In this paper, we propose FAS model for establishing trust based on digital certificates in Grid security framework. The existing RBAC(Role Based Access Control) model is extended to provide permissions depending on the users‘ roles. The FAS model is designed for a system independent integrated Grid security by detailing and extending the fundamental architecture of user, role, and permission. FAS decides each user’s role, allocates access right, and publishes attribute certificate. FAS is composed of three modules: RDM, PCM, and CCM. The RDM decides roles of the user during trust negotiation process and improves the existing low level Grid security in which every single user maps a single shared local name. Both PCM and CCM confirm the capability of the user based on various policies that can restrict priority of the different user groups and roles. We have analyzed the FAS strategy with the complexity of the policy graph-based strategy. In particular, we focused on the algorithm for constructing the policy graph. As a result, the total running time was significantly reduced.

Large number of part design for aircraft and automobile is preceded by functional or sectional design groups for efficiency. However, interferences and gaps can be found when the parts and sub-assemblies by those design groups are to be assembled. These interferences and gaps cause design changes and additional repair processes. While interference problem has been resolved by digital mockup and concurrent engineering methodology, gap problem has been covered by temporary treatment of filling gap with sealant. This kind of fast fix causes fatal problem of leakage when the gap is too big for filling or the treatment gets old. With this research, we have developed a program to find the gap automatically among parts of assembly so that users can find them to correct their design before manufacturing stage. By using decomposition model representation method, the developed program can search the gap among complex car body parts to be visualized with volumetric information. It can also define the boundary between the gap and exterior empty space automatically. Though we have proved the efficiency of the developed program by applying to automobile assembly, application of the program is not limited to car body only, but also can be extended to aircraft and ship design of large number of parts.

This paper proposes a cost-efficient and flexible FPGA-based logic circuit emulation platform. By improving the performance and adding more features, this new platform is an enhanced version of our LAPG. It consists of an FPGA-based hardware engine and software element to drive the emulation and monitor the results. It also provides an interactive verification environment which uses an efficient communication protocol through a bi-directional serial link between the host and the FPGA board. The experimental results show that this new approach saves $55%{\sim}99%$ of communication overhead compared with other methods. According to the test results, the new LAPG is more area efficient in complex circuits with many I/O ports.
In a distributed system environment, such as a cloud database, the tail latency needs to be kept short to ensure uniform quality of service. In this paper, through experiments on a Cassandra database, we show that long tail latency is caused by a lack of memory space because the database cannot receive any request until free space is reclaimed by writing the buffered data to the storage device. We observed that, since the performance of the storage device determines the amount of time required for writing the buffered data, the performance degradation of Solid State Drive (SSD) due to garbage collection results in a longer tail latency. We propose a garbage collection synchronization technique, called SyncGC, that simultaneously performs garbage collection in the java virtual machine and in the garbage collection in SSD concurrently, thus hiding garbage collection overheads in the SSD. Our evaluations on real SSDs show that SyncGC reduces the tail latency of $99.9^{th}$ and, $99.9^{th}-percentile$ by 31% and 36%, respectively.

With the development of smart on-devices and communication technology, demand for non-stop services is increasing. Therefore, the high availability for continuously providing services in the event of system failure has been spotlighted. Meanwhile, because most internet-based services are provided by using TCP, an efficient TCP session recovery technique for providing non-stop services is required. However, the existing TCP session recovery techniques are inefficient because it has a high recovery cost or does not support failover operation, To solve these problems, in this paper, we propose a TCP session recovery technique for high availability in smart on-devices. For this, we first recover the TCP session without re-establish the TCP session by correcting a sequence number and a acknowledgment number. Second, we synchronize the TCP session recovery data between the master and the server, and then we operate the failover operation when master server fails. Finally, we provide the non-stop service to peer by using the virtual IP number and the transmission of GARP (Gratuitous ARP) packet.

Simulation has been evolved with the advance of computer and technique of modeling application systems. Early simulations were numerical analysis of engineering models known as continuous simulation, analysis of random events using various random number generators thus named as Monte Carlo simulation, iud analysis o(\\\\`queues which are prevalent in many real world systems including manufacturing, transportation, telecommunication. Discrete-event simulation has been used far modeling and analyzing the systems with waiting lines and inefficient delays. These simulations, either discrete-event, continuous, or hybrid, have played a key role in industrial age by helping to design and implement the efficient real world systems. In the information age which has been brought up by the advent of Internet, e-business has emerged. E-business, any business using Internet, can be characterized by the network of extended enterprises---extended supply and demand chains. The extension of value chains spans far reaching scope in business functions and space globally. It also extends to the individual customer, customer preferences and behaviors, to find the best service and product fit for each individual---mass customization. Simulation should also play a key role in analyzing and evaluating the various phenomena of e-business where the phenomena can be characterized by dynamics, uncertainty, and complexity. In this tutorial, applications of simulation to e-business phenomena will be explained and illustrated. Examples are the dynamics of new economy, analysis of e-business processes, virtual manufacturing system, digital divide phenomena, etc. Partly influenced by e-business, a new trend of simulation has emerged called agent-based simulation, Agent-based simulation is a technique of simulation using software agent that have autonomy and proactivity which are useful in analyzing and integrating numerous individual customer's behavior. One particular form of agent-based simulation is swarm. This tutorial concludes with the illustration of swarm or swarm Intelligence applied to various e-business applications, and future directions and implications of this new trend of simulation.

This paper presents a system which recognizes dynamic hand gestures on-line for controlling motion of numan avatar in virtual environment(VF). A dynamic hand gesture is a method of communication between a computer and a human being who uses gestures, especially both hands and fingers. A human avatar consists of 32 degree of freedom(DOF) for natural motion in VE and navigates by 8 pre-defined dynamic hand gestures. Inverse kinematics and dynamic kinematics are applied for real-time motion control of human avatar. In this paper, we apply a fuzzy min-max neural network and feature analysis method using fuzzy logic for on-line dynamic hand gesture recognition.

Personal image concerns a person's talent, expertise, as well as the internal and external image. It is a core value that differentiates one individual from another. As personal branding via personal image management has become more important, there is a fast-growing number of online systems that provide self-test programs to analyze one's style and habits and also provide expert advice for not only styles but lifestyles as well. This study develops a systematic and objective personal image consulting system and offers basic information for the research of personal image making. For that purpose, the study attempts to examine the present state of global companies that use online image consulting programs and analyze their digital content. The results are as follows: 1) two domestic companies, Colorz and Atzine, and seven foreign companies, notably Covet and Boutique, were brisk in business; 2) two types of personal image-diagnosis programs - Visual search and Virtual matching - are now in operation; and 3) mobile applications exist as an evolved personal image-diagnosis program. With an increased interest in such programs, various companies at home and abroad are establishing systematic and scientific analysis systems, which are needed for personal image-making online. Under these circumstances, domestic companies are also urged to enhance levels of image-diagnosis content and actual commercialization and utilization, to develop programs that enable objectified, systematic personal image-making. To this end, the results of this study may serve as a helpful tool to consider future directions.
The walking speed of handicapped people generally is slower than that of normal people. So it is difficult for them to cross at crosswalks within the allotted time provided by the traffic light. This problem can be solved by expanding the time of the traffic light. However, if the latency of the traffic light is increased without distinguishing the handicapped among all other pedestrians, the efficiency of traffic signal lights will decrease. In this paper, we propose a smart traffic signal connecting mechanism between the previous pedestrian traffic signal and a pedestrian's device (smartphone). This Smart pedestrian traffic light, through this mechanism, minimizes traffic congestion by providing additional walking time only to the handicapped among pedestrians. This crosswalk traffic light recognizes the handicapped using a technique called Internet of things (IOT). In this paper, we extract the data necessary to build an effective smart crosswalk traffic light mechanism through simulation techniques. We have extracted different kinds of traffic signal times with our virtual simulation environment to verify the efficiency of the smart crosswalk pedestrian traffic light system. This approach can validate the effective delay time of the traffic signal time through a comparison based on number of pedestrians.

This study aims to simulate the 3 dimensional (3D) model of Keum-man connection canal using geographic information system (GIS) as well as considering design in viewpoint of engineering. The canal connects from Keumkang to Mangyungkang in order to supply fresh water into Saemankeum lake. This study used 3 dimensional spatial planning model (3DSPLAM) process to generate the 3D model, which has not only several planning layers in actual process, but also their corresponding layers in modeling process to simulate 3D space of rural villages. The discharge of the canal is $20m^3/s$ on slope of 1/28,400 in the canal length of 14.2km, which consists of pipe line and open channel. This study surveyed the route of the canal and its surrounding environment for facilities to make images in the 3D graphic model. Besides, the present study developed data set in GIS for geogrphical surface modeling as well as parameters in hydraulic analysis for water surface profile on the canal using HEC-RAS model. From the data set constructed, this study performed analysis of water surface profile with HEC-RAS, generation of digital elevation model (DEM) and 3D objects, design of the canal section and route on DEM in AutoCAD, and 3D canal model and its surrounding 3D space in 3DMAX with virtual reality. The study result showed that the process making 3D canal model tried in this study is very useful to generate computer graphic model with the designed canal on the surface of DEM. The generated 3D canal can be used to assist decision support for the canal policy.
