  • In the N-Screen environment, HTML5 standard-based content development is inevitable. However, it is still passive the development of HTML5 manipulation type contents due to high development cost and insufficient infrastructure. Therefor we propose an efficient contents development model by convergence multimedia contents (such as video and audio) with HTML5 documents that can implement dynamic manipulation for user interaction. The proposed model is designed to divide the multimedia and iframe areas in the HTML5 layout page included the player for integrated contents control.   • Nowadays Fiber optical communication systems have limitless bandwidth and can be used for transmitting various multimedia data with in real time. It is necessary to construct integrated service systems that can be used in our society whole to communicate multimedia data such as text, image, audio and video data in fiber optic communication systems. In this paper, we have designed and constructed the fiber optical link application system for multi-video/audio data transmission using only one core optical cable upgrading previous fiber optical communication systems based on WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexer). Using the proposed fiber optical link application system enables us to managing fiber optical communication systems with only one core optical cable using WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexer) and DEWDM/Wavelength splitter.

  • The edge and contour information are very much appreciated by the human visual systems and are responsible for our perceptions and recognitions. Therefore, if edge information is integrated during extracting video objects, we can generate boundaries of oects closer to human visual systems for multimedia applications such as interaction between video objects, object-based coding, and representation. Most of object extraction methods are difficult to implement real-time systems due to their iterative and complex arithmetic operations. In this paper, we propose a VLSI architecture integrating edge information to extract video objects for precisely located object boundaries. The proposed architecture can be easily implemented into hardware due to simple arithmetic operations. Also, it can be applied to real-time object extraction for object-oriented multimedia applications.

  • As computing technologies are rapidly progressed and widely used, the needs of high quality information have been increased. To satisfy these needs, it is essential to develop a system which can provide an efficient storing, managing and retrieving mechanism of complex multimedia data, esp. video data. In this paper, we propose a metadata model which can support content-based retrieval of video data. And we design and implement an integrated user interface for querying and browser for content-based retrieval in video database which can efficiently access and browse the video clip that user want to see. Proposed query processor and browser can support various user queries by integrating image feature, spatial temporal feature and annotation. Our system supports structure browsing of retrieved result, so users can more exactly and efficiently access relevant video clip. Without browsing the whole video clip, users can know the contents of video by seeing the storyboard. This storyboard facility makes users know more quickly the content of video clip.

  • The security issue in urban transit system has been widely considered as the common matters after the fire accident at Daegu subway station. The safe urban transit system is highly demanded because of the vast number of daily passengers, and it is one of the most challenging projects. We introduced a test model for integrated security system for urban transit system and built it at a subway station to demonstrate its performance. This system consists of cameras, sensor network and central monitoring software. We described the smart camera functionality in more detail. The proposed smart camera includes the moving objects recognition module, video analytics, video encoder and server module that transmits video and audio information.

This paper explores the utility of an integrated a, pp.oach which utilizes a second-order learning process. The a, pp.oach is compared against individual techniques relating to a neural network, case based reasoning, and induction. In the interest of concreteness, the concepts are presented through a case study involving the prediction of network traffic for video-on-demand.

An SAD-Based Selective Bi-prediction Method for Fast Motion Estimation in High Efficiency Video Coding

  • As the next-generation video coding standard, High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) has adopted advanced coding tools despite the increase in computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a selective bi-prediction method to reduce the encoding complexity of HEVC. The proposed method evaluates the statistical property of the sum of absolute differences in the motion estimation process and determines whether bi-prediction is performed. A performance comparison of the complexity reduction is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed method compared to the HEVC test model version 4.0. On average, 50% of the bi-prediction time can be reduced by the proposed method, while maintaining a negligible bit increment and a minimal loss of image quality.

  • This paper proposes a new approach to video surveillance systems, which have become essential components in modern urban management. By utilizing blockchain and IPFS, it enhances data integrity and privacy protection. Additionally, anomaly detection and automatic video storage are enabled through object detection technology, thus improving urban safety and security. This integrated approach serves as an efficient management methodology for surveillance systems, providing city administrators and citizens with a safer and more effective monitoring environment.

  • Generally, either caption-based search method or content-based search methods is used to retrieve video information. However, each search method has its limitations. Caption-based search is apt to lose consistency as for user's subjects, and content-based search is hard to extract general means. To enhance efficiency and correctness as for complementing each other, we propose the Integrated Video Data Model(IVDM) which integrates the two search methods, to device the model, we analyze video data and construct the structure of video information hierarchically. IVDM supports caption-based search as assigning meta-data by analyzing thematic-unit in the higher level, and also supports content-based search as extracting feature data by analyzing the content of video data in the lower level. We design Object-Oriented database schema of news video, based-on the IVDM. And we provide 4-type of queries and query processing algorithm to retrieve news video information.

  • Generally, conventional video searching or classification methods are based on its meta-data. However, it is almost Impossible to represent the precise information of a video data by its meta-data. Therefore, a processing method of video data that is based on its meta-data has a limitation to be efficiently applied in application fields. In this paper, for efficient classification of video data, a classification method of video data that is based on its low-level data is proposed. The proposed method extracts the characteristics of video data from the given video data by clustering process, and makes the profile of the video data. Subsequently. the similarity between the profile and video data to be classified is computed by a comparing process of the profile and the video data. Based on the similarity. the video data is classified properly. Furthermore, in order to improve the performance of the comparing process, generating and comparing techniques of integrated profile are presented. A comparing technique based on a differentiated weight to improve a result of a comparing Process Is also Presented. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is verified through a series of experiments using various video data.
