The entire land of Southern Iran faces problems arising out of various types of land degradation of which vegetation degradation forms one of the major types. The present work introduces a model developed for assessing the current status of hazard of vegetation degradation using Geographic Information System (GIS). This kind of assessment differs from those assessments based on vulnerability or potential hazard assessments. The Sadra watershed which covers the upper reaches of Marharlu basin, Fars Province, has been chosen for a hazard assessment of this type of degradation. The different kinds of data for indicators of current status of vegetation degradation were gathered from collecting of field data and also records of the governmental offices of Iran. Taking into consideration three indicators of current status of vegetation degradation the model identifies areas with different hazard classes. By fixing the thresholds of severity classes of the three indicators including per cent of vegetation cover, biomass production and ratio of actual biomass to potential biomass production, a hazard map for each indicator was first prepared in GIS. The final hazard map of current status of vegetation degradation was prepared by intersecting three hazards in the GIS. Results show areas under severe hazard class have been found to be widespread (89 %) while areas under moderate and very severe hazard classes have been found less extensive in the Sadra watershed. The preparation of hazard maps based on the GIS analysis of these indicators will be helpful for prioritizing the areas to initiate remedial measures.
In this study, the correlation between the heat island effect and the vegetation in Deagu Korea was performed through using Landsat TM data. the island effect, presents high temperature on air like island, is connected with correlation between the surface temperature and the temperature on the air. In this study, surface temperature was analyzed by detecting the change of urban forestry with remote sensing using the vegetation vitality statistics reference (ratio change of the Park greens in Daegu) the heat island effect not only brings the environment pollution but also brings serious problem such as the destruction of ecosystem to city as a whole. Jeff Luvall has studied to restrain the heat island effect by making urban forestry. Even though Daegu had been the serious high temperature urban area the current temperature of Daegu has been dropped. The correlation between the heat island effect and the vegetation index was analyzed by using satellite images.
A syntaxonomical study about coastal sand dune vegetation in Kyungpook province was carried out. This study was accomplished by the methods of classical block-structure seeking and had-sorting of the $Z\"{u}rich-Montpellier$ School. The main purpose of this study is to clarify the syntaxonomical, synecological, syngeographical and syndynamical characteristics of coastal sand dune vegetation in Kyungpook province. The dune shrubs communities in Kyungpook province are consisted of 2 communities: Vitex rotundifolia community of southern type and Rosa rugosa community of northern type. And the dune grasslands communities are also consisted of 2 communities: Elymo-Caricetum kobomugi Ohba, miyawaki et $T\"{u}xen$ 1973 and carex kobomugi typical community. The subsidiary knowledges from this study will make possible to accumulate qualitative and quantitative information in the distribution pattern of coastal sand dune vegetation, and also will provide practical information for national biodiversity and conservation of coastal ecosystem.ecosystem.
Drought caused by meteorological factors negatively affects vegetation in terrestrial ecosystems. In this study, the state in which meteorological drought affects vegetation was defined as the ecological drought of vegetation, and the ecological drought condition index of vegetation (EDCI-veg) was proposed to quantitatively monitor the degree of impact. EDCI-veg is derived from a copula-based bi-variate joint probability model between vegetation and meteorological drought information, and can be expressed numerically how affected the current vegetation condition was by the drought when the drought occurred. Comparing past meteorological drought events with their corresponding vegetation condition, the proposed index was examined, and it was confirmed that EDCI-veg could properly monitor the ecological drought of vegetation. In addition, it was possible to spatially identify ecological drought conditions by creating a high-resolution drought map using remote sensing data.

Small-scale environmental impact assessments have limitations in terms of survey duration and evaluation resources, which can hinder the assessment and analysis of the current situation. In this study, we propose the use of drone technology during the environmental impact assessment process to supplement these limitations in the current situation analysis. Drone photography can provide rapid and accurate high-resolution images, allowing for the collection of various information about the target area. This information can include different types of data such as terrain, vegetation, landscape, and real-time 3D spatial information, which can be collected and processed using GIS software to understand and analyze the environmental conditions. In this study, we confirmed that terrain and vegetation analysis and prediction of the target area using drone photography and GIS analysis software is possible, providing useful information for environmental impact assessments.
Today, there is a growing need of environment-friendly buildings, so-called 'green', facilities, and energy saving buildings to decrease environmental pollutants released into cities by construction activities. Green-Building Information Modeling (Green-BIM) is a purpose-built solution which supports to forecast energy consumption of 3-D model of a building by augmenting its primary 3-D measurements (width, height and depth) with many more dimensions (e.g. time, costs, social impacts and environmental consequences) throughout a series of sequential phases in the lifecycle of a building. The current study was carried out in order to integrate vegetation systems (particularly green roof and green wall systems) and investigate thermal performance of the new Sainsbury's building which will be built on Melton road, Leicester, United Kingdom. Within this scope, a 3-D building model of the news Sainsbury's building was first developed in $Autodesk^{(R)}$$Revit^{(R)}$ and this model was then simulated in $Autodesk^{(R)}$$Ecotect^{(R)}$once weather data of the construction site was obtained from $Autodesk^{(R)}$ Green Building $Studio^{(R)}$. This study primarily analyzed data from (1) solar radiation, (2) heat gains and losses, and (3) heating and cooling loads simulation to evaluate thermal performance of the building integrated with vegetation system or conventionally available envelops. The results showed that building integrated vegetation system can potentially reduce internal solar gains on the building rooftops by creating a 'bioshade'. Heat gains and losses through roofs and walls were markedly diminished by offering greater insulation on the building. Annual energy loads for heating and cooling were significantly reduced by vegetation more significantly through the green roof system in comparison to green wall system.
This paper presents a study on the Internet of Things based low-power wireless sensor networks for remote monitoring of wildlife ecosystem due to climate change. Especially, it is targeting the wild vegetation communities ecological monitoring. First, we performed a pre-test and analysis for selecting the appropriate frequency for the sensor network to collect and deliver information reliably in harsh propagation environment of the forest area, and selected for sensors for monitoring wild vegetation communities on the basis of considerations for selecting the best sensor. In addition, we have presented the platform concept and hierarchical function structures for effectively monitoring, analyzing and predicting of ecosystem changes, to apply the Internet of Things in the ecological monitoring area. Based on this, this paper presents the system architecture and design of the Internet of Things based low-power wireless sensor networks for monitoring the ecosystem of the wild vegetation communities. Finally, we constructed and operated the test-bed applied to real wild trees, using the developed prototype based on the design.

The vegetation area that occupies 76% in land surface of the earth can give a considerable impact on water resources, environment and ecological system by future climate change. The purpose of this study is to predict future vegetation cover information from NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) extracted from satellite images. Current vegetation information was prepared from monthly NDVI (March to November) extracted from NOAA AVHRR (1994 - 2004) and Terra MODIS (2000 - 2004) satellite images. The NDVI values of MODIS for 5 years were 20% higher than those of NOAA. The interrelation between NDVIs and monthly averaged climate factors (daily mean, maximum and minimum temperature, rainfall, sunshine hour, wind velocity, and relative humidity) for 5 river basins of South Korea showed that the monthly NDVIs had high relationship with monthly averaged temperature. By linear regression, the future NDVIs were estimated using the future mean temperature of CCCma CGCM2 A2 and B2 climate change scenario. The future vegetation information by NOAA NDVI showed little difference in peak value of NDVI, but the peak time was shifted from July to August and maintained high NDVIs to October while the present NDVI decrease from September. The future MODIS NDVIs showed about 5% increase comparing with the present NDVIs from July to August.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the reflectance of soil and plant in order to extract the soil and vegetation informations using the satellite remote sensing data. The influence of soil moisture content and vegetation cover rate on the soil reflectance, and the relationship between vegetation reflectence and its vitality were discussed. The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows; I) The soil reflectance($R_{0.65}$) of wavelength ($0.65{\mu}m$) was closely related to the reflectance((($IR_{0.85}$) of wavelength $0.85{\mu}m$. This relationship could be expressed by soil line. 2) A point on the soil line was affected by the soil moisture ratio and the organic matter content. 3) The vegetation cover rate was formulated in terms of soil and vegetation reflectance at wavelengths pf $0.65{\mu}m$($R_{0.65}$) and ($0.85{\mu}m$) (($IR_{0.85}$). 4) The vegetation reflectence was strongly influenced by its vitality, which was related to the moisture content and the chlorophy [[-a concentration.

Since the phases and patterns of the climate adaptability of vegetation can greatly differ from region to region, an intensive pixel scale approach is required. In this study, Partial Least Squares (PLS) regression on satellite image-based vegetation index is conducted for to assess the effect of climate factors on vegetation productivity and to predict future productivity of forests vegetation in South Korea. The results indicate that the mean temperature of wettest quarter (Bio8), mean temperature of driest quarter (Bio9), and precipitation of driest month (Bio14) showed higher influence on vegetation productivity. The predicted 2050 EVI in future climate change scenario have declined on average, especially in high elevation zone. The results of this study can be used in productivity monitoring of climate-sensitive vegetation and estimation of changes in forest carbon storage under climate change.
