A three-dimensional analysis is required to interpret the drainage behavior of an improved ground with vertical drains, and the macroelement method enables efficient interpretation considering the three-dimensional drainage effect of vertical drains under two-dimensional plane strain condition. In this study, a novel finite element analysis program was developed by applying the macroelement method to the vacuum consolidation method used in ground improvement practice. The conventional macroelement method was used to calculate the amount of drainage from the vertical drain by setting the excess porewater pressure in the drainage material to zero; however, the program developed in this study was improved to consider negative excess porewater pressure as an actual vacuum consolidation condition. To verify the performance of the program, because of a comparison with the measurement values at the site where the vacuum consolidation method was applied, results predicted by the program and field measurement data showed similar settlement behavior.
In order to get ultimate pullout resistance of ground anchor, the position of failure surface, normal stress and friction angle on the failure surface should be known. In this study, the position of failure surface is obtained by observing deformation of ground around anchor, and stresses on the anchor surface are analyzed by measuring normal and shear stresses on the anchor surface through model anchor test in plane strain. In addition, the relationship between lateral earth pressure and the position of failure surface is analyzed and the formula for calculating ultimate pullout resistance of anchor is proposed by using non-dimensional coefficient of ultimate pullout resistance.
A circular tank foundation resting on the ground and subjected to axisymmetric horizontal and vertical loads and moments is analyzed using the variational principles of mechanics. The circular foundation is assumed to behave as a Kirchhoff plate with in-plane and transverse displacements. The soil beneath the foundation is assumed to be a multi-layered continuum in which the horizontal and vertical displacements are expressed as products of separable functions. The differential equations of plate and soil displacements are obtained by minimizing the total potential energy of the plate-soil system and are solved using the finite element and finite difference methods following an iterative algorithm. Comparisons with the results of equivalent two-dimensional finite element analysis and other researchers establish the accuracy of the method.

This paper presents two ground plane effects due to the size of two rectangular apertures for two-wire transmission line with equal line length crossing the changeable rectangular apertures in infinite ground planes. The CST MWS is used to determine the characteristics of the insertion loss of the transmission line from the load section in accordance with the ground plane aperture size. The results show that the insertion gain and the insertion loss are periodically observed for the multiple frequency of the half wavelength resonance by the wire length when the transmission line is nearby to horizontal side or vertical side of the aperture. The measurements of the insertion loss are performed to verify the theoretical analysis.
Nowadays natural resources on shore have been almost exhausted all over the world and mankind is beginning searching for unexploited resources on the bed of deep-sea floor. In exploring mineral resources and etc. in the ground of sea-bed, a sumbersible craft is one of the most important tools. These days, the stage of the technique of building and operating an exploring submersible craft is almost alike that of building and operating an airplane in the first years of the nineteen-twenties. At the present time, the problems arising in building and operating a submersible craft can be divided into four parts as follows; 1. How to build a hull that can bear high pressure under deep sea level. 2. How to decide the necessary facilities to be put on it. 3. How to decide the scope of stabilities and maneuvering characteristics of it. 4. On what sea conditions, the devices of launching and recovering it should be designed on the mother-ship. In this paper treating one of the third problems the author made a mathematic formula that can be useful in deciding the scope of dynamic course stability on the vertical plane and actually calculated the onset speed of pitch instability of an exploring craft. With the above mentioned calculations the author demonstrated that the value of $Z_g$ and the speed of a submerged craft are the most important factors in decideing the scope of dynamic stability on the vertical plane.
Structured light vision system has been widely used in 3D surface profiling. Usually, it is composed of a camera and a laser which projects a line on the target. Calibration is necessary to acquire 3D information using structured light stripe vision system. Conventional calibration algorithms have found the pose of the camera and the equation of the stripe plane of the laser under the same coordinate system of the camera. Therefore, the 3D reconstruction is only possible under the camera frame. In most cases, this is sufficient to fulfill given tasks. However, they require multiple images which are acquired under different poses for calibration. In this paper, we propose a calibration algorithm that could work by using just one shot. Also, proposed algorithm could give 3D reconstruction under both the camera and laser frame. This would be done by using newly designed calibration structure which has multiple vertical planes on the ground plane. The ability to have 3D reconstruction under both the camera and laser frame would give more flexibility for its applications. Also, proposed algorithm gives an improvement in the accuracy of 3D reconstruction.

The aim of this study is to investigate the seismic resistance of dry stone arches under in-plane seismic loading. For that purpose, several numerical analyses were performed using the combined finite-discrete element method (FDEM). Twelve types of arches with different ratios of a rise at the mid-span to the span, different thicknesses of stone blocks and different numbers of stone blocks in the arch were subjected to an incremental dynamic analysis based on excitation from three real horizontal and vertical ground motions. The minimum value of the failure peak ground acceleration that caused the collapse of the arch was adopted as a measure of the seismic resistance. In this study, the collapse mechanisms of each type of stone arch, as well as the influence of the geometry of stone blocks and stone arches on the seismic resistance of structures were observed. The conclusions obtained on the basis of the performed numerical analyses can be used as guidelines for the design of dry stone arches.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to understand the injury mechanism and to provide quantitative data to use in prevention or posture correction training by conducting kinematic and kinetic analyses of risk factors of lower extremity joint injury depending on the change of direction at different angles after a landing motion. Method: This study included 11 men in their twenties (age: $24.6{\pm}1.7years$, height: $176.6{\pm}4.4cm$, weight: $71.3{\pm}8.0kg$) who were right-leg dominant. By using seven infrared cameras (Oqus 300, Qualisys, Sweden), one force platform (AMTI, USA), and an accelerometer (Noraxon, USA), single-leg drop landing was performed at a height of 30 cm. The joint range of motion (ROM) of the lower extremity, peak joint moment, peak joint power, peak vertical ground reaction force (GRF), and peak vertical acceleration were measured. For statistical analysis, one-way repeated-measures analysis of variance was conducted at a significance level of ${\alpha}$ <.05. Results: Ankle and knee joint ROM in the sagittal plane significantly differed, respectively (F = 3.145, p = .024; F = 14.183, p = .000), depending on the change of direction. However, no significant differences were observed in the ROM of ankle and knee joint in the transverse plane. Significant differences in peak joint moment were also observed but no statistically significant differences were found in negative joint power between the conditions. Peak vertical GRF was high in landing (LAD) and after landing, left $45^{\circ}$ cutting (LLC), with a significant difference (F = 9.363, p = .000). The peak vertical acceleration was relatively high in LAD and LLC compared with other conditions, but the difference was not significant. Conclusion: We conclude that moving in the left direction may expose athletes to greater injury risk in terms of joint kinetics than moving in the right direction. However, further investigation of joint injury mechanisms in sports would be required to confirm these findings.
This study was carried out tn invstigate and compare biomechanical characteristics during free speed gait in hemiplegic patients after stroke who took therapeutic exercise by analyzing kinematic and kinetic data in the sagital plane and electromyographic data. Six patients($41\~69$ years old) and age-matched six volunteers in good health(51-61 years old) wire studied. The patients were sorted into two groups, depending on their self-speed of walking : fast speed group(3 patients) and slow speed group(3 patients). The results were as fellows. : 1. In spatio-temparal parameters, affected and unaffected side of fast group showed symetry but blew group showed asymetry of single limb support, opposite foot contact and stance phase (p<0.05). Compared with normal group, patient group showed slower velocity, shoter stride length and longer double limb support (p<0.05). 2. In the pelvic anterior tilt, patient group showed lower valued than normal group. It. In the ground reaction force-vertical force, fast group showed similar double peak gragh compared with normal group, butvslow group showed lower values without double peak (p<0.05).

In this paper, we propose a dual-spiral line loaded monopole antenna having a vertical ground plane for quadband applications. The antenna occupies a volume of $38{\times}12{\times}7\;mm^3$ with a $40{\times}92\;mm^2$ ground plane. The measured impedance bandwidths of the antenna based on $VSWR{\le}2$ are approximately of 11.7 % and 24.8 % in the first and second frequency band, respectively. The operating frequency can simultaneously cover Cellular($0.824{\sim}0.894\;GHz$), PCS($1.750{\sim}1.870\;MHz$), UMTS($1.920{\sim}2.170\;MHz$), and IMT-2000($1.885{\sim}2.200\;GHz$) bands. The maximum gains of the antenna are -0.99 dBi, 4.07 dBi, 2.72 dBi, and 4.33 dBi at the center frequencies of the Cellular, PCS, UMTS, and IMT-2000 bands, respectively. Good radiation patterns are experimentally obtained.
