Local Dehazing Method using a Haziness Degree Evaluator (흐릿함 농도 평가기를 이용한 국부적 안개 제거 방법)

  • Haze is a local weather phenomenon in which very small droplets float in the atmosphere, and the amount and characteristics of haze may vary depending on the region. In particular, these haze reduce visibility, which can cause air traffic interference and vehicle traffic accidents, and degrade the quality of security CCTVs and so on. Therefore, in the past 10 years, research on haze removal has been actively conducted to reduce damage caused by haze. In this study, local haze removal is performed by weight generation using a haziness degree evaluator to adaptively respond to haze-free, homogeneous haze, and non-homogeneous haze cases. And the proposed method improves the limitations of the existing static haze removal method, which assumes that there is haze in the input image and removes the haze. We also demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method through quantitative and qualitative performance evaluations with benchmark algorithms.

Power Shift and Media Empowerment (언론의 정치권력화 - 재벌 정책 보도의 정권별 비교 연구)

  • The power of media has always been problematic in the countries of full press freedom. Originally, the media used to be an effective vehicle for communication within human beings. However, it exerts an overwhelming power toward human society. Through applying the well-known four dog models in terms of media function, this study attempts to examine how the press media in South Korea transformed themselves into another powerful independent organization or institution after regime shift in 1987. The whole editorials of four sampled newspapers were analyzed through frame analysis model. The ChosunIlbo, known as a conservative and pro-government paper, shows to take the role of supporting chaebol policies under Roh TaeWoo Administration. However, it criticizing sharply against the chaebol policies of Roh MooHyun Administration. The JoongangIlbo, known as a pro-chaebol paper, appears anti-government position through the entire four administrations in terms of chaebol policies. Particularly, it reveals hostile editorial coverage during the Roh MooHyun Administration. However, KyunghyangShinmun, currently known as a liberal paper, viewed somewhat complicated positions (see text in more detail) because of its ownership turbulence during the past twenty years. On the other hand, Hangyoreh, regarded as a progressive paper, keeps in supportive attitude consistently against the four sampled administrations as far as regulating each government policies for chaebols.

  • In recent years, with the rapid development of large and medium-sized urban rail transit in China, the total operating mileage of high-speed railway and the total number of EMUs(Electric Multiple Units) are rising. The system complexity of high-speed EMU is constantly increasing, which puts forward higher requirements for the safety of equipment and the efficiency of maintenance.At present, the maintenance mode of high-speed EMU in China still adopts the post maintenance method based on planned maintenance and fault maintenance, which leads to insufficient or excessive maintenance, reduces the efficiency of equipment fault handling, and increases the maintenance cost. Based on the intelligent operation and maintenance technology of PHM(prognostics and health management). This thesis builds an integrated PHM platform of "vehicle system-communication system-ground system" by integrating multi-source heterogeneous data of different scenarios of high-speed EMU, and combines the equipment fault mechanism with artificial intelligence algorithms to build a fault prediction model for traction motors of high-speed EMU.Reliable fault prediction and accurate maintenance shall be carried out in advance to ensure safe and efficient operation of high-speed EMU.

  • Driver's view has blind spot of automobile surroundings due to physical components of automobile architecture. Obstacles on blind spot are the cause of car destruction and car accidents. Cars which produced in recent have obstacle detection sensors and rear view cameras which provide information of obstacles on the blind sopt, and have also AVM(Around View Monitoring) which provides automobile surroundings for driver's safe driving. During a low-speed travel while parking or moving in a narrow street, a driver get help for safe driving by taking information of automobile surroundings using the above-mentioned devices. In this paper, we present a design and implementation of a 4-sided monitoring (4SM) system, which helps a driver see an integrated view of a vehicle's perimeter at a glance, using a car PC connected to four cameras installed on the front, rear, left, and right sides.

  • This paper describe the Lateral Navigation algorithm design and verification that implementation on Mission Computer's OFP for Korean Utility Helicopter(KUH) instead of Auto Flight Control System(AFCS) Vehicle Management System. The LNAV function transmits Roll command into the AFCS System. The Roll command value will be calculated by control algorithms in MC. The Operational Flight Program(OFP) shall use for its calculations different measurements of the aircraft's attitude and place. Using these inputs, the OFP will translate a navigational demand(for example-to perform the selected flight plan) into Roll commands to the autopilot. By conducting integration test using SIL and ground test, flight test, it is confirmed that the introduced algorithm meets the requirements of the Mission Equipment Package(MEP) system. LNAV function is verified through the System Integration Laboratory(SIL) test, ground and flight test.

  • MDO framework, which provides multidisciplinary system design and optimization environment, requires integration of the analyses codes developed at various computer languages and operating systems, integration of CAD and DBMS, and development of complex GUI. Emphases must be given to the software modification and upgrades in conjunction with the analysis code addition and MDO method implementation. In this study, techniques about system integration and analysis code interface have been studied extensively, and the database design and communication methods which can handle the MDO methods like MDF and CO have been studied. Using the dedicated MDO framework developed for the air vehicle design, the multidisciplinary fighter aircraft wing design has been performed to demonstrate the efficiency and usefulness of the software. Optimum wing configuration is derived using the gradient-based optimization methods within thirty design iterations.

An Efficient Multi-User Resource Allocation Scheme for Future IEEE 802.11 LRLP Communications (미래 IEEE 802.11 LRLP 통신을 위한 효율적인 다중 사용자 자원할당 기법)

  • As a possible standardization of wireless local area network (WLAN), IEEE 802.11 LRLP is under discussion in order to support long range and low power (LRLP) communication for internet of things (IoT) including drones and many other IoT devices. In this paper, an efficient adaptive resource unit allocation scheme for uplink multiuser transmission in IEEE 802.11 LRLP networks is proposed. In the proposed scheme, which adopts OFDMA random access based transmission scheme of IEEE 802.11ax, in order to enhance the efficiency of the slotted OFDMA random access, access point (AP) traces the history of the sizes of successfully transmitted uplink data, and adjusts the sizes of resource units for the next uplink multiuser transmission adaptively. Our simulation results corroborate that the proposed scheme significantly improves the system throughput.

  • Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (S-DMB) is the digital convergence service of broadcasting and communication for mobility and portability. Broadcasting service of S-DMB can be taken by the mobile phone or vehicle terminals anytime and anywhere. S-DMB system is currently providing 11 video channels and 26 audio channels. As the demand of multimedia service is recently increasing, S-DMB system needs high quality and new contents service. Therefore we need to make efficient S-DMB with more channel ability and high transmission quality. In this paper, we propose new S-DMB system that can be applied to powerful channel coding scheme and hierarchical 8-PSK(8-Phase Shift Keying) modulation with Backwards Compatibility modes that simultaneously can support both current and new system. And we analyze the performance of current S-DMB system and verify a possibility of advanced S-DMB through computer simulation.

A Study on the Economic Life for the Three Types of Military Wheeled Vehicles (군용 기동장비 3종(${\frac{1}{4}}$톤, $1{\frac{1}{4}}$톤, $2{\frac{1}{2}}$톤) 차량의 경제수명 산출에 관한 연구)

  • The economic life for three types of military wheeled vehicles with load capacities of 1/4, $1{\cdot}1/4$, and $2{\cdot}1/2$ tones has been evaluated on the basis of the equivalent acquisition and operating costs. The economic life of wheeled vehicles were calculated from 12 to 18 years by using the annual equivalent cost method. The equivalent cost was decided at the lowest point of the total amount of equivalent acquisition cost and operating cost. The operating cost were collected from the field data. The evaluated economic life can be very useful for deciding the total life cycle of these three types of military vehicles. The annual equivalent cost method may be also applied to other military equipments such as communication electronics, weapon systems, and other type of vehicles.

  • After patrol corvett Cheonan was hit and sank on duty, the Republic of Korea Navy has tried to install hybrid propulsion system on naval ship to reduce vibration and noise problems during navigation. The hybrid propulsion system has advantage that propulsion motor can be propelled in low speed operation of the vessel. This can be a better quietness than a mechanical propulsion system which consists of a conventional internal combustion engines. And more economical operation is possible by using a propulsion motor in a low speed operation where a fuel efficiency of the internal combustion engine is poor. In this paper, we set up virtual ship on the basis of a combat support ship in the Republic of Korea Navy, economically compared and analyzed fuel consumption between conventional and hybrid propulsion system. As a result, it was confirmed that the fuel efficiency of hybrid propulsion system which use electric motor had been relatively improved.
