  • The utilization of electric vehicles has been suggested to support the frequency regulation of power system. Assuming that an intermediate aggregator exists, this study suggests a decentralized vehicle-to-grid operation scheme in which each vehicle-to-grid aggregator can behave independently of the power system operator. To implement this type of decentralized operation, this study adopts a price-based operation that has been proposed by many researches as an alternative operation scheme for the power system. In this environment, each vehicle-to-grid aggregator can determine its participation in vehicle-to-grid service in consideration of its residual energy of aggregated system and real-time market price. Consequently, the main purpose of this study is to verify whether or not the vehicle-to-grid power can effectively support the current frequency regulation function within the price-based operation scheme. Specifically, a frequency regulation method is proposed based on the real-time price signal, and a feedback controller for battery management is designed for decentralized vehicle-to-grid operation.

  • In order to investigate effects of grid resolution on large-eddy simulation of flow over a heavy vehicle, large-eddy simulations over the vehicle with coarse grid and fine grid are conducted. In addition, comparison of drag coefficients with the experimental data obtained by a wind tunnel experiment is conducted. Both of the drag coefficients of coarse grid and fine grid large-eddy simulation show good agreement with the experimental data. Flow fields obtained by the coarse and the fine grid large-eddy simulation are compared in the vehicle frontal-face region, the vehicle rear wheel region, and the vehicle base region. Coarse grid large-eddy simulation shows good agreement with the fine grid large-eddy simulation in the vehicle front face region and the vehicle rear wheel region, since the flow over the present vehicle is dominated by flow separation which is geometrically pre-determined, not by the skin friction which is known to be sensitive to grid resolution.

  • The increase in oil prices and the rising environmental concerns are boost the electric vehicle supply. Vehicle manufactures understand this trend quite well and plan to increase the production of electric vehicle(EV) such as Nissan LEAF and GM VOLT etc.. The growth of intermittent renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power requires utilities to find additional grid coupled energy storage and regulation capacity. EVs have a battery pack and a charger. The charger can be able to deliver power back to the grid from the vehicle's battery as well as charge the battery. The concept of deploying EVs to stabilize the electric power grid is generally referred to as Vehicle-to-Grid(V2G). We present the grid service using V2G.

  • Electric vehicles (EV) are emerging as the future transportation vehicle reflecting their potential safe environmental advantages. Vehicle to Grid (V2G) system describes the hybrid system in which the EV can communicate with the utility grid and the energy flows with insignificant effect between the utility grid and the EV. The paper presents an optimal power control and energy management strategy for Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) charging stations using Wind-PV-FC-Battery renewable energy sources. The energy management optimization is structured and solved using Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) to determine and distribute at each time step the charging power among all accessible vehicles. The Model-Based Predictive (MPC) control strategy is used to plan PEV charging energy to increase the utilization of the wind, the FC and solar energy, decrease power taken from the power grid, and fulfil the charging power requirement of all vehicles. Desired features for EV battery chargers such as the near unity power factor with negligible harmonics for the ac source, well-regulated charging current for the battery, maximum output power, high efficiency, and high reliability are fully confirmed by the proposed solution.

  • With help of Vehicle-to-Grid(V2G) technology battery in electric vehicle can be used as distributed energy resource and energy storage in a smart grid environment. Several problems of security vulnerability and privacy preservation can be occurred because V2G network supports 2 way communication among all components. This paper explains and makes analysis of architecture, privacy sensitive data, security vulnerability and security requirement of V2G system. Furthermore efficient architecture and operating scheme for V2G system are proposed. This scheme uses symmetric cryptosystem and hash algorithm to support privacy preservation and mutual authentication.

  • YOLOv4 can be used for detecting parking vehicles in order to check a vehicle in out-door parking space. YOLOv4 has 9 anchor boxes in each of 13x13 grid cells for detecting a bounding box of object. Because anchor boxes are allocated based on each cell, there can be existed small observational error for detecting real objects due to the distance between neighboring cells. In this paper, we proposed YOLOv4 grid cell shift algorithm for improving the out-door parking vehicle detection accuracy. In order to get more chance for trying to object detection by reducing the errors between anchor boxes and real objects, grid cells over image can be shifted to vertical, horizontal or diagonal directions after YOLOv4 basic detection process. The experimental results show that a combined algorithm of a custom trained YOLOv4 and a cell shift algorithm has 96.6% detection accuracy compare to 94.6% of a custom trained YOLOv4 only for out door parking vehicle images.

  • Because sensitive and private information should be exchanged between electric vehicles and a V2G service provider, reliable communication channel is essential to operate Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) system which considers battery of electric vehicles as a factor of smart grid. The block chain is a platform for cryptocurrency transaction and fully distributed database system running by only equivalent node in the network without help of any central management or 3rd party. In this paper, the structure and operation method of the blockchain are investigated, and the application of the blockchain for the V2G system was also explained and analyzed.
