study the effects of the vision training, as a non-surgically treated vision therapy, on the objective and the subjective symptoms of the patients with intermittent exotropia combined with vertical deviation. Method: For the boys at the age of eight with intermittent exotropia, who report a long-distance blurred vision, dazzling, and intermittent diplopia more than ten times a day, the vision training had been practiced for seven weeks. The objective and subjective symptoms have been examined after six months from the end of the training. Results: The objective and the subjective symptoms have been improved after the seven weeks training and the improvements lasted after six months from the end of the treatment. Conclusion: Non-surgical treatment for the patients with intermittent exotropia, including intermittent exotropia combined with vertical deviation like this case, should be considered as an auxiliary treatment and on the preferential basis.

정상성인의 자제 안정성과 시각을 이용한 균형훈련 (Postural Stability and Balance Training Using Vision in Adult)

  • This study was designed 1) to quantitatively observe changes in static platform and 2) to observe balance performance using vision. Seventy-five subjects participated in the study. Subjects comprised 39 males and 36 females(mean ages=23.8 years) without neurologic and orthopaedic impairments. Static balance was measured with eyes open and closed. Subjects was required to move the cneter of balance curser in a counterclockwise for 30 sec. The effect for the COBx(-) suggests that subjects tended to maintain their weight slightly In the left. The time taken and the accuracy to move the center of balance from target to target was 14 sec, $49.47\%$. The body sway upon reaching the target was 7.3 AP sway and 11.88 LR sway distance. In this study, the data developed could be appropriate to use for sine comparisons when balance training patients with neurologic or orthopaedic impairments.

혼란스러운 시각의 영향에 따른 보행요소들의 평가 (The Effect of Disturbed Vision on Gait Parameters of the Young Healthy Population)

  • BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the disturbed vision on the gait distance parameters on the healthy young population. SUBJECTS. Twenty four healthy college aged individuals are randomly assigned to both a condition with a strobe light and the other condition without a strobe light. METHODS. The instrumentation used for gait analysis is the GaitRite electronic walkway system with a personal IBM computer. The examiner naked all the subjects to walk 6 times on the gait mat without the strobe light and. 6 times on the mat with the strobe light. The first 4 trials were practice and the last two trials were recorded in both conditions. The gait parameters analyzed were as follows : velocity, cadence, step length, and heel to heel base of support. RESULTS. Paired samples t-test used for this study did not found any significant differences between the two conditions because the p-values that were analyzed on the experiment were Utter than 0.05. The gait parameters that were analyzed included cadence, velocity, left and right heel to heel base of support, and left and right step length. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION. Based on this population, the condition of disturbed vision via the effect of the strobe light was not significantly challenging to compromise the body's sensory systems. However, in the elderly population, these systems can undergo age related changes. Visual changes rapidly decline in people 60 to 80 years of age and changes in the vestibular system include $20-40\%$ reduction in hair cells.
