A Study on Inhalation Force Improvements of Ventilation Hood For Removed a Pollution Source (유해물질 제거를 위한 국소배기장치 후드의 흡입력 증가에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates on the inhalation force improvements of hood consisted one of the local ventilation systems attached the new device named as gas-guidance-device for removed a pollution source. The numerical method applying finite element method is calculated the velocity and pressure distributions of a moving fluid at the beginning and the inside of a hood with and without the gas-guidance-device in hood. And, the experimental study is measured the wind velocity using the anemometer at the same condition of numerical study. Also, the optimum shape of gas-guidance-device which is suitable for hood shape derived from the numerical and experimental results. The results of this study is supplied the important data to an industrial field for control of a pollution source in the engineering aspect. Moreover, the introduced technique of hood attached the gas-guidance-device is very useful to remove the harmful materials such as dust and waste happened in the manufacturing factory.

  • Nowadays since the automobile is regarded as the third living space, comfortable conditions are required in the passenger compartment. The customer's concern on air-conditioning/heating, ventilation and demisting/defrosting performances has been much increased. Both ventilation and demisting /defrosting performances are directly influenced by register location, shape of regist guide vane, ventilation flow rate, air distribution , and air circulation pattern. Diffuse plume of air from the register is desirable not only to maintain comfort when the comfort when the comfortable condition has been satisfied but to improve demisting /defrosting performance. In this study, experimental and numerical investigation about the flow field of six different register vane types were carried out , respectively. The numerical analysis, based upon the $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model , was applied to the air flow field. The results show that the shape of register guide vane should be considered as an important design paramter.

Numerical Optimization for Performance Improvement of a Tunnel Ventilation Jet fan (터널 환기용 제트홴의 성능 향상을 위한 수치최적화)

  • This paper presents an optimization procedure for performance improvement of a tunnel ventilation jet fan. Optimization techniques based on response surface approximation (RSA) are employed to improve the aerodynamic performance of a tunnel ventilation jet fan. For numerical analysis, three-dimensional Renolds- averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with shear stress transport turbulence model are discretized by using finite volume approximations and solved on hexahedral grids to evaluate the total efficiency at the operating condition as the objective function. Four geometric variables defining the meridional length and the thickness profile at the hub and shroud in the jet fan rotor are selected as design variables for the numerical optimization. The results of the numerical optimization show that the total efficiency of the optimized model is significantly improved in comparison with the base model.

  • According to the requirement of Res.MSC.285(86) for natural gas-fueled engine installations in ships, pump and compressor rooms should be fitted with effective mechanical ventilation system of the under pressure type, providing a ventilation capacity of at least 30 air changes per hour. It generally considered that gas leakage is more likely from a Fueled Gas Supply System(FGS) room as compared to other places, where installed in many kind of machinery or equipments like gas supply high-pressure pipes, valves, flanges and etc. Furthermore, leaked gas may be dispersed in a short time in an enclosed space, especially a FGS room, due to high pressure. However, the present requirement in Res.MSC.285(86) just considers the ventilating capacity of air changes per hour but the capacity of leaked gas. Hence, the current requirements may not meet effectively when enforcing the new propulsion systems as marine fuel. This study is conducted for the purpose of safety evaluation about the dispersion and ventilation efficiency with estimated leakage scenario. Numerical analysis predictions as the result of this paper are explained to know the features of flow pattern and the diffusion of natural gas concentration.

  • Lately majority of churches have preferred to enlarge their worship area to both horizontal and vertical axis. According to expand their area which brings more devotees to the limited service area. Transform from a small church into a large church is no longer unprecedented issue in South Korea. As the size of church getting bigger, many unexpected issues become matters. One of the significant problem is that the number of people have experienced either fall a sleep or feel a doziness during their service period. Due to the limited condition for the specific building type such as religion facility(church), IAQ improvements is seriously concerned. Therefore, we are going to examine by using simulation tool, CF, a difference of ventilation efficiency about the location and number of windows, and find the best way of the ventilation efficiency in a multi-stories type church by changing the exhaust pipes location and size. Furthermore, in this thesis, by changing a ceiling height from the existing building to confirm that $CO_2$ have been satisfied for both the ventilation efficiency and IAQ.

  • Improving quality of life and wellbeing of the residential environment and increased interests and importance is growing confidentiality, insulation, high-rise due to a lack of ventilation and indoor air pollution. Several human diseases caused tremendously due to the indoor air which consists of formaldehyde, radon, pollutants such as volatile substances that is called the phenomenon of a new house syndrome. It has become a world-wide issue that the United States, Japan and several other countries of Europe are showing more interests. Furthermore, a lot of damages caused by the syndrome occurs in the new house should be resolved by somehow is urgent. Thus, this study would like to propose the measures based on the whether condition and the way of heating in korea against a new house syndrome via analysis of indoor contaminant Reduction comparison according to vary ventilation and humidity when operating bake-out on a new apartment.

  • In this study, to ensure the safety of the packaged hydrogen refueling system, the improvement plan was derived by using 3-dimensional CFD program (FLACS). We also confirmed the effectiveness of risk reduction and the suitability of safety standard. By ventilation performance evaluation according to the position of the vent, it demonstrated that the vent should be installed at the ceiling to safely ventilate without stagnation of the leaked gas. In case of ventilation system according to KGS standard, risk situation could be resolved after about 5 minutes in the worst leaked condition. The result showed that jet fire and explosion inside the packaged system could affect the surrounding facilities. This proves that the standard for installing flame detectors, emergency shut down system and protection wall is appropriate.

A Study of Indoor Thermal and Air Quality in Middle and High School Classrooms during Winter (겨울철 학교교실의 실내열.공기환경 실태와 학생들의 주관적 반응)

  • This is a basic study to improve air quality of school classrooms in winter time. The purposes are to check indoor thermal and air environment in school classrooms during winter and to analyze influencing factors on indoor environment. The measurements of students' physical elements with questionnaire surveys were carried out in a total of 6 classrooms. As a result, this research shows that the temperature of one classroom was below indoor thermal standard level, three classrooms had lack of heat, and two classrooms are heated much, which induce relatively low humidity. All of 6 classrooms had lack of ventilation, being high level of $CO_2$ concentration and 2 classrooms are in condition of high PM10 concentration. The majority of students(76%) answered that the cause of their 'heated space syndrome' is because of the lack of ventilation. Students' opening windows for ventilations is hardly carried out at normal times, except that indoor temperature is over standard. That is, we can suggest one of solutions, which is to enable students to operate heating and ventilating system by themselves according to students' physical condition.

A Study on the Factors Affecting the Performance of Paper Heat Exchanger for Exhaust Heat Recovery (배기열 회수용 종이 열교환기의 성능에 영향을 미치는 인자에 관한 연구)

  • In order to control indoor air quality and save energy, it is needed to install a suitable ventilation system equipped with heat exchanger for heat recovery The purpose of this research is to find the factors affecting the performance of paper heat exchanger for exhaust heat recovery, which can be applied directly to the conventional ventilation unit, air-purifier, and air-conditioning system. In this study, thermal performance and pressure loss of the paper heat exchanger are measured and compared at various operating conditions. The effectiveness of sensible, latent and total heat at the face velocity of 0.75 m/s are $77\%,\;47\%\;and\;57\%$ in the cooling condition and $77\%,\;59\%,\;and\;\%$ in the heating condition, respectively. The effectiveness for sensible heat is only affected by velocity. On the other hand, the effectiveness for latent heat is affected. by temperature and relative humidity.

A Subjective Symptom Level and Satisfaction Factor by Indoor Air Quality According to Ventilation System in Dental Clinic (치과병·의원 환기방법에 따른 실내공기질 자각증상 수준 및 근무환경 만족요인)

  • This study was designed to identify a subjective symptom level by Indoor air according to ventilation system in Dental Clinic. The number of respondents was 582 who work in dental clinic and period of investigation was October 2010 through January 2011. A structured questionnaire was employed to evaluate the level of participants' sociodemographics, job-related factors, work place condition, a subjective symptom. Most of respondents were answered that time for symptom to begin was at around 2 P.M. and time for symptom to feel serve pain was at around 3 P.M. and ventilation frequency per a day was often in case of individual cooling and heating system. More often natural ventilation and in case of individual cooling and heating system, the level of subject symptom was low and multiple regression analysis has found that indoor air quality related elements were main factors that influence to the feeling of satisfaction in work place. The results of this study suggest that more often natural ventilation was very important to reduce the level of subjective symptom. Thus, a management program for indoor air quality is strongly recommended by natural ventilation, maintenance man for promotion of quality of life in dental hygienist and to improve dental service and competitiveness.
