  • There are great needs for checking machine operation status precisely in the iron and steel plants. Rotating machines such as pumps, compressors, and motors are the most important objects in the plant maintenance. In this paper back-propagation neural network is utilized in diagnosing rotating machines. Like the finger print or the voice print of human, the abnormal vibrations due to axis misalignment, shaft bending, rotor unbalance, bolt loosening, and faults in gear and bearing have their own spectra. Like the pattern recognition technique, characteristic. feature vectors are obtained from the power spectra of vibration signals. Then we apply the characteristic feature vectors to a back propagation neural net for the weight training and pattern recognition.

  • If slope height was more than 20 meters, we conducted an analysis of stereographic projection and limit equilibrium at this slope. We proposed reduction of slope face angle and reinforcement of rock bolt depending on analysis. Blasting design : Standard pattern based on result of local test blasting was made for blasting design. Vibration criterion was set for less than 3.0mm/s because of outworn buildings and inhabitants opinions. Production blasting and Controlled blasting has been done as Construction standard pattern. After Vibration Monitoring has been done, so that we can control of complement. "Bidding Document" and AASHTO 2001 "A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets" were so for design criteria of earthwork but they were different actual design criteria and left something to be desired in Afghanistan. Therefore, although "Bidding Document" and "AASHTO 2001" were basic design criteria, domestic design criteria was reflected in this design criteria for complement by discussion with supervisor. Drainage design : For stability ratio, ditch of arch block and stonework was designed by rainfall data for the 13 years and discussion with supervisor. Pavement was designed as flexible pavement. Because these days in Afghanistan postwar repair works, especially urgent repairing of roads and newly making of roads, are very highly in progress, I think that Afghanistan is the region about which our construction technical experts should have great concerns.

  • This paper proposes design and implementation of wind turbine simulators which incorporate the turbine dynamic characteristics. At first, the turbine output characteristic in steady state is modelled as a function of wind speed and then dynamic characteristics are modelled such as pitch angle control, torsional vibration, tower shadow effect, wind shear effect, and inertia effect. In addition, a wind speed simulator is developed which can generate the real wind speed pattern. The wind turbine simulator is implemented with 3[kW] M-G set(cage-type induction motor coupled with doubly-fed induction generator) at laboratory.

  • High and intermittent loading cycles induce fatigue damage to transmission components, resulting in premature gearbox failure. To identify gearbox defects, numerous vibration-based diagnostics techniques, using several artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, have recently been presented. In this paper, an optimized deep belief network (DBN) model for gearbox problem diagnosis was designed based on time-frequency visual pattern identification. To optimize the hyperparameters of the model, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) approach was integrated into the DBN. The proposed model was tested on two gearbox datasets: a wind turbine gearbox and an experimental gearbox. The optimized DBN model demonstrated strong and robust performance in classification accuracy. In addition, the accuracy of the generated datasets was compared using traditional ML and DL algorithms. Furthermore, the proposed model was evaluated on different partitions of the dataset. The results showed that, even with a small amount of sample data, the optimized DBN model achieved high accuracy in diagnosis.

  • Vibration-based fault detection and condition monitoring of rotating machinery, using statistical process control (SPC) combined with statistical pattern recognition methodology, has been widely investigated by many researchers. In particular, the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is considered as a powerful tool for feature extraction in detecting fault on rotating machinery. Although DWT significantly reduces the dimensionality of the data, the number of retained wavelet features can still be significantly large. Then, the use of standard multivariate SPC techniques is not advised, because the sample covariance matrix is likely to be singular, so that the common multivariate statistics cannot be calculated. Even though many feature-based SPC methods have been introduced to tackle this deficiency, most methods require a parametric distributional assumption that restricts their feasibility to specific problems of process control, and thus limit their application. This study proposes a nonparametric multivariate control chart method, based on multiscale wavelet scalogram (MWS) features, that overcomes the limitation posed by the parametric assumption in existing SPC methods. The presented approach takes advantage of multi-resolution analysis using DWT, and obtains MWS features with significantly low dimensionality. We calculate Hotelling's $T^2$-type monitoring statistic using MWS, which has enough damage-discrimination ability. A bootstrap approach is used to determine the upper control limit of the monitoring statistic, without any distributional assumption. Numerical simulations demonstrate the performance of the proposed control charting method, under various damage-level scenarios for a bearing system.

  • The grinding process is very complex and relates many parameters to control the process. As this reason, a theoretical analysis and a quantitative estimation of the grinding process has not been well established. In this study, the in-process monitoring system was suggested by applying the neural network for monitoring and shooting the malfunction of cylindrical plunge grinding process. This system used the power signals from the electric power meter. This neural network was composed of processing elements [4-(5-5)-3] with 4 identified power parameters. Because sensitivity is blunted some minute vibration components, the simulation result of this system has appeared about 10% erroneous recognition in the uncertain pattern and the average success rate of the trouble recognition was about 90%. Consequently, the developed system, which applied to the power signals, can be recognize enough to monitor the grinding process as in-process.

  • Locations and emission characteristics of noise source of motor vehicles are great important factors to control the road traffic noise in effective ways. From results of this study on emission characteristics of engine and exhaust noise, we could find that every noise emission of different kind of vehicles has smilar pattern. The main emission locations of engine noise for the front of vehicle became the space between the road surface and bottom of the body and radiator grill, and for the side of vehicle became the space between the road surface and bottom nearby the front wheel. In case of exhaust noise of passenger-car and light truck, all the highest sound intensity level located near surface of road. But it is hard to conclude the height of noise source of driving vehicles with only results of this study. So further studies are needed to check the emission characteristics of noise.

  • A simple finite element approach to predicting deformed shape and load-deflection curve of elastomers is presented in this paper. The method is based on several simplifications in deformation pattern and material behavior. The conventional updated Lagrangian approach is employed together with material data obtained by a simple tension test. The presented approach is verified through comparison of predicted results with experimental ones and applied successfully to shape design of various elastomers for shock, vibration and noise control. The advantage of the presented approach lies in easiness, simplicity and accuracy enough for engineering application.
