Parametric design systems serve as powerful assistive tools in the design process by providing a flexible approach for the generation of a vast number of design alternatives. However, contemporary parametric design systems focus primarily on low-level engineering and structural forms, without an explicit means to also take into account high-level, cognitively motivated people-centred design goals. We present a precedent-based parametric design method that integrates people-centred design "precedents" rooted in empirical evidence directly within state of the art parametric design systems. As a use-case, we illustrate the general method in the context of an empirical study focusing on the multi-modal analysis of wayfinding behaviour in two large-scale healthcare environments. With this use-case, we demonstrate the manner in which: (1). a range of empirically established design precedents -e.g., pertaining to visibility and navigation- may be articulated as design constraints to be embedded directly within state of the art parametric design tools (e.g., Grasshopper); and (2). embedded design precedents lead to the (parametric) generation of a number of morphologies that satisfy people-centred design criteria (in this case, pertaining to wayfinding). Our research presents an exemplar for the integration of cognitively motivated design goals with parametric design-space exploration methods. We posit that this opens-up a range of technological challenges for the engineering and development of next-generation computer aided architecture design systems.
When up-scaling algorithms for visible light images are applied to infrared (IR) images, they rarely work because IR images are usually blurred. In order to solve such a problem, this paper proposes an up-scaling algorithm for IR images. We employ adaptive dynamic range encoding (ADRC) as a simple classifier based on the observation that IR images have weak details. Also, since human visual systems are more sensitive to edges, our algorithm focuses on edges. Then, we add pre-processing in learning phase. As a result, we can improve visibility of IR images without increasing computational cost. Comparing with Anchored neighborhood regression (A+), the proposed algorithm provides better results. In terms of just noticeable blur, the proposed algorithm shows higher values by 0.0201 than the A+, respectively.
In this paper, the illuminating optics of asymmetric light distribution was studied, which allowed the light distribution to be uniform even for short-range irradiation on a wide illumination area. In the case of a light installed at a short distance, the light is not diffused enough because of the short irradiation distance. For this reason, it is difficult to satisfy uniformity of illumination. In addition, lighting design for asymmetric distribution is required because the lighting device is installed tilted, for visibility. Therefore, the design of lighting systems with asymmetric light distribution could achieve uniform illumination of the target surface even under short-distance irradiation. This was then applied to the license lamp, a lighting system featuring short light irradiation distance, to confirm that it satisfies the legal standards.

Helicopter-related collision accidents with structures mostly occur at landing, especially in a limited visibility environment, which necessitates some secondary equipment like a radar that can generate stationary clutter image. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that makes an image of stationary ground clutter in two dimensional range and azimuth angle domain. We present a mathematical model for the received signals from each clutter patch in the iso range ring and analyze their clutter and Doppler characteristics, assuming that a helicopter-borne radar has a rotational antenna. We propose a filter structure, which suppresses side lobe signal components while extracting a main lobe signal component, and suggest a solution for a problem stemmed from the filtering process. Finally, by conducting a simulation we show the performance of the suggested imaging algorithm on a two dimensional virtual scenario of the topographic clutter.
This study investigated the development of a fire alarm system with evacuation lighting and voice alarm functions. The performance of a fire detector and system with independently built-in evacuation lighting and voice alarm functions was confirmed for early recognition of fire and to allow visibility of the evacuation route in the event of fire. This new system satisfied model recognition and product testing technological standards with 1.62 lx average illumination, 89.7 dB average sound and 86.1 dB average voice. From additionally testing the evacuation performance of this new system, it was confirmed that the evacuation time decreased by 63.08% to 67.82% under the experimental conditions compared to conventional systems. The new system can minimize fire damage by setting off voice alarms to prevent failure of fire recognition and by flashing emergency lighting to secure the minimum required visibility range for evacuation. Therefore, it is considered that it will be utilized as a fire alarm system with appropriateness and usefulness by considering people with hearing or visual impairment.
This paper presents and analyzes laboratory test results of Equalization Digital On-Channel Repeater (EDOCR) using ATSC(Advanced Television Systems Committee) terrestrial digital TV broadcasting system. The EDOCR laboratory test, which is done at CRC(Communications Research Centre) Canada, is classified to receiver test, transmitter test, and synchronization test between transmission and reception frequencies. The receiver part includes feedback signal, random noise, single echo, multi-path ensemble, and NTSC/DTV interference test. The transmitter part includes out-of channel emission, quality of transmitting signal, and phase noise test. By the field test results, the receiver part of the EDOCR eliminates average 5.5 dB of feedback or single echo signal in range of 0 to 11 ${\mu}s$ and has average 18.6 dB at TOV(Threshold of Visibility) under random noise environment. Also, the transmitter part of the EDOCR satisfies the specification of US FCC(Federal Communications Commission), and frequency difference between transmitter and receiver is zero.

In case of a fire inside a tunnel, unlike ordinary roads, it is very difficult for a driver to obtain visibility, and a large accident is highly likely to occur. In this study, the smoke behavior, visible distance, and CO concentration of a jet fan were analyzed using the NIST fire simulation (FDS). All analyses were set to HRRPUA (Heat Release Rate Per Area) 3.6MW/m and all the analysis times were set to 600s. In all analyses by CFD, the results were confirmed at y=30m and y=110m, and smoke behavior analysis, visible range analysis, and carbon monoxide concentration were confirmed according to the diameter and flow rate. As the size and flow rate of the jet fan increased, the visibility distance was high at y=30m, and the concentration of carbon monoxide was also confirmed to be 0 ppm. Therefore, proper setting of the jet fan diameter and flow rate will be an excellent solution for fires in tunnels, and taking refuge at upstream area of a re-ventilated fan can reduce the number of casualties.
Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of single-shot whole thoracic time-resolved MR angiography (TR-MRA) to identify the feeding arteries of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) and reperfusion of the lesion after embolization in patients with multiple PAVMs. Materials and Methods: Nine patients (8 females and 1 male; age range, 23-65 years) with a total of 62 PAVMs who underwent percutaneous embolization for multiple PAVMs and were subsequently followed up using TR-MRA and CT obtained within 6 months from each other were retrospectively reviewed. All imaging analyses were performed by two independent readers blinded to clinical information. The visibility of the feeding arteries on maximum intensity projection (MIP) reconstruction and multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) TR-MRA images was evaluated by comparing them to CT as a reference. The accuracy of TR-MRA for diagnosing reperfusion of the PAVM after embolization was assessed in a subgroup with angiographic confirmation. The reliability between the readers in interpreting the TR-MRA results was analyzed using kappa (κ) statistics. Results: Feeding arteries were visible on the original MIP images of TR-MRA in 82.3% (51/62) and 85.5% (53/62) of readers 1 and 2, respectively. Using the MPR, the rates increased to 93.5% (58/62) and 95.2% (59/62), respectively (κ = 0.760 and 0.792, respectively). Factors for invisibility were the course of feeding arteries in the anteroposterior plane, proximity to large enhancing vessels, adjacency to the chest wall, pulsation of the heart, and small feeding arteries. Thirty-seven PAVMs in five patients had angiographic confirmation of reperfusion status after embolization (32 occlusions and 5 reperfusions). TR-MRA showed 100% (5/5) sensitivity and 100% (32/32, including three cases in which the feeding arteries were not visible on TR-MRA) specificity for both readers. Conclusion: Single-shot whole thoracic TR-MRA with MPR showed good visibility of the feeding arteries of PAVMs and high accuracy in diagnosing reperfusion after embolization. Single-shot whole thoracic TR-MRA may be a feasible method for the follow-up of patients with multiple PAVMs.

Ahn-heung Proving Ground(APG) of Agency for Defense Development(ADD) is the only weapon test site which has been performing firing tests for many kinds of missile, artillery and ammunition. APG has been performing the firing tests of so many times every year. The tests related to missiles, artillery and ammunitions cover 80% among the quantity of annual test events. The target area of many kinds of missile, artillery and ammunition is on the sea. Therefore, APG has its marine firing ranges which were approved by the ministry of Defense. Both weapons and ships can run into each other on the sea. APG has to monitor and detect the positions of the ships in the specific dangerous zone on the sea. The positions of the ships are detected by Scanter 2001 radar and GPS100 detection radar. Evading the time period when the ships appear very often on the sea may be a good solution to keep the maritime safety. And evading the place where the ships appear very often on the sea may be a good solution as well. This paper is to analyze the ships' distribution characteristics of marine firing range, which are to raise the efficiency of many kinds firing tests which have been performed in APG of ADD. Ship distribution data from February 2014 to December 2016 were used in this paper. Ship distribution was analyzed with monthly data, seasonal data and etc. The number of the ships in approved sea area is higher in the morning than in the afternoon, and in fall than other seasons, and from August to November, and below 0.5 m in the hight of wave. Using the these conditions, we can raise the test efficiency of many kinds firing tests and guarantee maritime safety. The number of the ships in approved sea area is entirely unrelated to visibility of the sea. The time period when the number of the ships are high on the sea is morning. The season when the number of the ships are comparatively high on the sea is fall. APG of ADD could raise the efficiency of the firing tests and improve the maritime safety, using the analysis results of the characteristics on the ship distribution.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of reducing the absorbed dose to the ovaries and the quality of the CBCT image when using the HalcyonTM Fast kV CBCT of cervical cancer patients of child-bearing age who performed ovarian transposition Materials and Methods : Contouring of the cervix and ovaries required for measurement was performed on the computed tomography images of the human phantom (Alderson Rando Phantom, USA), and three Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dosimeter(OSLD) were attached to the selected organ cross-section, respectively. In order to measure the absorbed dose to the cervix and ovaries in the TruebeamTM pelvis mode (Hereinafter referred to as TP), The HalcyonTM Pelvis mode (Hereinafter referred to as HP) and The HalcyonTM Pelvis Fast mode (Hereinafter referred to as HPF), An image was taken with a scan range of 17.5 cm and also taken an image that reduced the Scan range to 12.5cm. A total of 10 cumulative doses were summed, It was replaced with a value of 23 Fx, the number of cervical cancer treatments, and compared In additon, uniformity, low contrast visibility, spatial resolution, and geometric distortion were compared and analyzed using Catphan 504 phantom to compare CBCT image quality between equipment. Each factor was repeatedly measured three times, and the average value was obtained by analysing with the Doselab (Mobius Medical Systems, LP. Versions: 6.8) program. Results: As a result of measuring absorbed dose by CBCT with OSLD, TP and HP did not obtain significant results under the same conditions. The mode showing the greatest reduction value was HPF versus TP. In HPF, the absorbed dose was reduced by 39.8% in the cervix and 19.8% in the ovary compared to the TP in the scan range of 17.5 cm. the scan range was reduced to 12.5 cm, absorbed dose was reduced by 34.2% in the cervix and 50.5% in the ovary. In addition, result of evaluating the quality of the image used in the above experiment, it complied with the equipment manufacturer's standards with Geometric Distortion within 1mm (SBRT standard), Uniformity HU, LCV within 2.0%, Spatial Resolution more than 3 lp/mm. Conclusion: According to the results of this experiment, HalcyonTM can select more various conditions than TruebeamTM in treatment of fertility woman who have undergone ovarian Transposition , because it is important to reduce the radiation dose by CBCT during radiation therapy. So finally we recommend HalcyonTM Fast kV CBCT which maintains image quality even at low mAs. However, it is consider that the additional exposure to low doses can be reduced by controlling the imaging range for patients who have undergone ovarian transposition in other treatment machines.
