63Mbps One-to-One Video Transmission Wireless Scheme in a Single-carrier Modulation with 2×2 Multiple Input Multiple Output (2×2 MIMO를 적용한 63Mbps급 단일 반송파 변조 방식의 일대일 영상전송 무선방식)

  • In this paper, we propose a wireless transmission scheme that maximizes transmission efficiency per frequency bandwidth in a single carrier modulation scheme. The proposed scheme employs a decision directed channel tracking technique to remove both pilot signal and the guard interval signal between symbols in frames. It performs a raised cosine pulse shaping function with an roll-off factor of 0.05. In addition, 2×2 multiple input and multiple output using two polarized antennas is applied and both equalization and signal separation are performed in the frequency domain. The wireless modem with this technology confirms that the transmission speed of up to 63.3Mbps is achieved under the 5MHz frequency bandwidth

Efficient Transmission Scheme with Viewport Prediction of 360VR Content using Sound Location Information (360VR 콘텐츠의 음원위치정보를 활용한 시점예측 전송기법)

  • 360VR content requires short latency, such as immediate response to viewers' viewport changes and high quality video delivery. It is necessary to consider efficient transmission that guarantees the QoE(Quality of Experience) of the 360VR contents with limited bandwidth. Several research has been introduced to reduce overall bandwidth consumption by predicting a user's viewport and allocating different bit rates to the area corresponding to the viewport. In this paper, we propose novel viewport prediction scheme that uses sound source location information of 360VR contents as auditory recognition information along with visual recognition information. Also, we propose efficient transmission algorithm by allocating a bit rate properly based on improved viewport prediction. The proposed scheme improves the accuracy of the viewport prediction and provides high quality videos to tiles corresponding to the user's viewpoint within the limited bandwidth.

  • In this paper, we propose a scheme to associate content-based video signature with Universal Content Identifier (UCI) system of broadcast content for copyright identification and management. Note that content-based video signature can identify a previously distributed content since it is directly extracted from content itself without allocation process of identifier such as UCI. Thus, we design the schema of UCI application metadata, which provides a video signature in order to consistently maintain a systemic link between UCI and the video signature. Also, we present the scenarios of copyright identification, management and additional service, which are based on transmission and management mechanism of video signature with UCI identification system.

  • Smoothing is a transmission plan where variable rate video data is converted to a constant bit rate stream. Among them are CBA, MCBA, MVBA, e-PCRTT and others. e-PCRTT algorithm, which was improved from PCRTT, restricts the number of rate changes with fixed-size run. This causes unnecessary rate changes when run size is small and buffer size is large. In this paper, to overcome a shortcoming of e-PCRTT algorithm, a smoothing algorithm is proposed, which is improved from e-PCRTT, where a transmission rate transmits more intervalsl as possible. Experiments demonstrated that the proposed algorithm outperformed e-PCRTT algorithm. In order to show the performance, various evaluation factors were used such as the number of transmission rate changes, peak rate, transmission rate variability and so on.

Channel-adaptive Image Compression for Wireless Transmission

  • This paper presents computationally efficient image compression for wireless transmission of high-definition video, to adaptively utilize available channel bandwidth and improve image quality. The method indirectly predicts an unknown available channel bandwidth by monitoring encoder buffer status, and adaptively controls a quantization parameter to fully utilize the bandwidth. Experimental results show that the proposed method is robust to variations in channel bandwidth.

Home appliances interface IEEE1394 technique has much wealthy transmission skill. IEEE1394 is using home appliances through various information form image and voice change data real time print out. In this paper, AVC CTS technology and IEEE1394 technology are introduced. Digital Video Camera includes compression format using DV. System composition control is consisted of protocols like IEC-61883 and AV/C command set standard.

An Efficient Packetization Method for the Real-time Internet Video Transmission (실시간 인터넷 동영상 전송을 위한 효율적인 패킷화 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient packetization method to reduce the packetization overhead. For the purpose, we firstly verify the relationship between packet length and packet loss rate. The empirical results show that as the packet length is larger than the path MTU, the packet loss rate is drastically increased, producing poor visual quality at the receiver side. However, as the length of the packet is reduced, we should transmit more packets per frame and the packetization overhead will be increased. This increase in the packetization overhead reduces the number of bits allocated to the video data, resulting in the low visual quality. Therefore, each packet should be packetized to have the packet length close to the path MTU. In this paper, we show that the this process of the packetization with the constraint on the packet length is very similar to the dynamic storage allocation in the operating system. We had thoroughly surveyed the dynamic storage allocation methods used in the recent operating systems and propose to use the allocation methods for the video packetization. We empirically show that the proposed method can reduce the packetization overhead upto 28.3%, compared with the conventional sequential packetization method which have been widely used in Internet video transmission.

  • In UHD high-speed video transmission system, when a signal within certain frequency region coincides electrically and structurally, the system becomes unstable because the energy is concentrated, and signal flux is interfered and distorted. For the instability, power integrity analysis should be conducted. To remove the signal distortion for MLB, using a high-frequency design technique for EMI phenomenon, EMI which radiates electromagnetic energy fluxed into power layer was analyzed considering system stabilization. In this paper, we proposed an adaptive MLB design method which minimizes high-frequency noise in MLB structure, enhances signal integrity and power integrity, and suppresses EMI. The characteristic impedance for multi-layer circuit board proposed in this study were High-Speed Video Differential Signaling(HSVDS) line width w = 0.203, line gap d = 0.203, beta layer height h = 0.145, line thickness t = 0.0175, dielectric constant εr = 4.3, and characteristic impedance Zdiff = 100.186Ω. When high-speed video differential signal interface board was tested with optimized parameters, the magnitude of Eye diagram output was 672mV, jittering was 6.593ps, transmission frequency was 1.322GHz, signal to noise was 29.62dB showing transmission quality improvement of 10dB compared to previous system.

A New Data Partitioning of DCT Coefficients for Error-resilient Transmission of Video (비디오의 에러내성 전송을 위한 DCT 계수의 새로운 분할 기법)

  • In the typical data partitioning for error-resilient video coding, motion and macroblock header information is separated from the texture information. It can be an effective tool for the transmission of video over the error prone environment. For Intra-coded frames, however, the loss of DCT (discrete cosine transform) coefficients is fatal because there is no ther information to reconstruct the corrupted macroblocks by errors. For Inter-coded frames, when error occurs in DCT coefficients, the picture quality is degraded because all DCT coefficients are discarded in those packets. In this paper, we propose an efficient data partitioning and coding method for DCT-based error-resilient video. The quantized DCT coefficients are partitioned into the even-value approximation and the remainder parts. It is shown that the proposed algorithm provides a better quality of the high priority part than the conventional methods.

Design of Smart OTT Platform based on the Analysis of Adaptive Buffering (적응 버퍼링 성능분석 기반의 스마트 OTT 플랫폼 설계☆)

  • In this paper, the dynamic buffering based smart OTT platform was proposed, and analyzed for adaptive bit-rate video delivery with the optimization of HLS (HTTP Live Streaming). This platform consists of the software platform between sever and client which detects the bandwidth capacity, and adjusts the quality of the streaming for multiple bit-rates resolutions. In order to apply adaptive buffering, two buffers are added to the basic HLS player, and each buffer is responsible for constantly buffering a previous and the next channels relative to the current channel. This adaptive transmitting with smart OTT platform is superior to delivering a static video file at a single buffering, because the video stream of adaptive double buffers can be switched streaming according to client's available network speed. As a result, this proposed smart OTT can be cooperated to the application of HLS server with segmented H.265 MPEG-2 TS video & m3u8 files with its information based on the optimized transmission channel state of live and VOD, and applied to PLC transmission, too.
