실 가공형 CAM 시스템 연구: 가공형상의 예측 및 실험 검증 (A Study on the Virtual Machining CAM System : Prediction and Experimental Verification of Machined Surface)

  • For geometric accuracy in the net shape machining, the problem of tool deflection should be resolved in some fashion. In particular, this is crucial in finish cut operation where slim tools are used. The purpose of this paper is to verify the validity and effectiveness of the prediction model of the machined surface. Experimental results are presented for the cut of steel material with HSS endmill of diameter 6mm on machining center. The results shows that 1) the machining error due totool deflection is serious even in the low cutting load, 2) by using the mechanistic simulation model with experimental coefficients, the machining error was predicted with maximum prediction error of 10% which was significantly reduced to the desired level by the path modification method.

  • In this paper, we present the methods to develop a Web-based CAM system that is capable to simulate machining processes in solid model form through internet. The methods include the dynamic representation on Web of machining operation, workpiece definition on the request of users, interpretation technique of NC par programs through CORBA, and algorithm for efficient machining simulation. Based on the methods, a Web-based CAM system it implemented at http://virtual.ulsan.ac.kr. Using the Web-based CAM system, public users tan simulate machining processes by own NC part programs.

가상 측정을 통한 펜슬곡선 추출 (Pencil Curve Tracing via Virtual Digitizing)

  • Pencil-curve machining, which is a single-pass ball-end milling along a concave edge on adie surface, is widely employed in die-surface machining. The cutter-path used for pencil-curve machining, which is the trajectory of the “ball-center point” of a ball-endmill sliding along a concave-edge region on the die surface, is called pencil-curve. Presented in the paper is a pencil-curve tracing algorithm in which “concave-type” sharp edges are computed from a “virtually digitized” model of the tool-envelope surface. The resulting “initial” pencil-cures are then refuted by applying a series of fairing operations. illustrative examples and methods for enhancing accuracy are also presented. The proposed pencil-curve tracing algorithm has been successfully implemented in a commercial CAM system specialized in die-machining and in the CAD/CAM system CATIA.

미소직선 공구경로의 NURBS 변환 (NURBS Post-processing of Linear Tool Path)

  • NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) is widely used in CAD system and NC data for high speed machining. Conventional CAM system changes NURBS surface to tessellated meshes or Z-map model, and produces linear tool path. The linear tool path is not good for precise machining and high speed machining. In this paper, an algorithm to change linear tool path to NURBS one was studied, and the machining result of NURBS tool path was compared with that of linear tool path. The N-post, post-processing and virtual machining software was developed. The N-Post post-processes linear tool path to NURBS tool path and quickly shades machined product on OpenGL view and compares a machined product with original CAD surface. A virtual machined model of original tool path and post-processed tool path was compared to original CAD model. The machining error of post-processed NURBS tool path was reduced to 43%. The original tool path and NURBS tool path was used to machine general model using same machine tool and machining condition. The machining time of post-processed NURBS tool path was reduced up to 38%.

  • In thls paper, a remote machine monitoring system for a vimal machine is proposed. The monltonng system is one of the core functmns of a vimd machne that provides a modeling and simulation environment for machining processes and management of the machine life cycle. The proposed system contains the modules for investigating tool wear using neural network and web-based real time process monitoring. An example implementation for tool wear and machining status monitoring is illustrated

  • The objective of this study is to estimate and to compensate for the volumetric error of a machine tool. In this paper, the volumetric error is defined and error synthesis model is presented. Then, the volumetric error of workpiece is compared through the virtual machining and a new tool-path is generated to compensate for the error in the post-processor of CAM system using the error synthesis model. By this method, the error is compensated without modification or replacement of a machine tool being in use.

  • This paper presents a process and operation planning system with an NC code post-processor for effective machining of press dies for production of cars. Based on the machining features, major parts of press dies are categorized into 15 groups and a standard process plan is defined for each group. The standard process plan consists of a series of processes where a process is defined as a group of operations that can be done with one setup. Details such as cutting tools, cutting conditions, and tool paths are decided at the operation planning stage. At the final stage of process and operation planning, the NC code post-processor we developed adjusts feedrates along the tool path to reduce machining time. The adjustment rule is selected based on the metal removal rate estimated by virtually machining with virtual cutting tool.

  • To quickly determine the effect of the substitute component on the machine's performance is very important in the defign and the manufacturing processes. And minimizing machine cost and maximizing machine quality mandata predictability of machine accuracy. In the study, in order to evaluate the effects of the component's geometric errors and dimensions on the machining accuracy of gantry-type 5-axis machining centers, a geometric error analysis and virtual manufacturing system is developed based on the mathematical model for the shape generation motion of machine tool considering the component's geometric errors and dimensions, the solid modeling techniques and so on.

  • This paper shows about the machine simulation embodiment when it happened NC equipment and between workpiece and interference collision at 5 axises processing of aircraft parts. And this research has been chosen because of the highest equipment interference occurrence rate at aircraft parts processing of 5 axises horizontal machine. It can verify simulation and machining process through correlation about their dynamic relations. interference, collision as embodied virtual manufacturing system of machining tool, workpiece, and holder etc. that is necessary element in shape of machine tool and function and processing in imagination ball. Also. it verified about interference and collision between NC equipment parts and workpiece, for applied machine simulation to NC Data of actuality aircraft parts of BULKHEAD and FRAME.

  • The fundamental issues to evaluate machine tools performance through simulation pertain to the physical models of the machine tool itself and of process while the practical problems are related to the development of the modular software structure. It allows the composition of arbitrary machine/process models along with the development of programs to evaluate each state of machining process. Surface roughness is one of the fundamental factors to evaluate machining process and performance of machine tool, but it is not easy to evaluate surface roughness due to its tribological complexity. This paper presents an algorithm to calculate surface roughness considering cutting geometry, cutting parameters, and contact dynamics of cutting between tool and workpiece as well as tool wear in turning process. This proposed algorithm could be used in the designed virtual machining system. The system can be used to evaluate the surface integrity of a turned surface during the design and process planning phase for the design for manufacturability analysis of the concurrent engineering.
