  • All chemical processes are centered in the chemical reactor. Chemical reactions are often accompanied by mixing. Mixing can influence not just reaction rate but also product distribution if more than one product is possible. So, reactor agitator is more critical in industrial reactions. High vibration was occurred on reactor agitator which is critical equipment in HDPE plant. This paper describes analysis and diagnosis for agitator vibration throughout some tests. High vibration has been occurred by misalignment and resonance. Through the correction it could be stable.

  • This paper is proposed that in-output Digital module is acquired a vibration signal of a rotating machinery by Data Acquisition System. The module is designed to get ride of nose through low pass filter on the vibration signal from sensors and set the gain value for being able to sampling AC to DC, and also the sampled data by sampler and the conversed data by DIP/FPGA is supplied to the analyzer for analysis at a software tool. The DIP(Digital Signal Processor) of the Digital input/output Board makes Average voltage, Peak to Peak voltage, RMS(Root Mean Square) and Gap voltage, also FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) for rotating vibration diagnosis.

  • This study presents fault diagnosis of low speed bearing using support vector machine (SVM). The data used in the experiment was acquired using acoustic emission (AE) sensor and accelerometer. The aim of this study is to compare the performance of fault diagnosis based on AE signal and vibration signal with same load and speed. A low speed test rig was developed to simulate various defects with shaft speeds as low as 10 rpm under several loading conditions. In this study, component analysis was also performed to extract the feature and reduce the dimensionality of original data feature. Moreover, the classification for fault diagnosis was also conducted using original data feature without feature extraction. The result shows that extracted feature from AE sensor gave better performance in faults classification.

  • As rotating machines play an important role in industrial applications such as aeronautical, naval and automotive industries, many researchers have developed various condition monitoring system and fault diagnosis system by applying artificial neural network. Since using obtained signals without preprocessing as inputs of neural network can decrease performance of fault classification, it is very important to extract significant features of captured signals and to apply suitable features into diagnosis system according to the kinds of obtained signals. Therefore, this paper proposes a neural-network-based fault diagnosis system using AR coefficients as feature vectors by LPC(linear predictive coding) and EIV(errors-in variables) analysis. We extracted feature vectors from sound, vibration and current faulty signals and evaluated the suitability of feature vectors depending on the classification results and training error rates by changing AR order and adding noise. From experimental results, we conclude that classification results using feature vectors by EIV analysis indicate more than 90 % stably for less than 10 orders and noise effect comparing to LPC.

  • With the automation of production lines in the manufacturing industry, the importance of real-time fault diagnosis of facility is increasing. In this paper, we propose a fault diagnosis algorithm of LM (Linear Motion)-guide based on deep learning using vibration signals. Generally, in order to guarantee the performance of the deep learning, it is necessary to have a sufficient amount of data, but in a manufacturing industry, it is often difficult to obtain enough data due to physical and time constraints. To solve this problem, we propose a convolutional neural networks (CNN) model based on transfer learning. In addition, the spectrogram image is input to the CNN to reflect the frequency characteristic of the vibration signals with time. The performance of fault diagnosis according to various load condition and transfer learning method was compared and evaluated by experiments. The results showed that the proposed algorithm exhibited an excellent performance.

  • As rotating machines play an important role in industrial applications such as aeronautical, naval and automotive industries, many researchers have developed various condition monitoring system and fault diagnosis system by applying various techniques such as signal processing and pattern recognition. Recently, fault diagnosis systems using artificial neural network have been proposed. For effective fault diagnosis, this paper used MLP(multi-layer perceptron) network which is widely used in pattern classification. Since using obtained signals without preprocessing as inputs of neural network can decrease performance of fault classification, it is very important to extract significant features of captured signals and to apply suitable features into diagnosis system according to the kinds of obtained signals. Therefore, this paper proposes the decision method of the proper feature vectors about each fault signal for neural-network-based fault diagnosis system. We applied LPC coefficients, maximum magnitudes of each spectral section in FFT and RMS(root mean square) and variance of wavelet coefficients as feature vectors and selected appropriate feature vectors as comparing error ratios of fault diagnosis for sound, vibration and current fault signals. From experiment results, LPC coefficients and maximum magnitudes of each spectral section showed 100 % diagnosis ratios for each fault and the method using wavelet coefficients had noise-robust characteristic.

  • In this paper, it is shown how Fuzzy Pattern Matching can be applied to diagnosis of the most common faults of Rotating Machinery. The whole diagnosis process has been divided in three steps : Fault Detection, Fault Isolation and Fault Identification, whose possible results are described by linguistic patterns. Diagnosis will consist in obtaining a set of matching indexes that indexes that express the compatibility of the fuzzified features extracted from the measured vibration signals, with the knowledge contained in the corresponding patterns.

  • For fault diagnosis of machines and equipments, knowledge-based method has been used widely but has some limitations for complex systems. These can be covered by model-based method. As one kind of model-based method, Qualitative modeling diagnosis method is developed in this research. The developed method uses output signal only. In this method quantization of the output signal mattes automata which can characterize the flow of the signal pattern to normal and fault respectively. As an example of the qualitative diagnosis method, an electric tool which has faults at gear and bearing were examined in this research. The result shows that the developed method can diagnose the fault clearly for the two fault cases.
