Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) facilities envision future Intelligent Transporting Systems (ITSs) by providing inter-vehicle communication for metrics such as road surveillance, traffic information, and road condition. In recent years, vehicle manufacturers, researchers and academicians have devoted significant attention to vehicular communication technology because of its highly dynamic connectivity and self-organized, decentralized networking characteristics. However, due to VANET's high mobility, dynamic network topology and low communication coverage, dissemination of large data packets (e.g. multimedia content) is challenging. Clustering enhances network performance by maintaining communication link stability, sharing network resources and efficiently using bandwidth among nodes. This paper proposes a mobility-based, multi-hop clustering algorithm, (MBCA) for multimedia content broadcasting over an IEEE 802.11p-LTE-enabled hybrid VANET architecture. The OMNeT++ network simulator and a SUMO traffic generator are used to simulate a network scenario. The simulation results indicate that the proposed clustering algorithm over a hybrid VANET architecture improves the overall network stability and performance, resulting in an overall 20% increased cluster head duration, 20% increased cluster member duration, lower cluster overhead, 15% improved data packet delivery ratio and lower network delay from the referenced schemes [46], [47] and [50] during multimedia content dissemination over VANET.
Ubiquitous-Transportation sensor network is able to realize a vehicle ad-hoc network. Since there are some problems in an existing ITS system, the new technology and traffic information strategies are requirements in this advanced system, u-TSN. The purposes of this paper is to introduce the components on u-TSN system, establish new traffic strategies for this system, and then evaluate these strategies by making a comparative study of ITS and using micro traffic simulator, AIMSUN. The strategy evaluated by AIMSUN is position-based multicast strategy which provides traffic information to vehicles using V2I (vehicle to Infrastructure) communication. This paper focuses on the providing real-time route guidance information when congestion is occurred by the incidents. This study estimates total travel time on each route by API modules. Result from simulation experiments suggests that position-based multicast strategy can achieve more optimal network performance and increased driver satisfaction since the total accumulated travel times of both the major road and the total system on position-based multicast strategy are less than those on VMS.

Vehicular Ad hoc Networks are considered as special kind of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. VANETs are a new emerging recently developed, advanced technology that allows a wide set of applications related to providing more safety on roads, more convenience for passengers, self-driven vehicles, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN) are networks that allow communication in the event of connection problems, such as delays, intermittent connections, high error rates, and so on. Moreover, these are used in areas that may not have end-to-end connectivity. The expansion from DTN to VANET resulted in Vehicle Delay Tolerant Networks (VDTN). In this approach, a vehicle stores and carries a message in its buffer, and when the opportunity arises, it forwards the message to another node. Carry-store-forward mechanisms, packets in VDTNs can be delivered to the destination without clear connection between the transmitter and the receiver. The primary goals of routing protocols in VDTNs is to maximize the probability of delivery ratio to the destination node, while minimizing the total end-to-end delay. DTNs are used in a variety of operating environments, including those that are subject to failures and interruptions, and those with high delay, such as vehicle ad hoc networks (VANETs). This paper discusses DTN routing protocols belonging to unicast delay tolerant position based. The comparison was implemented using the NS2 simulator. Simulation of the three DTN routing protocols GeOpps, GeoSpray, and MaxProp is recorded, and the results are presented.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the secondary tasks such as sending text message (STM) and searching navigation (SN) on skin conductance level (SCL) and driving performance of relatively aged and high-experienced drivers. The subjects included 26 taxi drivers; 12 males aged $56.3{\pm}4.4$ with $28.4{\pm}6.4$ years of driving experiences and 14 females aged $55.5{\pm}3.5$ with $19.4{\pm}5.0$ years of driving experiences. All subjects were instructed to keep a constant following distance (30m) from the car ahead and a given vehicle speed (80km/h or 100km/h) in a driving simulator. The relative change of SCL, vehicle velocity deviations, and average following distances were measured during driving only and driving with secondary tasks. The relative change of SCL, average following distance, and vehicle velocity deviation were more increased during the driving with secondary tasks than driving only. The relative change of SCL, vehicle velocity deviation, and average following distance were more affected by driving with 100km/hr than 80km/hr of a given vehicle speed. Secondary tasks increased a work load of drivers in term of SCL change, and decreased driving performance in terms of the vehicle velocity deviation and average following distance.
A propulsion system apparatus is needed for a railroad vehicle to test and estimate propulsion performance. The electrical inertia simulator to facilitate the development and testing of propulsion systems, is presented in this paper. It is based on a vector-controlled induction motor drive supplied from the AC mains through a double PWM converter that provides desirable features such as bi-directional power flow, nearly unity power factor and low harmonic factor at the AC mains. A theoretical analysis is first presented, followed by a detailed simulation study to assess the overall system performance under dynamic conditions.
Vibrating test of vehicle component can be possible in lab-based simulators instead of field testing owing to the development of technology in control algorithm as well as computational process. Currently, Multi-Axial Simulation Table(MAST) is recommended as a vibrating equipment, which excites a target component for 3-directional translation and rotation motion simultaneously and hence, vibrational condition can be fully approximated to that of real road test. But, the vibration-free performance of target component is not guaranteed with MAST system, which is only simulator subjective to the operator. Rather, the reliability of multi-axial vibration test is dependent on the quality of input profile which should cover the required severity of vibrating condition on target component. In this paper, multi-axial vibration testing methodology of vehicle component is presented here, from data acquisition of vehicle accelerations to the obtaining the input profile of MAST using severe data at proving ground. To compare the severity of vibration condition, between real road test and proving ground one, energy principle of equivalent damage is proposed to calculate energy matrices of acceleration data and then, it is determined the optimal combination of special events on proving ground which is equivalent to real road test at the aspects of vibration fatigue using sequential searching optimal algorithm. To explain the vibration methodology clearly, seat and door component of vehicle are selected as a example.
