  • Experimental verification in the rig test stage for component development is a vital link between the aeromechanical design and structural integrity validation process. Based on this premise, Non-Intrusive Stress Measuring System was adopted on the axial compressor test rig to measure the static and dynamic tip deflection of all blades by using tip-timing sensors. Through analyzing vibration characteristics, we evaluated the vibratory stresses seen on the blades fatigue critical location; detected synchronous resonances which are the source of High Cycle Fatigue (HCF) in blades; presented non-synchronous vibration response by aerodynamic excitation and individual blade mis-tuning patterns.

  • In this paper, we propose a secure solution for user authentication by using fingerprint verification on the sensor-client-server model, even with the client that is not necessarily trusted by the sensor holder or the server. To protect possible attacks launched at the untrusted client, our solution makes the fingerprint sensor validate the result computed by the client for the feature extraction. However, the validation should be simple so that the resource-constrained fingerprint sensor can validate it in real-time. To solve this problem, we separate the feature extraction into binarization and minutiae extraction, and assign the time-consuming binarization to the client. After receiving the result of binarization from the client, the sensor conducts a simple validation to check the result, performs the minutiae extraction with the received binary image from the client, and then sends the extracted minutiae to the server. Based on the experimental results, the proposed solution for fingerprint verification can be performed on the sensor-client-server model securely and in real-time with the aid of an untrusted client.

  • Currently, our society has been changed from the industrial society to the information society. As the war progresses to Information Warfare, Network-Centric Warfare, Long-Range Precision Engagement and Robot Warfare, the military should advance to High-tech Scientific force. For this creation of the war potential, it is regarded as the warfighting experiment is a critical method. Surely it is rational that LVC(Live Virtual Constructive simulation) is desirable to make the warfighting experiment. But because it is limited by the cost, the time, the place and the resource, the constructive simulation(M&S : Modeling&Simulation) is a good tool to solve those problems. There are some studies about the evaluation process for developing the model, but it is unsatisfying in the process of the constructive simulations' operation. This study focuses on the way of constructive simulation operation, which is supplied with the evaluation process(VV&A : Verification Validation & Accreditation). We introduce the example of the rear area operation simulation for "appropriateness evaluation to the organization of logistic corps" by the AWAM(Army Weapon Analysis Model). This study presents the effective methods of the constructive simulations, which is based on the reliable evaluation process, so it will contribute to the warfighting experiments.

  • "The Framework Act on Low-Carbon Green Growth" specifies the requirements for the development and verification of emission factors for establishing reliable national greenhouse gas statistics. The scope of the regulations covers the development and validation of energy, industrial processes, solvents and other product use, agriculture, land use, land use change and emission and absorption coefficients of the forestry and waste sector as defined in the 1996 IPCC Guideline and GPG 2000, The minerals sector to be covered in this study belongs to industrial processes. As a representative method for quantifying and evaluating GHG emission factors, there are emission grade quality grading and DARS (Data Rating Rating System) in the 'Procedures for Preparing Emission Factor Documents (1997)' reported by US-EPA. However, the above two methods are not specific and comprehensive, and lack the details for accurate emission factor verification. Therefore, there is a need for a method for verifying and quantifying certified greenhouse gas emission factors that reflects characteristics of each industry sector in Korea and accord with IPCC G/L and GHG target management. In this study, we conducted a weighted study on quantitative and evaluation lists of emission factor using questionnaires to develop a more accurate methodology for quantifying national greenhouse gas emission factors in the mineral sector. Quantification and evaluation of emission factor are classified into essential verification and quality evaluation. The essential verifications are : administrative compatibility, method of determining emission factors, emission characteristics, sampling methods and analysis methods, representativeness of data. The quality evaluations consisted of the quality control of the data, the accuracy of the measurement and analysis, the level of uncertainty, not directly affect the emission factor, but consisted of factors that determine data quality.

  • The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has developed a performance assessment model implementing the A-KRS concept, which was constructed with the GoldSim. In the A-KRS concept, spent nuclear fuel produced from pressurized-water-reactor operations would be pyroprocessed to reduce waste volume and radioactivity. The wastes to be disposed of in a geologic repository are comprised of metal and ceramic waste forms. In this study, results of simulations conducted to establish credibility and build confidence for the A-KRS model are presented. Specifically, release rates and breakthrough times simulated using the A-KRS model were compared to corresponding results from the U.S. NRC SOAR model. In addition, the A-KRS model results were compared to published release rates from the SKB repository performance assessment. This comparison of the A-KRS model results to other independent performance assessments is expected to form part of a suite of model verification and validation activities to provide confidence that the A-KRS model has been implemented appropriately.

  • DO-330 Software Tool Qualification Considerations is a guideline for development of tools used to develop/verify software and hardware installed on aircraft. And among several processes, the verification process is very crucial as it occupies a large proportion for DO-330. Especially, in order to qualify tool with high safety level, test objectives must be performed with independence, accordingly, more time, cost, and manpower are required than other objectives. In addition, even if the test cases or test procedures are well defined, the higher the complexity of the test the higher probability of human error occurs. In this paper, we propose Script-based Test Automation Agent software structure for efficient DO-330 verification process of A661UAGEN tool developed by Hanwha Systems. Compared to the test performed manually by the test engineer, testing time of the Script-based Test Automation Agent is reduced by 87.5% and testing productivity is increased by 43.75%.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify (i) a consistent calibration verification for the assessment of method linearity and (ii) calibration agreement with calibration settings. We validated calibration verification through method linearity with different lot number of individual calibrators that span the working range for 9 tests except salicylate with control sample in test. We evaluated that it covered broad analyte range to assay from near zero to the top of the measuring range with 5 or 6 points every three times for 10 analytes in TDM test. Target values were plotted on X-axis with assigned or observed values on the Y-axis. Working range were as follows. Calibration verification of the measuring range (maximum to minimum values) has been validated asetaminophen 0.1 to $304.6_{\mu}g/mL$, salicylate 0 to $1005_{\mu}g/mL$, valproic acid 3.2 to $154.19_{\mu}g/mL$, digoxin 0.17 to 5.65 ng/mL, vancomycine 1.3 to $80.51_{\mu}g/mL$, carbarmazepine 0.1 to $22.3_{\mu}g/mL$, phenytonin 0.6 to $40.21_{\mu}g/mL$, theophyline 0.2 to $40.21_{\mu}g/mL$, primidone 0 to $24.07_{\mu}g/mL$, phenobarbital 0.6 to $60.0_{\mu}g/mL$. Drawing a straight line through five or six points of these data showed good linearity. We are sure that it is important to assess the calibration verification of a test method to ascertain the lowest and highest test results that are reliable.

  • The vibration and stress analysis program of comprehensive vibration assessment program (CVAP) is to verify theoretically the structural integrity of reactor vessel internals (RVI) and to provide the basis for selecting the locations monitored in measurement and inspection programs. This paper covers the verification of the vibration and stress analysis methodology of APR1400 RVI CVAP. The analysis methodology was developed to use 3-dimensional hydraulic and structural models with ANSYS and CFX. To validate the methodology, the hydraulic loads and structural reponses of OPR1000 were predicted and compared with the calculated and measured data in the OPR1000 RVI CVAP. Since the results predicted with this methodology were close to the measured values considerably, it was confirmed that the analysis methodology was developed properly.

  • The aim of this study is to evaluate the hazard of landslides at Penang, Malaysia, using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing. Landslide locations were identified in the study area from interpretation of aerial photographs and field surveys. The topographic and geologic data and satellite image were collected, processed and constructed into a spatial database using GIS and image processing. The used factors that influence landslide occurrence are topographic slope, topographic aspect topographic curv ature and distance from drainage from topographic database, geology and distance from lineament from the geologic database, land use from TM satellite image and vegetation index value from SPOT satellite image. Landslide hazardous area were analysed and mapped using the landslide-occurrence factors by probability - likelihood ratio - method. The results of the analysis were verified using the landslide location data. The validation results showed satisfactory agreement between the hazard map and the existing data on landslide location.
