  • In the field of natural language processing, Universal Networking Language (UNL) has been used by various researchers as an inter-lingual approach to automatic machine translation. The UNL system consists of two main components, namely, EnConverter for converting text from a source language to UNL, and DeConverter for converting from UNL to a target language. Currently, many projects are researching how to apply UNL to different languages. In this paper, we introduce the tools that are UNL's applications and discuss how to reuse them to encode a Vietnamese sentence into UNL expressions and decode UNL expressions into a Vietnamese sentence. The testing was done with about 1,000 Vietnamese sentences (a dictionary that includes 4573 entries and 3161 rules). In addition, we compare the proportion of sentences translated based on a direct method (Google Translator) and another one based on UNL.

  • Vietnam is conducting an export-led growth model and labour-intensive industries contributing majorly to the total export value. In the context of Industry 4.0, the labour-based industries are significantly affected; hence, enhancing productivity is the key measure to maintain these industries. The garment industry contributes significantly to the total export value of Vietnam. Based on meta-frontier framework, the approach of data envelopment analysis is used to measure technical efficiency of Vietnamese garment firms and the global Malmquist TFP index is utilised to identify productivity change and its components including efficiency, technology and technical gaps between different groups of firms. The data of Vietnamese garment firms from 2013 to 2018 collected from the Vietnam General Statistic Office is used in this study. The results show that: (i) The total factor productivity of Vietnamese garment firms growth, technical progress is the main contributor; (ii) The private garment sector is the leading group; (iii) There is a large technological gap among Vietnamese garment sectors. The private and FDI garment firms have experienced a growth in all components of total factor productivity change. Meanwhile, technological progress change is the main reason to constrain the productivity growth of state-owned garment firms.

  • Currently, there are very few papers that have examined the efficiency of Vietnamese ports. Of those that have, some of them take into account only a few container ports in Northern Vietnam. Others focus on comparing all types of ports in Vietnam with regard to the differences in efficiency scores when applying different methods to evaluate efficiency. However, there is no paper that specifically analyzes the efficiency of Vietnamese container ports throughout the country or that compares Vietnamese container ports with those of other countries in terms of efficiency. In order to provide more accurate and interesting information for container port authorities, in this study, 21 major Vietnamese container ports and seven major Korean container ports are selected and examined with regard to their levels of efficiency in 2016 using data envelopment analysis (DEA). This paper applies both constant return to scale (CRS) and variable return to scale (VRS) to explore the differences among overall technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, and scale efficiency of the selected container ports. This study also indicate slacks and sets projections for inefficient ports.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the accuracy of Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) knowledge and performance among Vietnamese nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted using a questionnaire pertaining to the nurses' knowledge of GCS and a structured evaluation tool to measure the accuracy of their GCS scores. A total of 94 Vietnamese nurses participated in this study, all from a general hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Data were analyzed by conducting a t-test, a $x^2$ test, and ANOVA. Results: This study found that the vast majority of the nurses (>90%) responded correctly to questions regarding their GCS basic knowledge; however, 52.1% of the nurses answered incorrectly questions related to clinical scenarios requiring the application of the basic knowledge. Regarding the GCS performance, the nurses demonstrated acceptable accuracy rates for each component of GCS, but those who scored well in all three components accounted for only 42.6% of the subject group. These findings indicate that the Vietnamese nurses are not able to integrate their GCS knowledge into actual practice as measured by the accuracy of GCS scoring. Conclusion: This study suggests that new educational strategies should be developed for the Vietnamese nurses to improve their performance on accurate GCS scoring based on theoretical knowledge.

  • Emperor Minh Mang (明命), the second ruler of the Nguyen Dynasty in Vietnam, reigned from 1820 to 1841. He is widely regarded by contemporary historians as the most distinguished monarch of his dynasty, despite some controversial policies. One aspect of his extraordinary legacy is the remarkable 142 offspring he sired - 78 princes and 64 princesses - earning him the unprecedented distinction of having the most progeny among kings in world history. Vietnamese people suppose Minh Mang's prolific reproductive success to the consumption of a specially prescribed medicine known as Minh Mang Thang (明命湯, MMT). This medicine, often associated with sexual potency and fertility, is characterized by intriguing names such as "One night Five sexes," "One night Six sexes born Five babies," or "Six sexes Three pregnancies." Vietnamese folklore vividly recounts Minh Mang's exceptional sexual prowess, attributing it to the use of MMT. MMT formulations, which include various herbs, notably Korean ginseng, may incorporate additional botanical ingredients depending on their intended purpose. This paper aims to explore the origins, history, ingredients, and applications of MMT, unraveling the mystery behind this mystical prescription that has inspired several oriental medicinal researchers. Through this investigation, we seek to shed light on the cultural and historical contexts surrounding Minh Mang's use of MMT and its enduring impact on traditional Vietnamese medicine and folklore.

  • Two new benzopyrans 6-[1'-oxo-3'(R)-hydroxy-butyl]-5,7 -dimethoxy-2,2-dimethyl-2H-1-ben-zopyran (1) and 6-[1'-oxo-3'(R)-methoxy-butyl]-5,7 -dimethoxy-2,2-dimethyl-2H-1-benzopyran (2) were isolated from the leaves of Mallotus apelta Muell.-Arg., (Euphorbiaceae). Their chemical structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses, especially by 1D-, 2D-NMR and MS spectra. Compound 1 was found to have strong cytotoxic effect against two human cancer cell lines as human hepatocellular carcinoma (Hep-2, $IC_{50}\;:\;0.49\;{\mu}g/mL$) and rhabdosarcoma (RD, $IC_{50}\;:\;0.54\;{\mu}g/mL$), while compound 2 showed moderate activity against Hep-2 cell line ($IC_{50}\;:\;4.22\;{\mu}g/mL$) by in vitro assay.

  • A responsibility center is important for businesses in controlling their business activities. A responsibility center accounting includes a structured system for dividing responsibilities to help assess activities to improve economic efficiency for businesses. The article is based on exploratory factor analysis using the ordinary least squares to test the model of the factors affecting the application of responsibility center accounting in Vietnamese enterprises. The article uses data including 482 samples of 200 Vietnamese enterprises such as CFOs, chief accountants, and accountants. The sample was selected randomly to ensure objectivity in the period 2020-2021. The research results show that there are three factors that have a positive impact on the application of responsibility center accounting of Vietnamese enterprises, including the qualifications and capabilities of managers, decentralization in management, and evaluation tools of the responsibility center accounting. In order to contribute to improving efficiency in the application of the responsibility center accounting for Vietnamese enterprises, leaders of Vietnamese enterprises need to raise awareness and professional qualifications, pay attention to the management level in a transparent and appropriate way to delineate and diversify the tools used to facilitate and achieve business performance.
