Amid increasingly saturated ground space, development of underground space has been booming throughout the world and excavation has been underway near the structure above or under the ground level. But the ground subsidence caused by improper or poor construction technologies, underground water leakage, sudden changes of stratum and the problem with earth retaining system component has been emerged as hot social issue. To deal with such problems nationwide, establishment of preventive and proactive disaster management and rapid restoration system has been pushed now. In this study, collection of the data on technology development trend to secure the underground safety was made, taking into account of internal change elements (changing groundwater level, damage to underground utilities, etc) and external change elements (vehicle load, earthquake and ground excavation, etc) during excavation. Amid the growing need of ground behavior analysis, ground subsidence evaluation technology, safe excavation to prevent ground subsidence and reinforcement technology, improvement of rapid restoration technology in preparation for ground subsidence and development of independent capability, this study is intended to introduce the technology development in a bid to prevent the ground subsidence during excavation. It's categorized into prediction/evaluation technology, complex detect technology, waterproof reinforcement technology, rapid restoration technology and excavation technology which, in part, has been in process now.
In order to investigate the protective effect of Samduhaejungtang-gamibang on the liver injury of rats induced by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine, the serum transaminase(GOT& GPT) alkaline phosphatase(ALP), lactic dehydrogenase(LDH) for enzyme activities and triglyceride, total bilirubin amounts for serum component were measured. All animals were divided into 4 groups, those were normal group(untreated), control group(treated with vehicle 0.9% Saline solution), sample Ⅰ group(1500mg/kg administrated), sample Ⅱ group(3000mg/kg administrated). The results were as follows: 1. The inhibitory effects of the serum GOT activities in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were noted in sample Ⅱ group(p<0.01). In serum GPT activities, sample Ⅱ group(p<0.05) only showed the inhibitory effects. 2. The inhibitory effects of the serum ALP activities in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were noted in sample Ⅱ group(p<0.01) 3. The inhibitory effects of the serum LPH activities in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were noted in sample Ⅱ group, but it is not recognized statistically. 4. The increases effects of the serum triglyceride content level in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were inhibited in both sample Ⅰ group(p<0.05) and sample Ⅱ group(p<0.01) 5. The increases effects of the serum total bilirubin content level in rats induced by $CCl_4$ were inhibited in sample Ⅱ group(p<0.05) 6. The inhibitory effects of the serum GOT, GPT activities in rats induced by d-galactosamine were noted in sample Ⅱ group (p<0.001), but sample Ⅰ group was not recognized. 7. The signiticantly inhibitory effects of in the serum LDH activities in rats induced by d-galactosamine were noted in both sample Ⅰ group(p<0.05) and sample Ⅱ group (p<0.001) 8. The increases of the serum ALP content level in rats induced by d-galactosamine were inhibited in sample Ⅱ group(p<0.05) 9. The increases of the serum total bilirubin content level in rats induced d-galactosamine were inhibited in sample Ⅱgroup(p<0.05) According to the above results, it is considered that Samduhaejungtang-gamibang has protective effect against liver injury in rats induced by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine. So it is required to study about the actions of mutual relation of medicines and patho-mechanism by experiment.

Although BinSo-San(BSS), a mixed herbal formula consisted of 11 types of medicinal herbs and have been used as anti-inflammatory agent, In the present study, the acute toxicity (single oral dose toxicity) of lyophilized BSS aqueous extracts was monitored in male and female mice after oral administration according to Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) Guidelines (2005-60, 2005). In order to observe the 50% lethal dose ($LD_{50}$), approximate lethal dosage (ALD), maximum tolerance dosage (MTD) and target organs, test articles were once orally administered to female and male ICR mice at dose levels of 2000, 1000, 500, 250 and 0 (control) mg/kg (body wt.) according to the recommendation of KFDA Guidelines (2005-60, 2005). The mortality and changes on body weight, clinical signs and gross observation were monitored during 14 days after dosing according to KFDA Guidelines (2005-60, 2005) with organ weight and histopathology of 12 types of principle organs. We could not find any mortality, clinical signs and changes in the body weights except for dose-independent increases of body weight and gains restricted in 1000 mg/kg of BSS extracts-dosing female group. Hypertrophic changes of lymphoid organs.thymus, spleen and popliteal lymph nodes were detectedat postmortem observation with BSS extracts dose-dependent increases of lymphoid organ weights, and hyperplasia of lymphoid cells in these all three lymphoid organs at histopathological observations. These changes are considered as results of pharmacological effects of BSS extracts or their components, immunomodulating effects, not toxicological signs. In addition, some sporadic accidental findings such as congestion spots, cyst formation in kidney, atrophy of thymus and spleen with depletion of lymphoid cells, and edematous changes of uterus with desquamation of uterus mucosa as estrus cycles were detected throughout the whole experimental groups including both male and female vehicle controls. The significant (p<0.01) increases of absolute weights of kidney and pancreas detected in BSS extracts 1000 mg/kg-treated female group are considered as secondary changes from increases of body weights. The results obtained in this study suggest that the BSS extract is non-toxic in mice and is therefore likely to be safe for clinical use. The LD50 and ALD of BSS aqueous extracts in both female and male mice were considered as over 2000 mg/kg because no mortalities were detected upto 2000 mg/kg that was the highest dose recommended by KFDA and OECD. In addition, the MTD of BSS extracts was also considered as over 2000 mg/kg because no BSS extracts-treatment related toxicological signs were detected at histopathological observation except for BSS or their component-related pharmacological effects, the immunomodulating effects detected in the present study.

Carbon dioxide is considered a major greenhouse gas that contributes to global wanning. $CO_2$ is a major component of the exhaust in the combustion of any hydrocarbon fuel. The regulation for $CO_2$ emission from vehicles has become much more stringent in recent years. These more stringent regulations require vehicle manufacturers to develop alternative fuels that reduce exhaust emissions. This paper evaluated the correlation of $CO_2$ emission and fuel economy in the Gasoline, Diesel, and LPG vehicles according to FTP-75 and NEDC(ECE15+EUDC) driving mode. From this study, we discovered that the decrease rate of $CO_2$ emission is higher for fuels of lower carbon concentration. When the relationship between $CO_2$ emission and fuel consumption rate according to used fuels is expressed as a function, one can find out that they have a high correlation. LPG vehicles produce less $CO_2$ emission than gasoline and diesel vehicles.

Ginsenoside Rg1 is a pharmacologically active component isolated from ginseng. The goal of this study was to clarify the beneficial effects of Rg1 on glucose and lipid metabolism in diabetic animals (db/db mice). To accomplish this, ten week old db/db mice were administered 10 mg/kg of Rg1 for 15 days. Rg1 did not influence the weight of db/db mice when compared with vehicle-treated db/db mice. The administration of Rg1 lowered fasting plasma glucose, and improved glucose tolerance. Importantly, Rg1 markedly reduced both plasma triglyceride and free fatty acids, and increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations in db/db mice. Rg1 activated promoter activity of chimeric GAL4-PPAR${\alpha}$ reporter and increased expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR${\alpha}$) target genes such as carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1 (CPT-1) and acyl-CoA oxidase (ACO), which are involved in fatty acid oxidation. These findings indicated that improvement of lipid profiles by Rg1 may be associated with increased fatty acid oxidation via PPAR${\alpha}$ activation. Taken together, these results suggest that Rg1 could have beneficial effects for controlling hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia associated with type 2 diabetes.

This paper describes a numerical modeling for deflection calculation using the natural frequency response that is measured acceleration response for concrete bridges. In the formulation of the dynamic deflection, the change amounts and the transformed responses about six kinds of free vibration responses are defined totally. The predicted response can be obtained from the measured acceleration data without requiring the knowledge of the initial velocity and displacement information. The relationship between the predicted response and the actual deflection is derived using the mathematical modeling that is induced by the process of a acceleration test data. In this study, in order to apply the proposed response predicted model to the integration scheme of the natural frequency domain, the Fourier Fast Transform of the deflection response is separated into the frequency component of the measured data. The feasibility for field application of the proposed calculation method is tested by the mode superposition method using the PSC-I bridges superstructures under several cases of moving load and results are compared with the actually measured deflections using transducers. It has been observed that the proposed method can asses the deflection responses successfully when the measured acceleration signals include the vehicle loading state and the free vibration behavior.
As enforced the regulation of fuel efficiency, the electrification of automotive components in internal combustion vehicle has been applied instead of hydraulic pressure. A typical example of such parts is the EPS (electric power steering), and it is applied to most automotive at present. In electric power steering system, the core component is motor. The reduction of cogging torque and torque ripple is required to improve steering feeling and reduce NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) in EPS. Generally the skewed design of stator or rotor is applied in order to reduce cogging torque and torque ripple. This paper propose the design and analysis methodology of Brusheless PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) which is applied to skewed stator. The proposed methodology is as follows: First Intial Design PMSM with skewed stator for EPS, Second Optimal design using RSM (Response surface method), Third Performance Analysis such as Phase Back EMF, Inductance, Load torque using FEA (Finite Element Method). Finally, the reliability of proposed design methodology will be verified through the experiments of prototype sample.
Manufacturing conb'ol applications consist of concurrent active components such as robots, AGV's (Automatic Guided Vehicles), and conveyors. Running of manufacturing control programs is interactions among those components. We can enhance the productivity and extendability of manufacturing control applications by using the object-oriented teclmology that models those components as reusable objects. But the objects in current object-oriented technology that encapsulate state and behavior infonnation are passive in a sense that those respond only when messages are sent to them. In this paper, we introduce the Distributed Active Object Systems (DAGS) approach that SUPPOltS active objects. Since active objects encapsulate control infonnation in addition to state and behavior information under COREA/Java-based distributed environment, they can represent manufacturing control components better than the objects in ordimuy object-oriented technology. TIus control infonnation provides an object with a featme that can monitor its own status as well as other object's status connected by intelface valiables. Active objects can initiate a behavior according to the change of those status. Therefore, we can sb-uctmally assemble self-initiating active objects by using intelface variables to construct a system without describing bow to control distributed objects by using message passing. As the DAOS approach supports object composability, we can enhal1ce the productivity and extendability of disbibuted manufactming control applications even better than the ordil1alY object-oriented approach. Also, the DAOS approach supports better component reusability with active objects that encapsulate control information .

The calculation of steady-state cavitating flows around Supercavitating Underwater Bodies (SUB's), which consist of a circular disk head (cavitator), a conical fore-body, a cylindrical middle-body and either a boat-tail or a flare-tail, are carried out. To calculate the axisymmetric cavitating flow, used is a commercial computational fluid dynamics code based on the finite volume method, Fluent. From the analysis of numerical results, the cavity and drag, affected by the fore-body and tail of the SUB's, are investigated. Firstly, the effect of the fore-body shape is investigated with the same disk cavitator and a cylindrical rear-body of fixed diameter. Then with the same cavitator and a fixed fore-body, the effect of the rear-body shape is investigated. Before the cavity generated by the cavitator covers the slant of fore-bodies sufficiently, the larger the cone angle of the fore-body(i.e., the shorter the slant length), the larger the drag and the slower the development of cavity. After the cavity covers the fore-body completely so that the pressure drag component of the body is vanished, the characteristics of drag-velocity curves are identical. Also, as the tail angle is bigger, the cavity generated by the cavitator is suppressed further and the drag becomes larger. The peak of the drag appears for the flare-tail, i.e., when the tail angle is positive(+). On the contrary, the trough of the drag appears for the boat-tail, i.e., when the tail angle is negative(-). When the tail angle is 5 degrees, the peak of the drag appears at the body speed of 80m/s and the value of the drag is 43% larger than that at the design speed of 100m/s. When the tail angle is -5 degrees, the trough of the total drag appears at 75m/s and that drag is 30% smaller than that of the cavitator, which means the rest of the body has a negative drag.

Red ginseng is known to have many beneficial effects. Cisplatin, an effective antineoplastic drug, can cause many side effects like irreversible sensorineural hearing loss and serious tinnitus in humans. This study is aimed to reduce a cisplatin's side effect, nephrotoxicity by fermentated korean red ginseng. Korea ginseng was produced by steaming and dring and fermentation. And mice were divided into 4 groups- (A) normal mice, (B) Vehicle treated cisplatin mice, (C) RG0F0-treated cisplatin mice, (D) RG8F3-treated cisplatin mice. C and D groups were feed each material 200 mg/kg/day during 4 days. And cisplatin 20 mg/kg injected to B, C, and D groups as abdominal injection. After 24 h, blood sample was collected. The kidneys were harvested for histological, immuno histochemical and western blot analysis. 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azinobis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) radical scavenging activity was depended on steaming hours. RG0F0 and RG8F3 (ginseng-8 h steamed and fermented by Saccharomyces cerevisiae) were showed antioxidants effect in DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity. Component amounts according to steaming hours. 8 h steamed red ginseng had the most ingredients of ginsenoside. Treatments with RG8F3 reduced cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in the mice resulting in increase of GSH and decrease of ROS, BUN, creatinine, and inflammatory mediators. This result seems to be involved with the restriction of the inflammation in the kidney. Therefore, fermented red ginseng might have therapeutic efficacy in reduce kidney injury induced by cisplatin treatment.
