  • When data collected from more than one family member are utilized family researchers must take the correlation of family member's perception behavior or attitude scores into account viewing the couple or family as a unit of interdependent members. This paper presents a framework for categorizing family data based on the unit of analysis and several alternatives for the statistical analysis of family variables using individual- dyadic- and family-level data.

일부 초등학교 5, 6학년 학생의 신체활동과 좌식생활 관련 요인 (Factors Associated with Physical Activity and Sedentary Behavior among Elementary School Students)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify personal and social environmental factors associated with physical activity and sedentary behavior among elementary school students. Methods: Cross-sectional self-reported data were collected from a conveniently clustering sample population of 1538 grade 5 to 6 students attending 19 elementary schools in Seoul metropolitan city and Gyeonggi province. Data were statistically analyzed using Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: In multiple logistic regression analyses, significant factors that were associated with schoolchildren's physical activity were gender, father's job, social support for physical activity, friend support, participation in school physical education class. Father's education level, mother's job, family functioning and urban residents were significantly associated with TV viewing and gender, age, BMI(obesity), mother's job, family functioning and urban residents were significantly associated with playing computer games among elementary schoolchildren. These results showed that physical activity among elementary school students was most associated with social environmental factors and sedentary behavior among school students was most associated with personal and family environment factors. Conclusion: Health care providers should develop interventions to improve these family and social environmental factors to increase physical activity levels and to decrease sedentary behavior among elementary schoolchildren.

A Study on the Media Consumers' Behavior Related to Online Communications: Behavioral Economics Perspective

  • This research investigates the media consumers' behavior with behavioral economics perspective, especially regarding TV content viewers' behavior; how do online communications influence TV viewers' decision when choosing a new TV content among options. We focus on quantity and attribute of comments or reactions on the online news articles. We analyze that online communications data, which were generated before the first broadcast, affect the TV content consumers' choice for a new TV series. Here we identify a predicted utility, experienced utility and distinction bias in TV media consumption to find the effectiveness of the first viewing choice on whole TV series' episodes. To avoid the crucial influence by exogenous factors, such as season and social issue, the test was done with specific conditions. This research found that the total number of reactions to the comments by itself positively affects the audiences' decision-making behavior for a new TV content choice. This influence was regardless of favor/ non-flavor reactions. This study contributes to the literature on media economics and management by exploring the media content users' consuming behavior and making a first step for finding an important influencer on the media content consumption.

The Influence of YouTube "Mukbang" Content Characteristics on Viewers' Satisfaction and Word-of-Mouth Intentions

  • Purpose: This study examines the impact of YouTube mukbang content characteristics on viewer satisfaction and word-of-mouth behavior. Drawing from theories in media psychology, consumer behavior, and communication studies, we investigate five key content characteristics: credibility, entertainment value, informativeness, visual appeal, and auditory quality. Research design, data and methodology: Using structural equation modeling with data from 206 mukbang viewers, we test hypothesized relationships between these characteristics, viewer satisfaction, and word-of-mouth behavior. Results: Research reveal that credibility and informativeness significantly and positively influence viewer satisfaction, while entertainment value, visual appeal, and auditory quality show no significant effect. Viewer satisfaction positively impacts word-of-mouth behavior. These findings challenge conventional assumptions about video content consumption and highlight the unique nature of mukbang viewing. Conclusions: The study contributes to digital content consumption literature by providing empirical evidence of factors influencing viewer engagement in the mukbang context. It offers practical insights for content creators, marketers, and platform developers, emphasizing the importance of informative and credible content in driving viewer satisfaction and promoting positive word-of-mouth. By extending established media theories to this emerging form of digital entertainment, our research paves the way for future studies. The study's limitations, including its cross-sectional nature and specific cultural context, suggest directions for future research.

디지털 TV EPG 사용자 요구 기능 도출 및 워킹 프로토타잎 개발 (Deriving required functions and developing a working prototype of EPG on digital TV)

  • Multichannel on digital TV not only gave opportunities to the TV audience to view a wide range of programs. but also made it difficult for them to search for the program which they plan to view among over 1000 programs broadcasted on more than 100 channels. In this paper the functions of EPG (Electronic Program Guides) required by the users on digital TV were derived from the systematic analysis of multichannel viewing situations. In the situation analysis the situations where they viewed programs on more than 100 channels were generated systematically and the viewing processes in those situations were analyzed to identify user needs and derive the required functions of EPG. We surveyed the viewing behavior of the audience who subscribed to a digital satellite broadcast. SkyPerfecTV. in Tokyo. Japan. The purpose of the survey was to verify the validity of the functions derived from the situation analysis and to identify hidden user needs which were difficult to in the situation analysis. The functions were implemented on a working prototype of EPG based on a digital TV simulator which broadcasts 500 programs on 100 channels and can be controlled by three working prototypes of personal remote controllers. The working prototype will be used in Participatory Design to make it possible for the users to experience and verify the usefulness of the required functions of EPG and also find problems in user interface design of EPG

미국 여성 시청자의 한류 드라마 수용에 관한 연구 -드라마 노출과 평가를 중심으로- (Female Viewers' Korean Drama Consumption in the U.S.)

  • 본 연구에서는 해외 프로그램 수용 모델을 도입, 한류를 소비하는 이질 문화권 수용자 특성과 노출, 평가가 지속적인 시청 의향에 어떠한 효과를 미치는가를 살펴보았다. 미국의 젊은 여성 수용자 176명의 응답을 분석한 결과, 한국 인지도, 일반적인 드라마 노출이 한국 드라마 노출에 직접적인 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 한국 드라마 평가, 지속 시청 의향에도 간접적 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 한국 드라마 노출은 드라마에 대한 평가와 지속 소비 의향에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 드라마 평가가 지속 시청 의향에 미치는 효과는 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 한국인 네트워크는 종속 변인에 유의한 효과를 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 이질 문화권 수용자의 문화적 자산이 한국 드라마 소비에 영향을 미치고 있음을 의미한다. 일반적인 드라마 소비 성향이 이질 드라마의 소비로 연장된다는 본 연구의 결과 역시 의미 있는 발견으로, 한류 시장 확대를 위한 정책에 시사점을 제공한다.

유아기 부모 스마트미디어 중재 척도 타당화 연구 (Validation of a Scale Smart Media Mediation for Young Children's Parents)

  • Objective: This study aimed to validate a scale which could measure the correct mediation behavior of parents for their children's smart media use. Methods: The subjects were comprised of 514 parents of 5-year-old children. The collected data were analyzed using Jasp. Results: First, in the primary validation process, a total of 19 items and five factors were extracted through exploratory factor analysis. Through secondary validation process, we found that the scale model satisfies the goodness-of-fit evaluation criteria and is valid through confirmatory factor analysis. The newly constructed parents smart media mediation scale in early childhood emerged as a valid and reliable scale. Second, it was found that the more parents pursue 'active mediation', 'instructive mediation', and 'supervision', and avoid 'co-viewing', and 'technical restrictions', the more they had a positive effect on children's smart media usage capabilities. Third, the total score of smart media mediation for young children's parents was found to significantly differentiate young children's smart media overdependence, and self-regulation. Conclusion/Implications: The final smart media mediation scale for young children's parents was composed of 19 items, with five factors: 'co-viewing', 'instructive mediation', 'technical restrictions', 'active mediation', and 'supervision'.

웹툰 이용동기와 계획행동이론 변인이 웹툰 관련 행동의도에 미치는 영향: 영화관람, 유료 콘텐츠 전환시 이용, 캐릭터 상품 구매의도의 비교 (The Influence of Webtoon Usage Motivation and Theory of Planned Behavior on Intentions to Use Webtoon: Comparison between movie viewing, switching to paid content, and intention for buying character products)

  • 본 연구는 웹툰의 지속적 성장 전략을 이끌어 내기 위해 웹툰의 이용동기를 규명하고, 웹툰과 관련된 파생 문화 콘텐츠 상품 및 서비스, 즉 웹툰 기반 영화 관람의도, 웹툰 유료 전환시 구매의도, 웹툰 캐릭터 상품 구매의도를 예측해 내고자 했다. 특히 본 연구는 이용과 충족이론의 관점에서 웹툰 이용동기와 인간의 사회문화적 행동의 도를 예측하는데 유용성을 보이는 계획행동이론을 융합한 모델을 통해 웹툰 관련 행동의도 예측의 설명력을 확장해 내고자 했다. 분석결과 웹툰 이용동기는 정보 추구 동기, 오락 및 접근 용이성 동기, 웹툰의 장르적 특성 동기, 친구나 지인의 영향 동기, 현실도피 및 긴장해소 동기 등 5개로 나타났다. 웹툰 기반 영화 개봉시 관람의도에 영향을 미치는 변인은 웹툰 동기 중 웹툰의 장르적 특성 동기, 현실도피 및 긴장해소 동기, 계획행동이론의 3가지 변인인 것으로 나타났다. 웹툰 유료 서비스 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 변인은 웹툰 이용동기 중 정보 추구 동기, 오락 및 접근 용이성 동기, 웹툰의 장르적 특성 동기, 계획행동이론의 3가지 변인인 것으로 나타났다. 웹툰 기반 캐릭터 상품 구매의도에 영향을 미치는 변인은 웹툰 이용동기 중 정보 추구 동기, 현실 도피 및 긴장해소 동기, 계획행동이론 변인 중 태도와 주관적 규범인 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 웹툰의 지속적 성장을 위한 몇 가지 제언을 수행했다.

영상콘텐츠 시청자의 몰입상황 분석을 위한 몰입감정상태 연구 (A Study on Flow-emotion-state for Analyzing Flow-situation of Video Content Viewers)

  • It is required for today's video contents to interact with a viewer in order to provide more personalized experience to viewer(s) than before. In order to do so by providing friendly experience to a viewer from video contents' systemic perspective, understanding and analyzing the situation of the viewer have to be preferentially considered. For this purpose, it is effective to analyze the situation of a viewer by understanding the state of the viewer based on the viewer' s behavior(s) in the process of watching the video contents, and classifying the behavior(s) into the viewer's emotion and state during the flow. The term 'Flow-emotion-state' presented in this study is the state of the viewer to be assumed based on the emotions that occur subsequently in relation to the target video content in a situation which the viewer of the video content is already engaged in the viewing behavior. This Flow-emotion-state of a viewer can be expected to be utilized to identify characteristics of the viewer's Flow-situation by observing and analyzing the gesture and the facial expression that serve as the input modality of the viewer to the video content.

초광대역 레이더를 이용한 실시간 관람 행태 분석 시스템 (Real-time Visitor's Behavior Analysis System via Ultra-Wide Band Radar)

  • 초광대역 레이더는 수 GHz대의 주파수 대역을 사용하는 고속무선통신 기술로 실내 무선 측위기술로 각광받고 있다. 한편, 박물관 및 전시회 등의 기관에서는 방문객 실시간 위치뿐만 아니라, 관람자의 이동경로 및 체류시간 정보 또한 관람 행태 분석을 위해 필요로 한다. 본 논문에서는 초광대역 레이더를 이용한 실시간 위치 추적 기술을 통해 박물관 방문객의 관람 행태를 분석하는 시스템을 구축 사례를 소개한다. 개발 시스템을 국립중앙박물관 신라관에 설치하여, 22개의 상용 초광대역 레이더로 부터 실시간 측위 정보 수신하고, 이를 통해 관람자 조건별 이동경로 및 전시 대상별 체류시간을 분석할 수 있는 환경을 구축하였다.
