Efficient implementation of pre-filtering has been an important issue in video sequence coding, because it can remove camera noise and improve coding efficiency dramatically This paper introduces a novel pre-filtering scheme that is performed inside a video encoder The proposed pre-filtering is based on the approximated generalized Wiener filtering and two-dimensional discrete cosine transform (DCT) factorization. and is achieved by scaling the DCT coefficients of original image blocks for intra block coding and those of motion-compensated error blocks for inter block coding, respectively Even though the pre-filtering operation is embedded in a video encoder, its additional computational complexity is marginal compared to the encoding process, and the overall architecture of the conventional video encoder is maintained In spite of its simplicity, the proposed pre-filtering scheme provides good filtering and coding performance for noisy video sequences.

Video platforms, including YouTube, have a structure in which the number of video views is directly related to the publisher's profits. Therefore, video publishers induce viewers by using provocative titles and thumbnails to garner more views. The conventional technique used to limit such harmful videos has low detection accuracy and relies on follow-up measures based on user reports. To address these problems, this study proposes a technique to improve the accuracy of filtering harmful media using thumbnails, titles, and audio data from videos. This study analyzed these three pieces of multimodal information; if the number of harmful determinations was greater than the set threshold, the video was deemed to be harmful, and its upload was restricted. The experimental results showed that the proposed multimodal information extraction technique used for harmfulvideo filtering achieved a 9% better performance than YouTube's Restricted Mode with regard to detection accuracy and a 41% better performance than the YouTube automation system.

In this paper, we propose a data model and a retrieval method for content-based video query After partitioning a video into frame sets of same length which is called video-window, each video-window can be mapped to a point in a multidimensional space. A video can be represented a trajectory by connection of neighboring video-window in a multidimensional space. The similarity between two video-windows is defined as the euclidean distance of two points in multidimensional space, and the similarity between two video segments of arbitrary length is obtained by comparing corresponding trajectory. A new retrieval method with filtering and refinement step if developed, which return correct results and makes retrieval speed increase by 4.7 times approximately in comparison to a method without filtering and refinement step.

We consider the visual barcode recognition problem in a noisy video data setup. Unlike most existing single-frame recognizers that require considerable user effort to acquire clean, motionless and blur-free barcode signals, we eliminate such extra human efforts by proposing a robust video-based barcode recognition algorithm. We deal with a sequence of noisy blurred barcode image frames by posing it as an online filtering problem. In the proposed dynamic recognition model, at each frame we infer the blur level of the frame as well as the digit class label. In contrast to a frame-by-frame based approach with heuristic majority voting scheme, the class labels and frame-wise noise levels are propagated along the frame sequences in our model, and hence we exploit all cues from noisy frames that are potentially useful for predicting the barcode label in a probabilistically reasonable sense. We also suggest a visual barcode tracking approach that efficiently localizes barcode areas in video frames. The effectiveness of the proposed approaches is demonstrated empirically on both synthetic and real data setup.
We develop a video processing method that allows the more advanced human perception oriented video coding. The proposed method necessarily reflects all influences by the rate-distortion based optimization and the human visual perception that is affected by the visual saliency, the limited space-time resolution and the regional moving history. For reflecting the human perceptual effects, we devise an online moving pattern classifier using the Hedge algorithm. Then, we embed the existing visual saliency into the proposed moving patterns so as to establish a human visual perception model. In order to realize the proposed human visual perception model, we extend the conventional foveation filtering method. Compared to the conventional foveation filter only smoothing less stimulus video signals, the developed foveation filter can locally smooth and enhance signals according to the human visual perception without causing any artifacts. Due to signal enhancement, the developed foveation filter more efficiently transfers the bandwidth saved at smoothed signals to the enhanced signals. Performance evaluation verifies that the proposed video processing method satisfies the overall video quality, while improving the perceptual quality by 12%~44%.
Current binocular stereoscopic displays cause visual discomfort when objects with large disparities are present in the scene. One solution for improving visual comfort is synthetic depth-of-field processing, which simulates the characteristics of a human visual system. With this technique, visual comfort is improved by blurring portions of the background and/or foreground in the scene. However, this technique has the drawback of degrading overall image quality because the blurring is typically applied to both left and right images. To alleviate the visual discomfort, we propose a novel disparity-based asymmetrical filtering technique. Proposed technique applies the filtering to the image of one eye only, and controls the blur level according to the disparity information between stereoscopic images. We investigate the effects of this technique on stereoscopic video by measuring visual comfort and apparent sharpness. Our results indicate that disparity-based asymmetrical filtering can improve visual comfort of stereoscopic video while it maintains apparent sharpness if unfixated regions with large disparities are blurred under the appropriate filtering condition.

A sequential recursive Kalman filtering algorithm, using causal image model, which is designed to operate in real time in the scanning mode is developed to enhance quality of 64Kbps videocodec images via function of suppression of various noises and optimum restoration. In order to improve its performance, adapted an averaging of pixel values between processing lines and adaptive filtering strategy based on the local spatial variance. Effecttiveness of the Kalman filtering algorithm proposed has been proved in the processed test kalman filtering algorithm proposed has been proved in the processed test images and the NMSE, LOGMSE measured, therefore, it may proposes possibility of the usage in videocodec for pre- and post- processing.
This paper presents a video copy detection algorithm that blocks online transfer of illegally copied DTV broadcast programs. Particularly, the proposed algorithm establishes a set of keyframes by detecting abrupt changes of luminance, and then exploits the spatio-temporal features of keyframes. Comparing with the preregistered features stored in the database of DTV broadcast programs, the proposed scheme performs a function of video filtering in order to distinguish whether an uploaded video is illegally copied or not. Note that we analyze only a set of keyframes instead of an entire video frame. Thus, it is highly efficient to identify illegal copied video when we deal with a vast size of broadcast programs. Also, we confirm that the proposed technique is robust to a variety of video edit-effects that are often applied by online video redistribution, such as apsect-ratio change, logo insertion, caption insertion, visual quality degradation, and resolution change (downscaling). In addition, we perform a benchmark test in which the proposed scheme outperforms previous techniques.
We propose a new video compression method based on MCTF(motion compensated temporal filtering) with constant quality. SPECK is an efficient image compression coding method of encoding DWT coefficients. Especially SPECK method is very efficient for coding the motion compensated residual image which usually has larger amounts of high frequency components than the natural images. And proposed multi block size hierarchical motion estimation technique is more efficient than classical block matching algorithm with fixed block size both in estimation precision and operation costs. Proposed video method based on MCTF video compression can also support multi-frame rate decoding with reasonable complexity. Simulation results showed that proposed method outperforms H.263 video compression standard.
Multiview Video Coding contains a macroblock-based illumination compensation tool which can compensate the variations of illuminations according to view or temporal directions. Thanks to illumination compensation tool, the coding efficiency of Multiview Video Coding has been enhanced. However illumination compensation tool also generates additional subjective drawbacks of the blocking artifacts due to macroblock-based compensations of mean values. A deblocking filtering method for Multiview Video Coding which is the same as in H.264/AVC does not consider illumination difference between the illumination compensated blocks, thus it can not effectively eliminate the blocking artifacts. Therefore, this paper analyzes the phenomena of blocking artifacts caused by illumination compensation and proposes a method which can effectively eliminate the blocking artifacts with the minimum changes of the H.264 deblockding filtering method. In the simulation results, it can be easily found the blocking artifacts are clearly eliminated in the subjective comparisons, and the average bit-rate reduction is up to 1.44%.
