연직판형 부소파제의 수리학적 특성과 동적거동 (Hydraulic Characteristics and Dynamic Behaviors of Floating Breakwater with Vertical Plates)

  • In order to develop a floating breakwater, which can efficiently control long period waves, vertical plates are attached in pontoon. Wave control and dynamic behaviors of the newly developed vertical plates type are verified from numerical analysis and hydraulic experiment. As a result, for the wave control and energy dissipation, the newly developed vertical plates type is more efficient than the conventional pontoon type. For the floating body motion, the wave transmission, depending on incident wave period, is decreased at the natural frequency. Dimensionless drift distance has similar trend of the reflection rate of wave transformation near natural frequency except maximum and minimum values. Dimensionless maximum tension is 17 percent of the weight of floating breakwater in case of the conventional pontoon type and 18 percent or 14 percent in case of the newly developed vertical plates type. Thus, it is shown that the wave control is improved by the vertical plates type. In addition, by adjusting the interval of the front and back vertical plate, we would control proper wave control.

연직관측자료를 통한 복잡 연안지역의 오존 이류특성 (Characteristics of Ozone Advection in Vertical Observation Analysis Around Complex Coastal Area)

  • In order to clarify the vertical ozone distribution in planetary boundary layer of coastal area with complex terrain, an observation campaign was carried out around Gwangyang Bay with dense pollutant emission sources during two days from June, 4 2007. For this observation are Radiosonde, SODAR(SOnic Detection And Ranging) and Tethered ozone sonde were employed. The surface meteorological and photochemical observation data provided by AWS (Automatic Weather System) and AQMS (Air Quality Monitoring System) were also applied for analysis. Synoptic condition is strongly associated with lower level ozone distribution in complex terrain coastal area. Since mesoscale circulation induced by difference of characteristics of land and sea and orographic forcing is predominant under calm synoptic condition, vertical distribution of ozone is complicate and vertical ozone concentration greatly fluctuated. However in second day when synoptic influence become strong, ozone concentration in lower levels is vertically uniform regardless of observation level. This results in vertical observation indicates that vertical ozone distribution is often determined by synoptic condition and also affects surface ozone concentration.

Plant-scale experiments of an air inflow accident under sub-atmospheric pressure by pipe break in an open-pool type research reactor

  • In an open-pool type research reactor with a downward forced flow in the core, pipes can be under sub-atmospheric pressure because of the large pressure drop at the reactor core in the atmospheric pool. Sub-atmospheric pressure can result in air inflow into the pipe from the pressure difference between the atmosphere and the inside of the pipe, which in a postulated pipe break scenario can lead to the breakdown of the cooling pump. In this study, a plant-scale experiment was conducted to study air inflow in large piping systems by considering the actual operational conditions of an advanced research reactor. The air inflow rate was measured, and the entrained air was visualized to investigate the behavior of air inflow and flow regime depending on the pipe break size. In addition, the developed drift-flux model for a large vertical pipe with a diameter of 600 mm was compared with other correlations. The flow regime transition in a large vertical pipe under downward flow was also studied using the newly developed drift-flux model. Consequently, the characteristics of two-phase flow in a large vertical pipe were found to differ from those in small vertical pipes where liquid recirculation was not dominant.

실습선의 거주위치 변경에 따른 수직가속도 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study on Decrease of Vertical Accelerations due to Changes in Location of the Habitation Division for Training Ship)

  • Research on ship motion and seasickness is recognized as the important research area to ensure the pleasant operative environment in addition to the research of operation safety of ship. In this paper, the motion performance in waves for the training ship Kaya of Pukyong National University is obtained by using the computer program based on Strip Method. To guarantee the pleasant seafaring in ocean, the vertical acceleration of ship motion is calculated according to the habitation division location in the ship. The results of calculation by changes of location of habitation division are compared with the guideline of MSI(Motion Sickness Incidence). The degree of motion sickness is shown and discussed through the comparison between calculated vertical acceleration spectrum and MSI guideline. To improve the safety of ship in motion and the pleasant seafaring in waves, the downtrend of seasickness ratio is needed by the decrease on vertical acceleration of the ship. Through the results in this paper, the relocation of both bridge and accommodation toward the aftship reduced the vertical acceleration and MSI.

우리나라 남해안에 서식하는 민달고기(Zenopsis nebulosa)의 수직분포와 식성 (Vertical Distribution and Feeding Ecology of the Mirror Dory Zenopsis nebulosa in the Southern Sea of Korea)

  • We observed the vertical distribution and feeding ecology of the Mirror dory, Zenopsis nebulosa, in the Southern Sea of Korea from 2009 to 2013 using an otter trawl. The total length of captured individuals ranged from 11 to 48 cm. Individuals captured at greater depths were significantly larger than those from shallower sites. Fish abundance was significantly related to depth and temperature. We found that 89% of the total catch was obtained at depths between 80 and 140 meters. Prey organisms, including fish, crustaceans, and cephalopods, were found in Z. nebulosa stomachs. Fishes were the main prey items for all size groups. Cephalopods were consumed by individuals > 25 cm in length. Our findings suggested that the vertical distribution of Z. nebulosa varied with depth and temperature, and that the fish are carnivores.

한반도 서해상으로 장거리 이동하는 SO2의 농도 및 연직분포 특징 (The Vertical Distribution Patterns of Long Range Transported SO2 in Korea Peninsula)

  • This study was carried out to understand long-range transport of $SO_2$ using aircraft measurements for the identification of it's horizontal and vertical concentration and distribution pattern. Thirteen missions of aircraft measurements have been done around 37$^{\circ}$00'/124$^{\circ}$30' from October 1997 to November 2001. Concentrations of $SO_2$ was 1.5~2.0 ppb in the below mixing layer, 0.6~1.1 ppb in the above mixing layer. $SO_2$ was found to be relatively higher than marine background level, 0.08~0.2ppb, indicating the western coast being influenced by long-range transport except for the summer season. The vertical distribution of $SO_2$ was classified into 3 groups using its vertical sounding and meteorology pattern; the first is linear decay pattern, the second is exponential decay pattern, and the last is gaussian distribution pattern in the below mixing layer, 2 patterns of linear decay and gaussian distribution patterns in the upper layer. It is founded that vertical distribution pattern is strongly dependent on meteorological condition, for example atmospheric stability and predominant air flow.

  • 치아 상실로 인한 구치부의 지지 상실은 전치부의 보상성 정출 및 순측경사 이동으로 이어질 가능성이 존재하고, 이에 따른 과개교합 및 교합수직고경의 감소를 동반할 수 있다. 환자는 저작효율의 감소와 더불어 부정확한 발음과 안모의 변화, 턱관절의 기능 장애를 겪을 가능성이 있으므로 구치부의 지지와 교합수직고경의 회복을 통해 안정적인 교합 형성의 필요성이 있다. 본 증례는 다수의 치아 상실로 인해 수직고경이 감소하여 부정확한 발음을 가진 환자를 대상으로 발음분석을 동반하여 수직고경을 증가시켜 완전 구강 회복술을 시행하였으며 기능적, 심미적으로 만족할 만한 결과를 얻었기에 보고하고자 한다.

종관 특성에 따른 지상 및 연직 관측자료 동화가 수평 및 연직 확산장에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Surface and Vertical Observation Data Assimilation on the Horizontal and Vertical Flow Fields Depending on the Upper Wind Conditions)

  • In order to incorporate correctly the large or local scale circulation in an atmospheric model, a nudging term is introduced into the equation of motion. The MM5 model was used to assess the meteorological values differences in each case, during ozone episode days in Gwangyang bay. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of horizontal and vertical flow fields according to the surface and vertical observation data assimilation by upper wind conditions. Therefore, we carried out several numerical experiments with various parameterization methods for nudging coefficient considering the upper wind conditions (synoptic or asynoptic condition). Nudging considering the synoptic and asynoptic nudging coefficient does have a clear advantage over dynamic initialization, therefore appropriate limitation of these nudging coefficient values on its upper wind conditions is necessary before making an assessment. Obviously, under the weak synoptic wind, there was apparent advantage associated with nudging coefficient by the regional difference. The accuracy for the prediction of the meteorological values has been improved by applying the appropriate PBL (Planetary Boundary Layer) limitation of circulation.

한국 연근해 고등어(Scomber japonicus) 알의 비중과 수직분포 (Buoyancy and Vertical Distribution of Mackerel Scomber japonicus Eggs in Korean Waters)

  • This study simulated the egg vertical distribution of mackerel Scomber japonicus in Korean waters using general numerical models. All eggs were spawned naturally by raising broodfishes (May-June 2013), and the egg specific gravity was measured by a density-gradient column. CTD surveys provided environmental data (e.g., temperature and salinity) in May near Jeju Island, Korea. The egg specific gravity during the early stages ranged from 1.0203-1.0211. In general, the fertilized eggs showed a gradual decline in egg specific gravity until full development of the main organs, with a sudden increase just before hatching. Modeled egg vertical distributions were influenced more by wind speed than by egg buoyancy and vertical structure of the sea water. During calm and normal wind speeds, the eggs were distributed from the surface to 25-m depths. Under strong wind conditions (three times higher than the normal speed), the egg concentration on the surface decreased, and the egg distributional depth was deeper (~50 m).

한반도 겨울철 공기이동경로에 따른 에어로졸 농도의 연직분포 특성 (Characteristics of Vertical Profiles of Local Aerosol Mass Concentration According to Air Mass Pathways over the Korean Peninsula During Winter)

  • Vertical distributions of aerosol mass concentrations over Seoul and Gangneung from January to February 2015 were investigated using aerosol Mie-scattering lidars. Vertical mass concentration of aerosol was calculated from the lidar data using KALION's algorithm and quantitatively compared with ground PM10 concentration to obtain objectivity of data. The backward trajectories calculated using HYSPLIT (version 4) were clustered into 5 traces for Seoul and 6 traces for Gangneung, and the observed aerosol vertical mass distribution was analyzed for individual trajectories. Result from the analysis shows that, aerosol concentrations with in the planetary boundary layer were highest when airflows into the measurement points originated in the Shandong Peninsula or the Inner Mongolia. In addition, the difference of aerosol mass concentrations in the two regions below 1 km was about twice as large as that in the long range transport from the Shandong Peninsula compared to the local emission. This result shows that the air quality over Korea related to particulate matters are affected more by aerosol emissions in the upstream source regions and the associated transboundary transports than local emissions. This study also suggests that the use of local aerosol observations is critical for accurate simulations of aerosol-cloud interactions.
