This study investigates the effects of business environment on the e-business strategy and performance of venture firms. The development of the research model is based on the empirical studies on the strategy literature. The data from the survey was analyzed using Partial Least Squares(PLS). For Daedeok Valley Venture Firms, product innovation differentiation strategy is affected by environmental uncertainty. And, cost leadership strategy tend to be influence by environmental uncertainty. Finally, venture firm's performance is effected by cost leadership strategy and marketing differentiation strategy. However, for in Hsinchu Science Park Venture Firms, product innovation differentiation strategy is affected by environmental uncertainty and heterogeneity. And, marketing differentiation strategy is enhanced by environment uncertainty and industry growth. In addition, cost leadership strategy tend to be influence by environmental uncertainty and heterogeneity. Finally, venture firm's performance is effected by cost leadership strategy and product innovation differentiation strategy.

본 연구는 벤처기업정밀실태조사에서 수집된 국내 벤처기업 데이터를 통해 벤처환경수준과 벤처기업확인제도의 혜택과 내부역량, 경영성과 간 관계를 분석하였다. 고위험과 고성과를 특징으로 하는 벤처기업의 기업역량에 미치는 환경적인 요소들과 결합해 달성할 수 있는 성과 수준을 확인하였으며, 성과의 경우 재무성과와 기술성과로 확인하였다. 본 연구를 위해 벤처환경수준으로 대변되는 인프라 수준과 실제 벤처기업확인제도 혜택 정도를 독립변수로 설정하였으며, 매개변수의 경우 기업역량, 종속변수의 경우 재무성과와 기술성과로 구분하였다. 실증분석 결과 벤처환경수준은 기업역량에 영향을 미치지 않았으나, 벤처기업확인제도는 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 기업역량의 경우 기술성과에는 긍정적 영향을 미쳤으나 재무성과에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 내부역량이 벤처환경수준 및 벤처기업확인제도 혜택과 경영성과 간 관계를 매개한다는 연구 결과를 확인하였다. 본 연구는 실제 벤처기업의 데이터를 활용해 환경에서 역량, 성과로 이어지는 일련의 프로세스를 확인하고, 기업역량의 중요성을 확인했다는 시사점을 갖는다. 아울러 벤처환경수준과 벤처기업확인제도에 대한 환경적 요소가 내부 성과에 미치는 영향을 확인했기 때문에 추후 개편된 벤처기업확인제도에 해당 프로세스를 도입하는 경우 벤처기업의 성과를 높일 수 있는 요소들에 대한 보다 정밀한 연구가 이루어질 것으로 기대된다.

Venture industry is becoming a driving force of Korean economy in the digital age of the 21 st century. The success of venture business depends on innovative technology, capital investment, and optimal environment providing industrial flexibility. Although venture business is starting to settle down in Korea, many barriers and challenges still remain. The current study analyzes the present status of venture business including fashion business and issues concerning the venture fund raising and provides prospective views to promote and improve venture industry in Korea.

There are several stage in corporate's life cycle such as foundation, growth, maturity or bankruptcy. A bankruptcy is very important for corporate in the life cycle. Especially, venture business' life cycle is short compare to other type of corporate. A lot of venture businesses have emerged and bankrupted soon in the market. Venture businesses' survival or bankruptcy have been influenced by not only external environment like the rate of exchange, oil price, and foreign exchange crisis but also internal environment such as efficiency, process, human resources, finance and CEO. In this paper, we attempt to examine financial factors and efficiency that influence on the venture businesses' survival and bankruptcy. The more venture businesses have high efficiency score, the more they have high probability of survival.

현재 급변하는 환경 속에서 각 국가는 일자리 창출 및 기술 경쟁력 강화를 위한 노력을 지속하고 있다. 특히 벤처기업 및 창업기업에 대한 지원과 활성화 정책은 국가 경쟁력을 높이는 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 경쟁 심화로 비즈니스 수명이 짧아지고 고객들의 요구가 다양화되는 환경의 불확실성이 확대되는 가운데 기업은 적절한 대처를 해야 한다. 우선 기업은 스스로 내부 역량을 강화하는 노력을 하는 것이 중요하다. 그러나 벤처기업은 내부 자원 및 역량 등이 부족하여 외부 환경으로부터의 지원이 기업의 생존으로 연결될 만큼 중요하다고 볼 수 있다(Timmons, 1994). 기업의 경쟁력 강화를 위해 국가 차원에서 재정지원 및 인증제도를 운용하고 있다. 그러나 재정지원은 상황에 따라 기업의 자생력을 낮출 수 있으므로 연구개발 지원 및 창업교육과 같은 비 재정적 지원이 벤처기업 성장에 장기적으로 도움이 된다고 보았다(Aghion et al., 2012; 전미미·고강혁, 2021). 비 재정적 지원은 사업화, 시설, 공간, 보육, 인력, 인증제도 등으로 구분되는데 본 연구에서는 인증제도인 벤처기업 확인제도의 혜택을 중심으로 확인하였다. 이를 위해 2021년도 벤처기업정밀실태조사 데이터 및 벤처기업의 매출액 데이터를 활용하였으며, SPSS 26.0 패키지와 SPSS PROCESS MACRO를 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 벤처기업의 경영환경 수준은 벤처확인제도 혜택이나 벤처기업 역량 수준을 높이는 데는 긍정적인 영향을 주지만, 실질적인 경영성과로 이어지기는 어려운 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 벤처기업의 경영환경 수준과 경영성과 간 관계를 벤처기업 역량 수준이 매개하는 것으로 확인되었다. 결과적으로 단순히 벤처기업의 경영환경 수준이 긍정적이거나 벤처기업에 친화적일지라도 외부 환경으로부터의 지원을 잘 소화할 수 있는 내부 역량이 있는 기업이 경영성과를 높인다고 할 수 있다.

In this paper, we investigate on the determinants of new venture performance empirically and suggest a new venture performance model in the Korean Information and Telecommunications (IT) industry. A total of seven hypotheses is established and tested using a combination of factor analysis, cluster analysis, analysis of variance, and correlation analysis. Ninety-two sample ventures in the Korean IT industry were investigated and analyzed to test hypotheses. We found that new ventures performance depends on their environment, strategy, internal resources factors, and, most importantly, two-way and three-way interactions of these factors. These findings could be interpreted as supporting the general strategy theory that when environment and internal resources and fitted, performance might be maximized and, further, strategy is the means that make internal resources and environment fit. The venture performance model presented in this paper can explain how new ventures achieve their successes. The strategic implications to the venture firms are also discussed.

본 연구는 부산지역 경제 활성화 및 실업률의 해소를 위하여 벤처기업 육성시책이 적극적으로 추진될 필요가 있다는 문제의식에서 부산지역 벤처생태계의 실태, 부산지역 벤처기업 육성지원 시책에 대한 현황파악 및 정책 수요자의 태도분석을 통한 정책적 함의 도출을 연구목적으로 한다. 분석기간으로는 벤처기업 육성지원 정책이 참여정부 출범을 기점으로 크게 변화되었기 때문에 참여정부의 정책이 명확히 제시되었던 2004년에서부터 2006까지를 주된 연구대상으로 한다. 연구결과에 따르면, 부산지역 벤처생태계는 양적 측면과 질적 측면 모두에서 대단히 취약함이 확인되었고, 참여정부의 정책변화에 따라 벤처여건은 악화될 가능성이 높은 것으로 확인된다. 또한 부산지역의 벤처육성 지원시책은 IT분야에 지나치게 편중되어 있어 지원대상의 다양화가 시급한 것으로 나타났다.

The results of this study on problems and activation plans of venture business are as follows. First, to ensure substantiality of venture business 1) To prepare and support venture investment capital. 2) To make eggective use of founding capital of venture business. 3) To establish the overall supporting system for founding of venture business. 4) To maintain and ensure manpower for venture business. Second. to prepare investment base for venture business 1) To induce the enlargement of venture investment unions. 2) To ensure the sound trust of KOSDAQ. 3) To permantly setup angel capital investment market. 4) To ensure joint system for R&D and knowledge management, and so forth. Third, to promote environment for the founding of venture business 1) To enlarge and roar business incubator (BI) 2) To establish acts of venture complex. 3) To uplift creative tension feeling and entrepreneurship. 4) To maximum the support for adminstration approvals, and so forth. Fourth, to make global strategy for venture business 1) To furnish oversea venture chances for globaligation to venture business. 2) To operate information network. 3) To establish integrating system of oversea support offices. Fifth, to support capital and tax 1) To activate functions of investment organs. 2) To increase the number of venture investment company. 3) To permanently organige angel capitalists. 4) To reduce and exampt the corporation tax, and the like. Above mentioned results of this study have to be practiced, and in future, subdivided studies will be needed.

The creation of academic start-up firms is an important and practical issue in the management of technology in Japan. The present study designs a model for creating academic start-up firms that fits into the social context. It focuses on the case of FIRST Program, an initiative that consists of 30 projects in innovative arenas, analyses the presence of large-scale public funding, and investigates the role of venture capitalists as support personnel in each project. As a result, the presence and significance of 'long-term escort' by an 'entrepreneurial venture capitalist (EP-VCist)' were confirmed as common features across the cases observed. EP-VCist refers to a person who can maintain and fulfil dual roles at a university and a venture capital firm, and who can take the lead throughout the venturing process as a risk taker. 'Long-term escort' is a form of support that reduces risks in the venturing process by supporting university researchers in the pre-entrepreneurial stage and by exerting a robust bridging role between a university and an industry.
