I experienced one case of Dermatitis Rhus from the 12th to the 18th in July 2001 in Dongshin University Gwangju Oriental Medical Hospital Dennatology. Administration of herbal medicine "Cheongyangsamul-Tang", external use of "Sambakyihwang-Guo" and "Kumeunhwa-Tang", acupunture, and venesection therapy, as a curative means of clearing away Heat and Toxic Materiale, expelling Pathogenic Wind, and stoping pruritus achieved desirable effect.

We made a clinical analysis of 135 pediatric patients who visited Emergency Room of Dongguk University Oriental Hospital, during 1 year from March 2002 to February 2003. The results were as follows ; 1. Whether they received medical examination and treatment or not : new patients were 95(70.4%) and pediatric patients who received medical examination and treatment were 40(29.6%). 2. Seasonal distribution: Spring(March, April, May) was 45(33.3%), Summer(June, July, August) was 35(25.9%), Autumn(September, October, November) was 32(23.7%) and Winter(December, January, February) was 23(17.0%). 3. The time interval between onset and arrival : within 6 hours were 68(50.4%), 6-12 hours were 14(10.4%), 12-24 hours were 26(9.3%), 24-48 hours were 17(12.6%), 48-72 hours were 6(4.4), over 72 hours were 4(3.0%). 4. Whether they went through other hospitals or not : pediatric patients who didn't go through other hospitals were 105(77.8%), pediatric patients who went through other hospitals were 30(22.2%). 5. Systemic distribution of diseases: Infectious diseases were 1(0.7%), Physique diseases were 4(3.0%), Digestive diseases were 73(54.1), Nervous also Mental diseases were 32(23.7%), Cardiovascular diseases were 2(1.5%), Skin disorders were 1(0.7%), Respiratory diseases were 22(16.3%). 6. Medical care : Acupuncture and moxibustion were 1(0.7%), moxibustion and medication were 1(0.7%), acupuncture, moxibustion and medication were 1(0.7%), venesection was 24(17.8% ), venesection and medication were 17(12.6%), consultation was 16(11.9%), medication was 44(32.6%), acupuncture was 3(2.2%), acupuncture and medication were 14(10.4%) and transferred out patients were 14(10.4%). 7. Revisit: revisit patients were 30(22.2%).

Objectives : To prove the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment targeting the insomnia-complaining patients from the group of hospital inpatients. Methods : Among Wonkwang University Iksan Oriental Medical Hospital impatients, needling Sinmaek($BL_{62}$) and Johae($KI_6$) and Venesection on Eunbaek(SP1) on the 15 insomnia-complaining patients. Then, confirmed the degree of insomnia symptom improvements through Saint's Mary Hospital(SMH) questionnaire, insomnia severity index(ISI), and Korean sleep scale(KSS). Results : 1. Result indicated after the acupuncture treatment, the total hours of sleeping increased in average per hour. 2. When evaluating the degree of improvement using Insomnia Severity Index(ISI) after the treatment, average score was lowered and the statistical data showed the result was significant. 3. When evaluating the degree of improvement using Korean Sleep Scale(KSS), the average score was increased and the statistical data showed the result was significant. Conclusions : Among the insomnia patients from the group of Oriental Medical Hospital inpatients, the total hours of sleeping increased, showed the score improvement by using the tool for evaluating sleeping, and indicated statistically significant treatment effectiveness.

Objective : This study was performed to prove the effect of the oriental medical treatments on urticaria and angioedema caused from serum sickness reaction by bee venom. Method : We treated one case of urticaria and angioedema with oriental medical treatments such as 8 constitution acupuncture, herbal medicine, venesection therapy and facial pack therapy. We took pictures through the treatment to evaluate the improvement. Six items, itching, burning sensation, pain, wheal, redness, edema were used to diagnose urticaria and angioedema. Result & Conclusion : After treatments the urticaria and angioedema were improved. The symptom of itching, heating, pain, wheal, redness of whole body and facial edema disappeared.

This study was carried out to investigate the analgesic and antipyretic effects of acupuncture in goat suffered from pain and fever induced experimentally : electroacupuncture and laser acupuncture for the relief of pain and traditional needing for the of fever. Pain was induced by intraperitoneal injection of 0.7% acetic acid solution and it's extent was estimated with the number of writhing syndrom as indicator of pain. When lipopolysaccharide was given into the vein in goat, fever with biphasic type was produced. In the goats with pain the superior analgesic effects of electroacupuncture to aminopyrine and sulpyrine were found, but the effects of laser acupuncture were not satisfactory. The high body temperature of goats was gradually decreased with the lapse of time following traditional needling(venesection by needle) and showed a tendency to return to normal body temperature. Serum GOT, GPT:, BUN, creatinine values and acetylcholinesterase activity following electroacupuncture were not altered. It is considered that electroacupuncture combined with medicament can sucure exellent analgesic and antipyretic effects in animal practice.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to report the effects of treatments to traumatic subcutaneous hematoma on the shin using herbal medication and external application without venesection, which had no change in spite of previous 3 weeks medical conservative treatment so it had a risk of sepsis.Methods The patient diagnosed as Soyangin was prescribed with Yangkyuksanhwa-tang. The subcutaneous hematoma lesion was treated by external application of Daehwangchija-san(大黃梔子散). We evaluated the size of hematoma, pain and gait disturbance.Results and Conclusions Subcutaneous hematoma and relevant symptoms disappeared within 11 days of admission. Any kind of sequela did not show up and skin color was recovered after 4 month later follow-up.

Objectives There are constant increase numbers of cases mumps in children. The purpose of this study is to analyze traditional Chinese medicine treatments of epidemic mumps in children through traditional Chinese medical journal research. Methods 20 studies were selected based on title keyword "Epidemic mumps" "Child" published in CAJ(China Academic Journal). Study researched about clinical effect, herbs, attachment, moxa, venesection treatments in epidemic mumps in children Results & Conclusions There are so many treatments about epidemic mumps in children through analyzing studies in CAJ. Single and combination traditional Chinese medicine treatment is more effective in epidemic mumps in children. Therefore, we need to study more about epidemic mumps in children and should make more clinical case about it.

Ibn Rushd stated that Massage (Dalak) is a type of exercise used for the removal of toxins or waste metabolites from the body. According to the disease, Massage (dalak) should be done in different parts of body and with different types of oils (roganiyat) and single drugs (mufrid advia).

Objectives The purpose of this case study is to report the effect of Sasang constitutional therapy about chill and fever pattern of malaria by acute urticaria. Methods This Soyangin patient is treated by herbal prescriptions, venesection, and acupuncture therapy according to the change of symptoms. When fever is severe, adequate medical supportive treatments such as normal saline intravenous injection, sedative or anti-histamine are provided for the patient. Results & Conclusions The patient's symptoms of acute urticaria and general conditions were improved after using Yangdokbaekho-tang and Hwagam. However, chill and fever pattern of malaria was continued so that Hyungbangpaedok-san and Dokhwaljihwang-tang for Soyangin's lasting malaria symptom were medicated to the patient. Accordingly, chill and fever pattern lasting about one month was successfully eliminated after herbal treatment.
