  • The study about a drainpipe of water closet was performed as reduction of drainage noise for water closet. The Drainage noise is composed two characteristics. One is Low frequency noise and the other is high frequency noise. Low frequency noise is dominant in the first stage and high frequency noise is dominant in the last stage. This is due to water splashing and that is caused by formation of chamber pot. In this experiment, for the purpose for reducing the noise, we choose the hollow rubber pipe element. As a result, we reduced drainage noise about 11㏈A.

  • This paper describes, firstly, on analytical method of computing the eigenvalues of vertical vibration of ships, taking into account for the distribution of hull weight including added mass and the effect of shear deflection and rotary inertia. The frequency equation is solved by Galerkins method into form of numerical integration. Applying the above described equation, model experiment of vertical vibration was carried out in order to varify the validity of the analytical method of vertical vibration. The model, which was made of acrylite plate, was ship-shaped wall-sided vessel with bulkheads, deck openings, and fore and after peak tank at both ends. The results of experiments carried out both in air and on water showed that the observed natural frequencies and the observed patterns of natural modes of vibration were in good agreement with analytically calculated values for 2,3, and 4-node vibration.

A coupled vibration model of double-rod in cross flow for grid-to-rod fretting wear analysis

  • In Pressurized Water Reactors, most of the failed fuel rods are often observed at the periphery of the fuel assembly, especially near the core baffle. The rod vibration-induced fretting wear is a significant failure mechanism strongly correlated with the coolant and support conditions. This paper presents a coupled vibration model of double-rod to predict the grid-to-rod fretting (GTRF) wear. A motion-dependent fluid force model is used to simulate the coolant cross flow, the gap constraints with asymmetric stiffness between spring and dimple on the vibration form, and the fretting wear are discussed. The results show the effect of the coupled vibration on the deterioration of wear, providing a sound theoretical explanation of some failure phenomena observed in the previous experiment. Exploratively, we analyze the impact of the baffle jet on the GTRF wear, which indicates that the high-velocity cross-flow will significantly affect the vibration forms while sharply changing the wear behavior.

  • Many researches have been studied several vibration control device such as TMD and TLD to reduce the influence of wind or seismic waves for high-rise buildings. TLD provides some advantages such as easy installation and low maintenance cost. However, because of the difficulties in evaluating the characteristics of TLD, the dynamic characteristics of TLD must be investigated by experiment or analysis. In this study, the dynamic response analysis of structure with TLD was carried out to verify the vibration control ability of the proposed TLD for high-rise building. The parameter of interest was chosen by the height of the water level and the frequency of input seismic wave in the same shape of water tank.

프로펠러 날개의 진동특성에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Method for the Identification of the Propeller Blade Vibration Characteristics)

  • An experiment method has been developed to analyse the vibration characteristics of marine propeller blades, and vibration tests have been carried out on the model scale propeller in air and in water. The driving point transfer function(acceleration/excitation force) has been measured and modified by compensating the attachment effect of the impedance head. The measured natural frequencies in air have been compared with the theoretical results by an in-house FEM code PROSTEC. The added masses have been derived by comparing the measured natural frequencies in air and in water, and the results have been compared to the results using existing formula based on experience.

  • The cause and the elimination method for the chattering phenomena were investigated in a check valve attached to the exit of an auxiliary cooling water pump in a Korean nuclear powerplant. From the site experiment and the numerical calculation, the incident angle of the disk was so small that it was not able to produce the sufficient lifting force to overcome the gravitational component of the disk weight. Moreover, it turned out that the installation position was not symmetric for the secondary vortical flow generated inside the elbow so that the flow structure had strongly unstable flow characteristics. From this study, the tapping noise and the chattering phenomena were eliminated exactly by changing the incidence angle of the valve disk and the installation position of the calve body.

선박 방사소음의 측정방법 및 정확도 해석 (Ship Radiated Noise Measurement Methods and Accuracy Analysis)

  • The ship radiated noise level fluctuates by the difference of interference and reverberation according to measurement methods and environmental conditions. These phenomena cause error of the source level estimation even in the same environment conditions. This paper describes a quantitative analysis and a reduction method for an error value to the source level estimation in spatial and temporal interference environment. The design criteria of the radiated noise measurement array composed of omni-directional hydrophones and the source level accuracy in the deep water range are given. The source level accuracy in the shallow water range is also derived based on the statistical model of the multiple reflection paths. The results are verified using the water tank experiment and the sea trial.

고속디이젤 기관의 점성비틀림 진동댐퍼에 관한 연구 (A study on the viscous torsional vibration damper in a high speed diesel engine)

  • Recent diesel engine has achieved high speed running comparable to that of gasoline engine as a speed improvement effort. Consequently, torsional vibration of high-speed diesel engine induced vibration nosise, reduced horsepower and the like. Viscous damper which is thought to be effective in curtailing the torsional vibration was studied over a wide range of speed. In this investigation, a water cooling, 4-cycle high-speed diesel engine(Msx. 3500 rpm)was used for the study. Theoretical analysis was made by assuming the engine to be an ideal equivalent system(length, moment of inertia) i. e. the multi-degree of freedom equivalent torsional vibration system with damper was analyzed. In the analysis, the inertia moment of suitable damper for this experiment was calculated by varying the relative damping coefficient of damper of engine for each damper. Furthermore, in the torsional vibration experiment, the torsional vibration amplitude of the crankshaft system was measured when the engine was equipped with dampers of different moments of inertia and also when the engine was equipped without dampers. The experimental results were compared with the analytical values and were found to be satisfied. The results of this investigation are summarized below; (1) It was found that for the engine equipped with dampers, the torsional vibration amplitude was reduced to about one third of those without dampers. (2) The optimum value of inertia moment of viscous damper for the engine was found to be about Id=1.05(kg.cm.s$^{2}$) (3) The optimum damping coefficient and the ratio of moment of inertia for the engine were found to be about Ca= 850(kg.cm.s), Rd=0.509, respectively (b1 dapmper).

수온에 따른 성대 진동과 음성신호 분석 요소간의 상관성 분석 (Correlation Analysis Between Vocal Fold Vibration and Voice Signal Analysis Parameter by Water Temperature)

  • 본 논문에서는 수온 변화에 따른 성대의 영향을 분석하는 실험을 수행하였다. 특히, 섭취하는 수온 변화에 따라 성대 진동의 패턴에 대한 유의성을 추출하기 위한 음성 측정 시스템을 설계하는 연구를 수행하고자 한다. 이를 위해 $0^{\circ}C$부터 $70^{\circ}C$까지 $10^{\circ}C$ 간격으로 총 8단계의 온도 차이를 두고 이를 섭취했을 때 변화하는 성대 진동의 음성 분석 요소값을 측정하였다. 결과적으로 $30^{\circ}C{\sim}40^{\circ}C$의 온도를 나타내는 물을 섭취했을 때 성대 진동이 안정화 되면서 발음의 정확성이 향상되는 것을 알 수 있으며 이를 통해 $30^{\circ}C{\sim}40^{\circ}C$의 물이 성대에 가장 좋은 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다.

시간지연 추정을 통한 누수위치 식별 연구 (Time Delay Estimation for the Identification of Leak Location)

  • Leak noise is a good source to identify the exact location of a leak point of underground water pipelines. Water leak generates broadband noise from a leak location and can be propagated to both directions of water pipes. This sound propagation due to leak in water pipelines is not a non-dispersive wave any more because of the surrounding pipes and soil. However, the necessity of long-range detection of this leak location makes to identify low-frequency acoustic waves rather than high frequency ones. Acoustic wave propagation coupled with surrounding boundaries including cast iron pipes is theoretically analyzed and the wave velocity was confirmed with experiment. The leak locations were identified both by the acoustic emission (AE) method and the cross-correlation method. In a short-range distance, both the AE method and cross-correlation method are effective to detect leak position. However, the detection for a long-range distance required a lower frequency range accelerometers only because higher frequency waves were attenuated very quickly with the increase of propagation paths. Two algorithms for the cross-correlation function were suggested, and a long-range detection has been achieved at real underground water pipelines longer than loom.
