  • Verruca plana is a cutaneous infection caused by the human papilloma virus. Although various treatment methods are currently available, most have limitations due to the risk of complications such as hyperpigmentation, edema, and scarring. Moreover, as the infection tends to spread easily, new verrucae can potentially develop, and treatment procedure times tend to be lengthy. Thus, novel treatment methods are required. The 2790-nm wavelength erbium:yttrium-scandium-gallium-garnet (Er:YSGG) laser is a superficial resurfacing laser. Here, we present a case of a 25-year-old woman with multiple verrucae treated using a 2790-nm Er:YSGG laser. Compared to traditional methods, this novel laser is convenient, produces better cosmetic outcomes, and is less time-consuming; it is therefore suitable for the treatment of facial verruca plana.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Combination therapy with Gwakhyangjeonggisangamibang and Sojangjeonggyeok on patients with verucca plana. Methods : Sixty-five patients(male 19, female 46) with verruca plana were treated with Gwakhyangjeonggisangamibang and Sojangjeonggyeok for at least 3 months. After treatment, a clearance rate was divided into 4 scales such as; complete clearance / partial clearance-good / partial clearance-poor / no change. Statistical analysis was performed by using Independent-sample t-test. Results : Mean age of patients was 30.3 and mean period of disease duration was 64.6 months. Fifty-eight patients(73.8%) showed complete clearance, nine(13.8%) partial clearance-good, and eight(12.3%) partial clearance-poor. Complete clearance group(CC group) was statistically younger than failure group and disease duration of CC group was shorter than failure group. Although treatment period of failure group was statistically longer than CC group and dosage(貼) of herbal medicine of failure group was more than CC group, failure group showed partial clearance. Conclusion : This data demonstrates that combination therapy with Gwakhyangjeonggisangamibang and Sojangjeonggyeok could be an effective and safe treatment for the verucca plana.

  • We report the case of an 18-year-old woman with a 6-year history of widespread facial plane warts that had proved resistant to repeated treatments with laser therapy and imiquimod cream. The patient had recurrent lesions, which subsequently resolved with treatment. We diagnosed the case as heat and blood stasis and qi deficiency damp stagnation. Treatment with herb medication and herbal external wet dressing was initiated. During the 4-month treatment period, the warts resolved gradually. At 4 months follow up, there were no recurrent lesions and no other adverse effects.
