Durability performance evaluation of automotive components is very important and time consuming task. In this paper, to reduce vehicle component development time and cost virtual testing simulation technology is used to evaluate durability performance of a passenger car front aluminum sub-frame. Multibody dynamics based vehicle model and virtual test simulation model of a half car road simulator are validated by comparisons between rig test results and simulation results. Durability life prediction of the sub-frame is carried out using the model with road load data of proving ground which can evaluate accelerated durability life. We found that the durability performance of the sub-frame is sufficient and it can be predicted within short time compared to rig test time.

In recent years, cloud computing services based on smart phones and other mobile terminals have been a rapid development. Cloud computing has the advantages of mass storage capacity and high-speed computing power, and it can meet the needs of different types of users, and under the background, mobile cloud computing (MCC) is now booming. In this paper, we have put forward a new classification-based virtual machine placement (CBVMP) algorithm for MCC, and it aims at improving the efficiency of virtual machine (VM) allocation and the disequilibrium utilization of underlying physical resources in large cloud data center. By simulation experiments based on CloudSim cloud platform, the experimental results show that the new algorithm can improve the efficiency of the VM placement and the utilization rate of underlying physical resources.
This paper proposes a method to prioritize the virtual objects to be selected, considering both the user's hand and the geometric relationship with the virtual objects and the user's intention which is recognized in advance. Picking up virtual objects in VR content is an essential and most commonly used interaction. When virtual objects are located close to each other in VR, a situation occurs in which virtual objects that are different from the user's intention are selected. To address this issue, this paper provides different weights for user intentions and distance between user's hand and virtual objects to derive priorities in order to generate interactions appropriately according to the situation. We conducted the experiment in the situation where the number of virtual objects and the distance between virtual objects are diversified. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method when the density between virtual objects is high and the distance between each other is close, user satisfaction increases to 20.34% by increasing the weight ratio of the situation awareness. We expect the proposed method to contribute to improving interaction skills that can reflect users' intentions.
Virtual world is persistent 3D(2D) space through computers which supports real-time interaction. Children's virtual worlds are for children below 15. Its educational benefits are: practical experience, cooperation possibility, experience sharing, and optimized environment. Moreover, interesting factors from games can enhance the educational efficiency of virtual worlds. In order to intensify the educational efficiency, goal, motivation, relationship and advice has to be considered as well. Based upon those factors, the result of analysis of current virtual worlds shows that they have clear goal. contextualization of task and appropriate reinforcement. However, for future prosperity, continuous effort for expansion of readiness, social persuasion, scaffolding are needed.
Offloading tasks from mobile devices to available cloud servers were improved since the introduction of the cloudlet. With the implementation of dynamic offloading algorithms, mobile devices can choose the appropriate server for the set of tasks. However, current task distribution approaches do not consider the number of VM, which can be a critical factor in the decision making. This paper proposes a dynamic task distribution on clustered data centers. A proportional VM migration approach is also proposed, where it migrates virtual machines to the cloud servers proportionally according to their allocated CPU, in order to prevent overloading of resources in servers. Moreover, we included the resource capacity of each data center in terms of the maximum CPU in order to improve the migration approach in cloud servers. Simulation results show that the proposed mechanism for task distribution greatly improves the overall performance of the system.
As SNS has increased its influence on the society as a whole, companies also have started to consider how to take advantage of the new service paying specific attention to its characteristics of immediacy, sharability and interactivity. This study aims to circumstantiate the relationship between a task support tool of SNS and task-media fit, user characteristics and performance by focusing on its usage in work field. To address this issue, a Task-Technology Fit model is used to propose a research model considering the characteristics of SNS as a social element, information technology as well as its user characteristics. The outcome shows that job characteristics, virtual competence and media characteristics have a significant influence on task-media fit, whereas virtual competence and SNS characteristics variables have a significant influence on SNS usage. Besides, task-media fit has a significant influence on SNS usage and work performance while SNS usage has a significant influence on work performance. The study suggests that strategic use of SNS helps improve work performance and these individual characteristics should be considered in planning of SNS utilizing strategy.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of display on time on tasks and virtual presence in the immersive virtual reality. Head mounted display (HMD) and monitor conditions were compared when the participants were asked to complete navigation tasks in a virtual classroom. Time on tasks and virtual presence were measured. Three factors of the virtual presence were applied as dependent variables such as 1) spatial presence, 2) involvement, and 3) realness. The results showed that HMD condition took longer time to finish tasks than monitor conditions. HMD condition showed significantly higher perception from all of the virtual presence factors. Interestingly, there was a significant interaction effect between the display conditions and presence factors. The relationship between display types and virtual presence factors were discussed for future study.
Generally, virtual machine platform is composed of a compiler, an assembler, and VM(Virtual Machine). To develop it, the design of VMC(Virtual Machine Code) is an essential task. And it is very important to verify the virtual machine platform. To do this and furthermore to execute VMC, it needs to implement VMC execution system using compiling method, interpreting method, or decompiling method. In this paper, we suggested and implemented the executing system of VMC using decompiling method out of three methods to execute the VMC. In our implementation, the VMC is SIL(Standard Intermediate Language) that is an intermediate code of EVM(Embedded Virtual Machine). Actually, we verified the usefulness of the decompiling method. And the decompiling method suggested in this paper can be used to minimize the mistake in developing Virtual machine platform.
Virtualized hardware resources provides efficiency in use and easy of management. Based on the benefits, virtualization techniques are used to build large server clusters and cloud systems. The performance of a virtualized system is significantly affected by the virtual machine scheduler. However, the existing virtual machine scheduler have a problem in that the I/O response is reduced in accordance with the scheduling delay becomes longer. In this paper, we introduce the Loan/Redemption mechanism of a virtual machine scheduler in order to improve the responsiveness to I/O events. The proposed scheme gives additional credits for to virtual machines and classifies the task characteristics of each virtual machine by analyzing the credit consumption pattern. When an I/O event arrives, the scheduling priority of a virtual machine is temporally increased based on the analysis. The evaluation based on the implementation shows that the proposed scheme improves the I/O response 60% and bandwidth of virtual machines 62% compared to those of the existing virtual machine scheduler.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the manual workload in repetitive wrist and finger motion. To evaluate manual workload, angular displacement of the joint, EMG of the muscle and subjective rating were studied. Both wrist motion and finger motion were studied. A screw-driving task was used for the wrist motion experiment. A keyboard typing task was used for the finger motion experiment. All finger joint angles and wrist angles were measured by an angle-measuring glove($CyberGlove^{TM}$, Virtual Technologies, Inc.). Surface EMG was recorded from FCU muscle and FDS muscle simultaneously with the angle measurement. Subjective ratings of exertion were also recorded using the modified Borg's CR-10 scale. Repetition rates of 0.5, 1, 2 motions per second were used with each task. As a result, manual workload increased with increasing repetitiveness. Peak spectral magnitude and frequency components corresponded closely with joint angular displacement amplitudes and repetition rates. Results of the correlation analysis showed that there were significant correlation among EMG, frequency-weighted motion and subjective measurement. Both EMG and frequency-weighted filtering showed consistent workload estimation with increasing task frequency. Subjective ratings showed slight over-estimation of the workload as the task frequency is increased.
