슬러그 2상유동에서 전류형식 전자기유량계 수치적 신호예측 및 보정 (Numerical Signal Prediction and Calibration Using the Theory of a Current-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeter for Two-Phase Slug Flow)

  • The transient nature and complex geometries of two-phase gas-liquid flows cause fundamental difficulties when measuring flow velocity using an electromagnetic flowmeter. Recently, a current-sensing flowmeter was introduced to obtain measurements with high temporal resolution (Ahn et al.). In this study, current-sensing flowmeter theory was applied to measure the fast velocity transients in slug flows. The velocity fields of axisymmetric gas-liquid slug flow in a vertical pipe were obtained using Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) method, and the virtual potential distributions for the electrodes of finite size were also computed using the finite volume method for simulating slug flow. The output signal prediction for slug flow was carried out from the velocity and virtual potential (or weight function) fields. The flowmeter was numerically calibrated to obtain the cross-sectional liquid mean velocity at an electrode plane from the predicted output signal. Two calibration parameters are proposed for this procedure: a flow pattern coefficient and a localization parameter. The flow pattern coefficient was defined by the ratio of the liquid resistance between the electrodes for two-phase flow with respect to that for single-phase flow, and the localization parameter was introduced to avoid errors in the flowmeter readings caused by liquid acceleration or deceleration around the electrodes. These parameters were also calculated from the computed velocity and virtual potential fields. The results can be used to obtain the liquid mean velocity from the slug flow signal measured by a current-sensing flowmeter.

A Mini Review of Recent Advances in Optical Pressure Sensor

  • Innovative and advanced technologies, including robots, augmented reality, virtual reality, the Internet of Things, and wearable medical equipment, have largely emerged as a result of the rapid evolution of modern society. For these applications, pressure monitoring is essential and pressure sensors have attracted considerable interest. To improve the sensor performance, several new designs of pressure sensors have been researched based on resistive, capacitive, piezoelectric, optical, and triboelectric types. In particular, optical pressure sensors have been actively studied owing to their advantages, such as robustness to noise and remote sensing capability. Herein, a review of recent research on optical pressure sensors with self-powered sensing, remote sensing, high spatial resolution, and multimodal sensing capabilities is presented from the viewpoints of design, fabrication, and signal processing.

컴퓨터게임과 가상현실을 위한 촉각 응용에 관한 연구 (A Study on Tactile Sensation Application for Computer Game and Virtual Reality)

  • 인간의 촉각감지 기능은 주위환경에 대한 중요한 정보를 제공하여 준다. 촉각 정보는 우리의 신체와 외부세계와의 접촉에 따른 위치 정보와 물체를 인지하고 조작하기 위한 감각적 정보 뿐 아니라 위험 여부까지 판단할 수 있는 정보를 제공해 준다. 그러나 촉각은 시각과 청각에 비해 상대적으로 덜 중요한 감각으로 인식되어져 왔으나, 가상현실과 컴퓨터 게임에 있어서는 중요한 역할을 수행할 수 있다. 촉각을 통해 플레이어가 가상 세계의 물체에게 직접 영향을 줄 수도 있고 받을 수도 있는 적극적인 인간 감각이기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 인간의 촉각의 특성을 조사하고 이를 응용하기 위한 힘 감지 센서를 사용한 연구방법을 제시한다. 또한 실제적인 게임적용을 위하여 간단한 힘 모델링과 구조체 형식을 제안한다. 그 결과 센서 출력을 분석하여 힘의 분포, 크기, 중심을 구하고 이 정보를 응용하여 특정부위에 대한 작용, 반작용을 구현 할 수 있다. 본 결과는 컴퓨터 게임과 가상현실에서 촉각 감지와 응용을 위한 기본 자료로 활용될 수 있다.

A Prototype Implementation for 3D Animated Anaglyph Rendering of Multi-typed Urban Features using Standard OpenGL API

  • Animated anaglyph is the most cost-effective method for 3D stereo visualization of virtual or actual 3D geo-based data model. Unlike 3D anaglyph scene generation using paired epipolar images, the main data sets of this study is the multi-typed 3D feature model containing 3D shaped objects, DEM and satellite imagery. For this purpose, a prototype implementation for 3D animated anaglyph using OpenGL API is carried out, and virtual 3D feature modeling is performed to demonstrate the applicability of this anaglyph approach. Although 3D features are not real objects in this stage, these can be substituted with actual 3D feature model with full texture images along all facades. Currently, it is regarded as the special viewing effect within 3D GIS application domains, because just stereo 3D viewing is a part of lots of GIS functionalities or remote sensing image processing modules. Animated anaglyph process can be linked with real-time manipulation process of 3D feature model and its database attributes in real world problem. As well, this approach of feature-based 3D animated anaglyph scheme is a bridging technology to further image-based 3D animated anaglyph rendering system, portable mobile 3D stereo viewing system or auto-stereo viewing system without glasses for multi-viewers.

모바일 기기의 에너지 소모를 줄이기 위한 인지 무선 통신에서 효율적인 스펙트럼 센싱 방법 (Enhanced Energy-efficient Spectrum Sensing Scheme in Cognitive Radio Networks)

  • 증강현실, 가상현실, 딥러닝 등 최신 어플리케이션들은 재난상황 대처, 게임 등 다양한 분야에서 효율적으로 쓰일 수 있다. 그에 따라 해당 어플리케이션들이 급속도로 개발되고 있다. 그러나 증강현실, 가상현실과 같은 최신 모바일 어플리케이션은 모바일 기기에 에너지 부담을 가중시킨다. 따라서 모바일 기기가 최신 모바일 어플리케이션에만 에너지를 집중하기 위해선 인지무선 통신과 같은 통신 및 네트워킹에는 에너지 소모를 최소화 시켜야 한다. 본 논문은 Stop Reporting Algorithm (SRA)를 고안하여 인지 무선 통신에서 Centralized Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CCSS) 기법의 에너지 소모를 줄일 수 있는 방안을 제시한다. 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 SRA가 인지 무선 통신의 에너지 소모를 감소시킬 수 있음을 보인다.

  • In this study the spatial distribution characters of burnt forest site was first considered by analyzing spatial data and monitoring forest landscape before/after lire to restore the site. Then suitable tree species on each forest site should be selected through the weighted score analysis of GIS analysis methods. Finally. the best forest stand arrangement method could be simulated on the system for the advanced reforestation technology in Korea. For this purpose, the virtual reforestation system was implemented by using the concept of virtual GIS and CBD (Component Based Development) method. By use of this system the change of forest landscape of burnt forest area some years after reforestation practice could be detected and monitored by applying the site index and 3D modeling method.

  • In this paper, we present the 3DOF force-reflecting interface which allows to acquire force of object within a virtual environment. This system is composed of device, virtual environment model, and force-reflecting rendering algorithm. We design a 3 DOF force-reflecting device using the parallel linkage, torque shared by wire, and the controller of system applied by impedance control algorithm. The force-reflecting behaviour implemented as a function position is equivalent to controlling the mechanical impedance felt by the user. Especially how force should be supplied to user, we know using a God-Object algorithm. As we experiment a system implemented by the interface of 3D virtual object and 3DOF force-reflecting interface, we can feel a contact, non-contact of 3D virtual object surface and sensing of push button model.

Real-time Virtual-viewpoint Image Synthesis Algorithm Using Kinect Camera

  • Kinect is a motion sensing camera released by Microsoft in November 2010 for the Xbox360 that is used to produce depth and color images. Because Kinect uses an infrared pattern, it generates holes and noises around an object's boundaries in the obtained images. The flickering phenomenon and unmatched edges also occur. In this paper, we propose a real time virtual-view video synthesis algorithm which results in a high quality virtual view by solving these problems stated above. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm performs much better than the conventional algorithms.

  • Airbag deployment has been responsible for huge death, incidental injuries and broken bones due to low crash severity and wrong deployment decision. This misfortune has led the authorities and the industries to pursue uniquely designed airbags incorporating crash-sensing technologies. This paper provides a thorough discussion underlying crash sensing algorithm approaches for the subject matter. Unfortunately, most algorithms used for crash sensing still have some problems. They either deploy at low severity or fail to trigger the airbag on time. In this work, the crash-sensing algorithm is studied by analyzing the data obtained from the variables such as (i) change of velocity, (ii) speed of the vehicle and (iii) acceleration. The change of velocity is used to detect crash while speed of the vehicle provides relevant information for deployment decision. This paper also demonstrates crash severity with respect to the changing speed of the vehicle. Crash sensing simulations were carried out using Simulink, Stateflow, SimMechanics and Virtual Reality toolboxes. These toolboxes are also used to validate the results obtained from the simulated experiments of crash sensing, airbag deployment decision and its crash severity detection of the proposed system.
