A commercial CFD code is applied to analyze the 3-D viscous flow field within vertical multi-stage centrifugal pimp including impeller with 6 blades and guide vane with 11 blades and is performed by changing flow rate from 10 to $26\;m^3/h$ at the constant 3500rpm. The purpose of this 3-D numerical simulation is to confirm how much the effect of blade inlet angle of guide vane has an influence on the performance of vertical multi-stage centrifugal pimp. these results performed by $20^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}$ inlet angle of guide vane are compared with grundfos performance data. The vertical multi-stage pump consist of the impeller, guide vane, and cylinder. The characteristics such as total pressure coefficient total heat shaft horse power, power efficiency, discharge coefficient are represented according to flow rate changing.
I obtained result like these to practice accommodation test using Spherical Add method and Cross cylinder lens method. The 242 eyes(121 persons) in test was the young and middle age people and their age was from 19 to 41. 1. Using Spherical Add, I tested accommodation. The twenties's limits of accommodation were 9~13 Diopter, and thirties to fourties's limits of accommodation were 6~8.5 Diopter. 2. Using Cross cylinder lens in the test of accommodation twenties's average accommodation limits were appeared 6.13 Diopter~10.13 Diopter, thirties average accommodation limits were 5.75 Diopter~8.75 Diopter and fourties's average accommodation limits were 4.38 Diopter~7.25 Diopter. All men women have had more good accommodation of the horizontal direction than the vertical direction. 3. Using Spherical Add method and Cross cylinder lens method, the results of accommodation were shown like these. Accommodation that measured with spherical add method was more big than cross cylinder's accommodation measuring method. Finally I found the fact accommodation decreases as age goes.
An effective heat transfer during freezing process was proposed in the vertical cylinder to improve the effectiveness of the heat storage. Vertical cylinder was filled with pure water in order to investigate ice-shape, temperature distribution of the liquid, temperature distribution of the cylinder tube wall, total heat storage per unit mass in the test section under the two experimental conditions; inlet temperature of working fluid is constant($-10^{\circ}C$) and inlet direction of working fluid is either upward flow or downward. Both the mean temperature of the liquid and temperature difference of cylinder tube wall in the upward were lower than those in the downward. In case that the initial temperature of water was $7^{\circ}C$ and $4^{\circ}C$, the shape of ice layer in the upward was more uniform than that in the downward. In case of $1^{\circ}C$, the shape of ice layer is formed by inlet direction of working fluid. Finally, time-varying total heat energy stored in the water in the upward was higher than that in the downward.
Natural convection in the annulus between a horizontal conducting tube and a cylinder with spacers has been studied by 2-dimensional numerical method with finite difference techniques. The effects of Rayleigh number, conductivities of conducting tube and spacer, and position of spacers were studied analytically. In case of vertical spacers, the maximum local Nusselt number appears at ${\theta}{\approx}50^{\circ}$ in a conducting tube and ${\theta}{\approx}30^{\circ}$ in an outer cylinder, The local Nusselt numbers show positive values on the lower spacer, but negative values on the surface of the upper spacer. In case of horizontal spacers, the flow over the spacer is more active than that of under the spacer as the Rayleigh number increases. The maximum local Nusselt appeares at ${\theta}=180^{\circ}$ in a conducting tube and at ${\theta}=0^{\circ}$ in an outer cylinder. The local Nusselt numbers show positive values on the upward surface, but negative values on the downward surface of spacer. As the dimensionless conductivity increases, the mean Nusselt number remarkably increases at $K_w/K_f<48$ and show almost even at $K_w/K_f{\ge}48$. The mean Nusselt number of a conducting tube with vertical spacers is 5.12 percent less and with horizontal spacers is 11.33 percent less than that of a conducting tube without spacer at $Ra=10^4$, Pr = 0.7 and $K_w/K_f=48$.

Surface protrusions have been attached on a cylinder surface to reduce the flow-induced structural vibration by controlling the wake flow. Wind tunnel tests on the near wake of a circular cylinder with surface protrusions were carried out to investigate the flow characteristics of the controlled wake. Three experimental models were used in this experiment; one plain cylinder of diameter D and two cylinders wrapped helically by three small wires of diameter d=0.075D with pitches of 5D and 10D, respectively. Free stream velocity was ranged to have Reynolds number from 5000 to 50,000. Streamwise and vertical velocity components of the wake were measured by a hot-wire anemometry. The spanwise velocity component measured by a one-component fiber optic LDV revealed that time-averaged wake field has a nearly two-dimensional structure. It was found that the surface protrusions elongate the vortex formation region, which decrease the vortex shedding frequency. The suppression of vortices caused by the surface protrusions increases the velocity deficit in the center of wake region.

Measurements results of flow-structure-interactions (FSI) of an air-lifted body are introduced. An adaptive stereoscopic-PIV system has been constructed for the measurements of the air-lifted body. The measurement system consists of two cameras and optical sensors. The flow characteristics around a lifted cylinder body(length=60mmm, diameter =10mm, polystyrene) in the swirling flow field in a vertical pipe (length=600mm, inner diameter=) are investigated by the use of the constructed adaptive stereoscopic-PIV system. The images of the two cameras were used for the analysis of the flow fields around the floated cylinder body. The images of the cylinder body captured by the two cameras were used for the analyses of its motions. Four optical sensors (LED) were used for the detection of the postures of the freely-lifted cylinder body. The FSI analyses have been carried out to find the physical conditions at which the floating body is stabilized with its upright postures.

This study analyzes the nonlinear interaction between two different vortex shedding frequencies from a cylinder with two diameters. In particular, two different vortex shedding frequencies are generated by preparing a cylinder having two diameters artificially. Flow velocity fluctuations behind the cylinder are measured three-dimensionally. Additionally, we fabricated a hole and placed a pressure transducer for measuring the pressure on the cylinder surface. The pressure signal from the pressure transducer is used as basic signal. A TSC(Trans Spectrum Coherence) is used for checking the strength of the nonlinear interaction between two different vortex shedding frequencies. As a result, the following are clarified: i) frequency distribution behind the cylinder, ii) three-dimensional flow state behind the cylinder through calculation of ensemble average, and iii) close relationship between the vertical vortex and change of low frequency by nonlinear interaction between two different vortex shedding frequencies from the cylinder with two diameters.

In this paper, we report the numerical and experimental solutions of the axi-symmetric flows in the axial plane driven by an impingement of fluid from the bottom wall of a circular cylinder. We managed to visualize successfully the flow pattern shown on the vertical plane through the container axis. The numerical results are shown to compare well with the experimental results for the case of infinity Rossby number. The satisfactory agreement between the two results was possible when in the numerics the free surface was treated as a solid wall so that a no-slip condition was applied on the surface. The numerical solutions reveal that inertial oscillation plays an important role at small Rossby numbers, or at a larger background rotation.

In this paper, the second order time mean forces acting on the circular cylinder floating on the free surface of a finite water depth are calculated. Under the assumption that fluid is idea and the wave the linear gravity wave, the velocity potential is calculated by the source distribution method, and the second order time mean lateral and vertical drifting forces are calculated by the direct integration of fluid pressures over the immersed body surface. The comparison of the lateral drifting forces with Rhee's results by momentum theorem shows good agreements. And it is shown that the second order time sinkage forces of a floating circular cylinder cross zero for all water depths.
In this paper, we report the numerical and experimental solutions of the dynamic characteristics of a vortex ring in a circular cylinder generated by impinging a fluid blob from a hole on the bottom wall of the cylinder. We managed to visualize successfully the flow pattern shown on the vertical and horizontal planes by using a specially designed optical apparatus. Results of three-dimensional computation for the flow are shown to be in a satisfactory agreement with the experimental ones. We also report the experimental results which show a breaking of the axi-symmetric pattern after the vortex touches the free surface.
