COLOR CORRECTION METHOD USING GRAY GRADIENT BAR FOR MULTI-VIEW CAMERA SYSTEM

  • Due to the different camera properties of the multi-view camera system, the color properties of captured images can be inconsistent. This inconsistency makes post-processing such as depth estimation, view synthesis and compression difficult. In this paper, the method to correct the different color properties of multi-view images is proposed. We utilize a gray gradient bar on a display device to extract the color sensitivity property of the camera and calculate a look-up table based on the sensitivity property. The colors in the target image are converted by mapping technique referring to the look-up table. Proposed algorithm shows the good subjective results and reduces the mean absolute error among the color values of multi-view images by 72% on average in experimental results.

Adaptive illumination change compensation method for multi-view video coding (다시점 비디오 부호화를 위한 적응적인 조명변화 보상 방법)

  • In this paper, an adaptive illumination change compensation method is proposed for multi-view video coding. In multi-view video, an illumination change can occur due to physically imperfect camera calibration, each different camera position and direction, and so on. These characteristics can cause a performance decrease in the multi-view video coding that uses an inter-view prediction by referring to the pictures obtained from the neighboring views. By using the proposed method, a compression ratio of the proposed method in the multi-view video coding is increased, and finally $0.1{\sim}0.6dB$ PSNR(Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) improvement was obtained compared with the case of not using the proposed method.

  • The adaptation of spatial view is to update materialized view objects when apatial view is redefined. There are tow kinds of adaptation : incremental updates and recomputation. The incremental update changes related view objects and it is more efficient than the recomputation which evaluates redefined view defining query because spatial view is defined by spatial query including high cost spatial operator. This paper proposes the several incremental update methods according to the types of changing the definition of a spatial view. There are two kinds of incremental view adaptation : the method of using only the existing view objects and the view derivation relationship between view objects and their sources. This incremental update is achieved by updating the current materialized view objects or by inserting new materialized view objects. Spatial view adapter is implemented and tested on top of the object oriented geographic information system. This paper evaluates performance between the recomputation and incremental update method through real data.

Suggestion of Modified Y-View in Supine Position (Supine Position에서 Modified Y-View의 제안)

  • This study was performed to design a modified Y-View as an imaging method for the Y-View in supine position for patients who requires Y-View imaging for the diagnosis of shoulder impingement syndrome but having trouble for the positioning of patients complaining of shoulder pain. On the result of comparative analysis of the images obtained by changing the lateral-medio degree of X-ray tube into $35^{\circ}$, $40^{\circ}$, and $45^{\circ}$ while patient is in supine position, $40^{\circ}$ of X-ray tube in lateral-medio direction produced the most valuable image for the diagnosis by best describing the shapes of acromion, clavicle space, and coracoacromial arch. Therefore, patients who have difficulty in Y-View position to obtain Y-View image, modified Y-View can be applied as a useful alternative method. By this study, various applications not only in shoulder impingement syndrome but also in diverse omarthralgia diseases are expected.

Multi-view Semi-supervised Learning-based 3D Human Pose Estimation (다시점 준지도 학습 기반 3차원 휴먼 자세 추정)

  • 3D human pose estimation models can be classified into a multi-view model and a single-view model. In general, the multi-view model shows superior pose estimation performance compared to the single-view model. In the case of the single-view model, the improvement of the 3D pose estimation performance requires a large amount of training data. However, it is not easy to obtain annotations for training 3D pose estimation models. To address this problem, we propose a method to generate pseudo ground-truths of multi-view human pose data from a multi-view model and exploit the resultant pseudo ground-truths to train a single-view model. In addition, we propose a multi-view consistency loss function that considers the consistency of poses estimated from multi-view images, showing that the proposed loss helps the effective training of single-view models. Experiments using Human3.6M and MPI-INF-3DHP datasets show that the proposed method is effective for training single-view 3D human pose estimation models.

  • Motion Estimation which is used to reduce the redundant data plays an important role in video compressions. However, it requires huge computational complexity of the encoder part. And therefore many fast motion estimation methods has been developed to reduce complexity. Multi-view video is obtained by using many cameras at different positions and its complexity increases in proportion to the number of cameras. In this paper, we proposed a fast motion estimation method for multi-view video. The proposed method predicts a search start point by using correlated candidate vectors of the current block. According to the motion size of the start search point, a search start pattern of the current block is decided adaptively. The proposed method proves to be about 2 ~ 5 times faster than existing methods while maintaining similar image quality and bitrates.

A Perception-based Color Correction Method for Multi-view Images

  • Three-dimensional (3D) video technologies are becoming increasingly popular, as it can provide users with high quality and immersive experiences. However, color inconsistency between the camera views is an urgent problem to be solved in multi-view imaging. In this paper, a perception-based color correction method for multi-view images is proposed. In the proposed method, human visual sensitivity (VS) and visual attention (VA) models are incorporated into the correction process. Firstly, the VS property is used to reduce the computational complexity by removing these visual insensitive regions. Secondly, the VA property is used to improve the perceptual quality of local VA regions by performing VA-dependent color correction. Experimental results show that compared with other color correction methods, the proposed method can greatly promote the perceptual quality of local VA regions greatly and reduce the computational complexity, and obtain higher coding performance.

An Efficient Incremental Maintenance of SPJ Materialized Views (SPJ 실체화 뷰의 효율적인 점진적 관리 기법)

  • In the data warehouse environment, materialized views are typically used to support efficient query processing. Materialized views need to be updated when source data change. Since the update of the views need impose a significant overhead, it is essential to update the views efficiently. Though various view maintenance strategies have been discussed in the past, the efficient maintenance of SPJ materialized views has not been sufficiently investigated. In this paper, we propose an efficient incremental view maintenance method for SPJ materialized views that minimizes the total accesses to data sources. The proposed method finds an optimal view maintenance strategy using a dynamic programming algorithm. We also present various experimental results that shows the efficiency of our proposed method.

Multi-view Video Coding using the Constrained Inter-view Prediction (다시점 비디오 부호화에서 시점 간 예측 제한 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a method that uses the constrained inter-view prediction for multi-view video coding. In the multi-view video, there exists occluded area because of the locations and angles of cameras. This increases the computational complexity, as it still uses both reference pictures for predicting the area which is not shown in the current frame. In this paper, we propose a method that does not use the inter-view prediction in cases of the occluded macroblocks. Experimental results show that benefits about 4% can be achieved compared with the conventional approaches.

  • With a remote operated manipulator system, the situation at a remote site can be rendered through remote visualized image to the operator. Then the operator can quickly realize situations and control the slave manipulator by operating a master input device based on the information of the virtual image. In this study, the remote operator visual support system (ROVSS) was developed for viewing support of a remote operator to perform the remote task effectively. A visual support model based on virtual environment was also inserted and used to fulfill the need of this study. The framework for the system was created by Windows API based on PC and the library of 3D graphic simulation tool such as ENVISION. To realize this system, an operation test environment for a limited operating site was constructed by using experimental robot operation. A 3D virtual environment was designed to provide accurate information about the rotation of robot manipulator, the location and distance of operation tool through the real time synchronization. In order to show the efficiency of the visual support, we conducted the experiments by four methods such as the direct view, the camera view, the virtual view and camera view plus virtual view. The experimental results show that the method of camera view plus virtual view has about 30% more efficiency than the method of camera view.
