  • Vibration intensity (VI) method is used to reduce sound source generated from air-conditioning rotary compressor. Generally VI method is a good tool to find a sound source through vibration power flow. In this paper, the vibrations are measured by using the 3 uni-axial accelerometer from both the shells of the normal compressor and the fault compressor. The VI method successfully found out the sound source position on the surface of the compressor. In addition, the main noise (3kHz ~ 6.3kHz) was deminished by applying the newly designed compressor inner part which is related to the orginal noise source.

  • The main noise source of the rotary compressor for air conditioner was analyzed by using the measurement of sound intensity, modal analysis and operational deflection shape(ODS) analysis. In this study, the key noise source of rotary compressor was an accumulator, and noise was sharply increased due to the accumulator's resonance which has a big contribution to the noise. To reduce the excessive noise generated from accumulator, structural modification through ODS analysis were applied. Its validation was conducted by the measurement of noise and vibration on the accumulator's surface. The total noise was significantly reduced by 4.2dB(A).

  • The identification of power flow in dynamically loaded structures Is essential in the analysis of structure-borne noise. However there are no general purpose tools to estimate powers flow. To make matters worse. It is very difficult to measure it. The power flow can be formulated in terms of balance forces(ELFORCE) at each element and velocities at the associated node obtained with MSC/NASTHAN. In this paper the procedure which is consist of the computations of the balance forces of al1 elements and the velocities at all nodes using MSC/NASTRAN. The calculations of the power f1ow at each element using PCL(PATRAN Command Language) and the Preparation of post -processes is set UP.

  • An air-conditioner has various noise sources such as a fan noise, a motor noise, and a vibration induced noise. To reduce these noise effectively, noise sources must be identified. Especially in this paper, the structure borne sound radiated from the motor bracket of the indoor air-conditioner is considered. To do this, the operational deflection shape, which is used for understanding of the behavior of the motor bracket at a particular frequency, is obtained and compared with the sound intensity, which is used for the noise identification. Through this study, the noise sources of indoor air-conditioner are defined and the effective noise reduction method is proposed.

  • CD-ROM Drives Rotating high speed as 10000 rpm cause serious noise and vibration problems. At the high speed, dominant noise is Air Borne Noise produced from high-speed airflow and Structure Borne Noise produced from structural vibration. In this research, vibration and sound characteristics in CD-ROM Drive were studied by the use of experimental analysis and computational simulation. Sound intensity techniques and ODS(Operational Deflection Shape) techniques are applied to identify the acoustic noise source of CD-ROM drive. And Computational simulation using SYSNOISE is conducted for describing the noise behavior.

  • For the analysis of vibrational energy density and intensity of partitioned complex system structures in medium-to-high frequency ranges, A software based on the Power Flow Analysis(PFA) has been developed for the plate elements. The flexural, longitudinal and shear waves in plates are formulated and the joint element equations for multi-coupled plates are fully developed. Also, the wave transmission approach has been introduced to cover the energy transmission and reflection at the joint plate elements. To confirm the validity of the developed PFA software, the submarine-shaped complex structures are used for the analysis of vibration intensity and energy density.

  • The floor thickness in residential buildings may not satisfy the floor vibration criteria even though the thickness is determined by the serviceability requirements in current design provisons. Thus it is necessary to develop the procedure to determine slab thickness that satisfies the floor vibration criteria. In this study provide the methods to determine the slab thickness that satisfies the vertical floor vibration criteria for several sizes of flat plate floor system. Randomness inherent in young modulus of concrete and heel drop intensity was accounted. For this purpose Monte Carlo simulation procedure was adopted.

  • In this paper, Power Flow Analysis (PFA) method has been applied to the prediction of vibration energy density and intensity of coupled shell structures in the medium-to-high frequency ranges. To consider the wave transformation at joint between shell elements, power transmission and reflection coefficients are investigated for various joint angles, and here Donnell-Mushtari thin shell theory has been used. • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of vibration exercise using surface electromyography. Seven male collegiate wrestlers were participated in this study. Each subject stood on the platform and the vibration was induced for 1min. WEMG8 EMG system was used to record muscle activity from Vastus lateralis, Biceps Femoris, Tibialis Anterior, and Gastrocnemius. The EMG data were sampled for 30 sec. during non-vibration and vibration half squat position, respectively. The raw data were band pass filtered to remove noise and full wave rectified Paired sample t-test were performed to see the differences of maximum and average EMG between non-vibration and vibration trials. The results indicated that vibration produced much more muscle contraction than that of non-vibration trial for all selected muscles even though the significant difference was found only from Biceps Femoris. This phenomenon was due to the individual differences so care must be taken to evaluate vibration intensity and position before personal training.
