A Study on the Prediction Models of Used Car Prices for Domestic Brands Using Machine Learning (머신러닝을 활용한 브랜드별 국내 중고차 가격 예측 모델에 관한 연구)

  • The domestic used car market continues to grow along with the used car online platform service. The used car online platform service discloses vehicle specifications, accident history, inspection history, and detailed options to service consumers. Most of the preceding studies were predictions of used car prices using vehicle specifications and some options for vehicles. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that there was a nonlinear relationship between used car prices and some specification variables. Accordingly, the researchers tried to solve the nonlinear problem by executing a Machine Learning model. In common, the Regression based Machine Learning model had the advantage of knowing the actual influence and direction of variables, but there was a disadvantage of low Cost Function figures compared to the Decision Tree based Machine Learning model. This study attempted to predict used car prices of six domestic brands by utilizing both vehicle specifications and vehicle options. Through this, we tried to collect the advantages of the two types of Machine Learning models. To this end, we sequentially conducted a regression based Machine Learning model and a decision tree based Machine Learning model. As a result of the analysis, the practical influence and direction of each brand variable, and the best tree based Machine Learning model were selected. The implications of this study are as follows. It will help buyers and sellers who use used car online platform services to predict approximate used car prices. And it is hoped that it will help solve the problem caused by information inequality among users of the used car online platform service.

A Development of an Evaluation System for Traffic Calming Schemes (교통정온화사업 평가체계 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In the study, evaluation indicators that should be considered in applying traffic calming schemes were developed, and it was intended to analyze the importance of indicators that should most considered in evaluation traffic calming scheme through AHP analysis on the basis of it. The result of the study is summarized as follows. The result of evaluation indicators may be summarized by dividing into residential area and commercial area. In category, the safety is shown to be more important than other indicators in the analysis when evaluation (residential area is 0.514 and commercial area is 0.439). Importance of evaluation indicators was analyzed in order Average Vehicle Speed, Traffic Accident Severity, and Pedestrian Separation. Residential areas to help keep the safety of pedestrians 'Average Vehicle Speed' as the major indices were derived. In commercial areas were analyzed as an important indicator Pedestrian Separation. Because there are so many pedestrians. When applying the effect of Traffic Calming, residential is greater than the commercial area.

  • There are still problems have to solve for safety of driving comparing to the upgraded convenience of advanced vehicle. Most traffic accident is by uncareful driving cause of interface operations which are directive reasons of it in controlling the complicate multimedia device. According to interesting in smart automobile, various approaches for safe driving have been studied. The current multimedia interface embedded in vehicle is lacking the safety due to loss the sense and operation capacity by instantaneous view movement. In this paper, we propose a safe dialing system for safe driving to control dial and search dictionary by hand-gesture. The proposed system improved the user convenience and safety in automobile operation using intuitive gesture and TTS(Text to Speech).

The Effects of Horizontal Curves on Vehicle Speeds and Accidents (평면곡선부의 속도 및 교통사고 영향분석연구)

  • The Purpose of this Paper was to study the relationship between the change of operating speeds and the accidents on horizontal curves. For this purpose, we divided a horizontal curve section into two parts, a tangent section and a curve section, to estimate the operating speed for each vehicle. For studying relationship between the change of speed and geometric effect, the free-flow speed was used. The location and speed for the lowest speed were studied. Also, we analyzed the relationship between the change of operating speeds and the accidents. The followings are resulted in this study. First, drivers tend to reduce speeds significantly before they reach a curve. And the lowest speed was recorded at the downstream of the Point of curve (PC) due to the limited sight-distance of drivers on curve. Second, the larger the change of operating speeds become, the greater frequency of accident was recorded. These results can be used for developing the safety index on highways to check the design consistency.

Evaluation of In-vehicle Warning Information Modalities by Kansei Engineering (감성공학을 이용한 차내 경고정보 제공방식 평가)

  • Provision of in-vehicle warning information is of keen interest since it can be effectively used to prevent traffic accident on the road. This study evaluates the effectiveness of information provision modalities based on kansei engineering. Various warning information scenarios using different modalities are devised for the evaluation. Statistical data analysis techniques including factor analysis, correlation analysis, and the general linear model are used to assess the user's affect for information modalities. The evaluation result shows that the provision of visual information consisted of 'text and pictogram' leads to higher understandability. The combination of beep sound and voice message' was identified as a more effective modality for auditory warning. In addition, the red color for the blinking warning signal was preferred by users.

Analysis of wildlife-vehicle collisions and monitoring the movement of wildlife (야생동물-차량과의 충돌사고 발생위치분석과 도로주변에서 야생동물의 이동경로분석)

  • From 2006 through 2007, the highest need for the most urgent attention in Gangwon-do Wild Animal Rescue Center was wildlifevehicle collisions (WVC). The Korean Ministry of Environment reported 6543 WVC's in 2005 and 5565 cases of WVC's in 2006. In this study, data from the Gangwon-do Wild Animal Rescue Center was utilized to analyze WVC incidents and the movement of wildlife near roadways in Korea. From 2006 through the first half of 2008, the portable GPS device recorded accident location of the injured wildlife. Attempts were made to track and monitor the movements of four raccoon dogs and five Korean water deers near the roads. One raccoon dog and one Korean water deer were successfully tracked and monitored. Their locations were transmitted to cell phones. The amount of WVC's was highest amongst the roads near the forests of Gangwon-do. The devices installed on the nearby roads did not protect the wildlife from WVC's. Results using the CDMA-type GPS collar showed that wildlife often crossed the road even with devices installed to prevent this from crossing roads. This research analyzed the behaviors of different wildlife animals and WVC's. New preventative measures need to be established to avoid roadkill. It is suggested that new streets be built or for an appropriate speed limit be implemented.

Aortic Arch Rupture due to Compression Injury of the Thorax - A case report - (흉부 압박손상에 의한 대동맥궁 파열 - 1예 보고 -)

  • Traumatic rupture of the thoracic aorta is the second most common cause of death from motor vehicle accidents after head injury. About 85% of these patients do not survive to reach the hospital. The most common mechanism for this is deceleration injury, as occurs in a high speed motor vehicle accident. The aortic isthmus is the site of disruption for about 95% of all blunt thoracic aortic injuries. Another mechanism is crush injury which causes compression of the aorta between the displaced sternal body or manubrium and the thoracic vertebral column. These forces tear the inner layer of the aortic wall at an unusual location. We report here on a case of aortic arch dissection where the injury clearly occurred due to a crush injury and not because of deceleration. The surgical repair was delayed for 10 days after administering intensive medical therapy. The ascending aorta and aortic arch were replaced with an artificial graft with the patient under circulatory arrest and cerebral protection.

  • Vehicle Black Box (Event Data Recorder EDR) only recognizes the general surrounding environments of load. In addition, general EDR is difficult to recognize the images of a sudden illumination change. It appears that the lens is being a severe distortion. Therefore, general EDR does not provide the clues of the circumstances of the accident. To solve this problem, we estimate the value of Normalized Luminance Descriptor(NLD) and Normalized Contrast Descriptor(NCD). Illumination change is corrected using Normalized Image Quality(NIQ). Second, we are corrected lens distortion using model of Field Of View(FOV) based on designed method of fisheye lens. As a result, we propose integration algorithm of two methods that correct distortions of images using each Gamma Correction and Lens Correction in parallel.

Methodology for Estimating Safety Benefits of Advanced Driver Assistant Systems (첨단 운전자지원시스템의 교통안전 효과추정 방법론)

  • Recent advanced sensors and communication technologies have been widely applied to advanced safety vehicle (ASV) for reducing traffic accident and injury severity. To apply the advanced safety vehicle technologies, it is important to quantify the safety benefits, which is a fundamental for justifying application. This study proposed a methodology for quantifying the effectiveness of the advanced driver assistant system (ADAS), and applied the methodology to lane departure warning system (LDWS) and automatic emergency braking system (AEBS) which are typical advanced driver assistant systems. When the proposed methodology is applied to 2008-2010 gyeonggi-province crash data, LDWS would reduce about 10~14% of relevant crashes such as head-on, run-off-the road, rollover and fixed-object collisions on the road. In addition, AEBS could potentially prevent about 50% of total rear-end crashes. The outcomes of this study support decision making for developing not only vehicular technology but also relevant safety policies.

Analyzing Traffic Impacts of the Utilitarian Robotic Autonomous Vehicle (자율주행차량의 윤리적 문제 점검을 위한 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • Autonomous Vehicles(AV) are considered as an alternative to solve various social problems. Many researches which are related to developing technologies and AV operations have been conducted vastly and on-going. However, there seem to be little studies on various influences of AI algorithm on driving installed in AV. This study aims to examine the impacts of the ethical decisions made by Utilitarianism-based AI in AV when the oncoming car crossed over the central line. It establishes scenarios about situation of encroaching a central line and analyzes traffic impacts of ethical decision made by AV. According to the results of the analyses, as th accident occurs, overall speed of traffic decrease. There is a negative impact on the traffic flow when AV made an Utilitarian-based ethical decision by changing the lane. However, when AV choose to collide head-on, there is a positive effect to relieve traffic flow with an assistance of CACC, equipped.
