EVALUATION OF GALVANIC CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF SA-508 LOW ALLOY STEEL AND TYPE 309L STAINLESS STEEL CLADDING OF REACTOR PRESSURE VESSEL UNDER SIMULATED PRIMARY WATER ENVIRONMENT

  • The article presented is concerned with an evaluation of the corrosion behavior of SA-508 low alloy steel (LAS) and Type 309L stainless steel (SS) cladding of a reactor pressure vessel under the simulated primary water chemistry of a pressurized water reactor (PWR). The uniform corrosion and galvanic corrosion rates of SA-508 LAS and Type 309L SS were measured in three different control conditions: power operation, shutdown, and power operation followed by shutdown. In all conditions, the dissimilar metal coupling of SA-508 LAS and Type 309L SS exhibited higher corrosion rates than the SA-508 base metal itself due to severe galvanic corrosion near the cladding interface, while the corrosion of Type 309L in the primary water environment was minimal. The galvanic corrosion rate of the SA-508 LAS and Type 309L SS couple measured under the simulated power operation condition was much lower than that measured in the simulated shutdown condition due to the formation of magnetite on the metal surface in a reducing environment. Based on the experimental results, the corrosion rate of SA-508 LAS clad with Type 309L SS was estimated as a function of operating cycle simulated for a typical PWR.

거대선의 정의에 관한 고찰 (On the Definition of the Large Vessel)

  • 해사안전법에서는 거대선을 전장 200m 이상의 선박으로 정의하고 있다. 이 기준은 1986년에 도입된 이후, 선박이 대형화되는 등 해상교통환경이 큰 폭으로 변화하였음에도 개정되지 않고 있다. 전장 200m는 건화물선의 경우 핸디막스급에 해당하여 현대 선박의 크기 분류에서는 대형선박으로 보기 어렵다. 한편, 해사안전법에서 거대선이란 용어가 적용되는 조항은 교통안전특정해역에 관한 조항으로, 거대선의 통항이 잦을 해역을 교통안전특정해역으로 설정할 수 있도록 하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 해사관련 법령을 검토하여 이미 전장 200m 이상 선박보다 큰 선박에 대한 법령이 도입되어 있음을 조사하였다. 또한, 국내 각 항만의 입항 선박 통계를 조사하여 현 다섯 구역의 교통안전특정해역보다 거대선의 통항이 많은 해역이 존재함을 확인하였다. 따라서, 본 연구의 결론으로 해사안전법에서 거대선 관련 조항 삭제 및 교통안전특정해역으로 설정할 수 있는 통항 선박의 전장 기준을 상향할 것을 개선방안으로 제시하였다.

  • The use of satellite remote sensing in maritime safety and security can aid in the detection of illegal fishing activities and provide more efficient use of limited aircraft or patrol craft resources. In the area of vessel traffic monitoring for commercial vessels, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) which use the ground-based radar system have some difficulties in detecting moving ships due to the limited detection range. A virtual vessel traffic control system is introduced to contribute to prevent a marine accident such as collision and stranding from happening. Existing VTS has its limit. The virtual vessel traffic control system consists of both data acquisition by satellite remote sensing and a simulation of traffic environment stress based on the satellite data, remotely sensed data. And it could be used to provide timely and detailed information about the marine safety, including the location, speed and direction of ships, and help us operate vessels safely and efficiently. If environmental stress values are simulated for the ship information derived from satellite data, proper actions can be taken to prevent accidents. Since optical sensor has a high spatial resolution, JERS satellite data are used to track ships and extract their information. We present an algorithm of automatic identification of ship size and velocity. This paper lastly introduce the field testing results of ship detection by RADARSAT SAR imagery, and propose a new approach for a Vessel Monitoring System(VMS), including VTS, and SAR combination service.

방제선 배치 항만의 개선 방안 (A Study on the Improvement for Port Placement of Response Vessel)

  • 현행 방제선 배치 항만의 합리적인 방안을 모색하고자 국내 주요 항만을 대상으로 이용실태와 위험요인의 분포현황을 조사하여 각 항만별 위험도를 평가하고 위험도 산정 값을 기준으로 전체 항만을 4단계의 위험군으로 분류하여 방제선 배치 항만의 현실화를 추구하였다. 그 결과 항만의 위험도는 대규모 석유화학 산업시설이 위치하고 있는 여수 광양항(1.85), 울산항(1.33), 대산항(1.25)이 특히 높게 나타나고, 선박 통항량이 많은 부산항(0.95), 인천항(0.83)과 최근 항만시설의 확충으로 대형선 통항량이 증가한 목포항(0.71)과 제주항(0.49), 주변에 어업권 허가건수가 많은 마산항(0.44) 순서로 나타났다. 또한, 위험도 값이 가장 높게 나타난 여수 광양항을 기준으로 각 항만의 상대적 비율을 등급화하여 위험군을 4단계로 구분했을 때 최고위험군은 여수 광양항, 울산항, 대산항, 부산항이고, 고위험군은 인천항, 목포항, 제주항, 마산항이며, 중위험군은 평택 당진항, 포항항, 군산항, 동해 묵호항, 저위험군은 삼천포항, 옥계항, 장승포항으로 분류되었다. 이 중 현행 법률상 방제선 배치항만은 모두 중위험군 이상의 항만이며 중위험군으로 새롭게 평가되는 목포항, 제주항, 동해 묵호항은 제외되어 있다. 따라서 이들 3개 항만을 방제선 배치항만으로 새롭게 지정하여 기름오염사고에 대비할 필요가 있다.

  • From the 1978 Seasat synthetic aperture radar(SAR) to present systems, spaceborne SAR has demonstrated the capability to image the Earth's ocean and land features over broad areas, day and night, and under most weather conditions. The application of SAR for surveillance of commercial fishing grounds can did in the detection of illegal fishing activities and provides more efficient use cf limited aircraft or patron craft resources. In the area of vessel traffic monitoring for commercial vessels, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) which uses the ground-based radar system has some difficulties in detecting moving ships due to the limited detection range cf about 10 miles. This paper introduces the field testing results of ship detection by RADARSAT SAR imagery, and proposes a new approach for a Vessel Monitoring System(VMS), including VTS, and SAR combination service.

강재 충돌방호공의 선박충돌력산정 (A bridge-vessel collision force of steel fender system)

  • In this study, the impact analysis for the steel fender system that designed for protection of collision between vessel and bridge was performed The size of objective collision vessel assumed as 3000 dead weight tonnage(DWT). The impact forces and the impact energies were estimated by formulas of several design codes, and the steel fender system was designed based on the estimated forces and energy. The bow of objective vessel was modeled as rigid body, and bridge substructure was modeled as fixed support. Since, the impact analysis have the dynamic nonlinear features, such as, material nonlinear, large deformation and contact, explicit structural analysis program was used The analysis results presented that the impact forces formulas in codes have the sufficient conservativeness.

  • Recently, a request of protection environment for ocean has been increased. Owing to the reason above the development of highly efficient control technique for low pollution vessel diesel engine is concerned. In this paper, we study a method of remote diagnosis and monitoring for vessel diesel engine which is better safe and environmental friendly. Specially we propose the user interface building method of vessel diesel engine remote monitoring system using Internet.

고정밀도 솔레노이드 방식의 원자로 제어봉 위치지시기 (High Precision Solenoid Type Nuclear Reactor Control Rod Position Indicator)

  • Control Rod Position Indicator in nuclear reactor vessel has developed for small reactor in Korea. Because of severe environment in reactor vessel, target of this study is to develop the suitable position indicator. In this study, solenoid type position indicator made of Mineral Insulated Cable(MI Cable) was introduced to adapt in severe environment. And inductance of the solenoid was used to indicate the rod position for high precision. But problem of this concept is that a linear slope of inductance is changed by temperature effect. To resolve this problem, two sensing coils were introduced for temperature compensation. A role of the sensing coil is to make reference linear equation about certain temperature. To confirm this concept, also, inductance of solenoid and sensing coils were measured at room and high temperature (${\sim}300^{\circ}C$). The results of measurement show that the position error of sensing coil between room and high temperature was about 2%. But it was identified that this error was resulted from insufficient test environment (temperature error between solenoid and sensing coils was about 2% at high temperature condition). Therefore, solenoid type position indicator shows that it is very suitable in reactor vessel as a high precision rod position indicator.

해상교통 관제 빅데이터 체계의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Bigdata Platform for Vessel Traffic Service)

  • 해상교통관제센터에는 RADAR, AIS(Automatic Identification System), 기상센서, VHF(Very High Frequency) 등이 설치되어 운영되고 있으며, 해상교통관제사는 이를 활용하여 관제구역을 통항하는 선박의 동정을 관찰하고 정보를 제공하는 관제 업무를 수행한다. 이들 장비에서 생성되는 각종 관제 데이터는 해상교통 상황을 분석하기 위한 자료로 그 활용 가치가 매우 높지만, 시스템 제조사간 호환성 부족 또는 정책상의 문제로 인해 체계적으로 관리되지 않고 있는 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 해상교통관제센터에서 수집되는 관제 데이터를 효율적으로 수집, 저장, 관리할 수 있는 관제 빅데이터 체계를 개발하였다. 개발된 관제 빅데이터 체계는 체계 개발의 중요한 이슈 중 하나였던 운영 안정성을 확보하기 위해 마이크로서비스 아키텍처를 적용하였으며, 효율적인 실시간 운항 정보의 탐색을 위해 저장소를 이원화하여 체계 성능을 향상시킬 수 있었다. 구현된 체계는 실해역 데이터를 적용한 시범 운영을 통해 성능을 확인하고 추가적인 개선 사항을 파악하였으며, 실제 관제 환경에서의 활용 가능성을 검토하였다.
