움직임 추정을 위한 개선된 다단계 연속 제거 알고리즘 (AMSEA: Advanced Multi-level Successive Elimination Algorithms for Motion Estimation)

  • 본 논문에서는 블록 정합 알고리즘(BMA: block matching algorithm)인 다단계 연속 제거 알고리즘(MSEA: multi-level successive elimination algorithm)[1]의 연산량을 줄이기 위하여 네 가지 방안을 제안하였다. 첫 번째 제안 방안은 MSEA에서 서브 블록(sub block)의 합 놈(sum norm)에 대한 절대 오차의 합(SAD: sum of absolute difference)을 계산할 때 부분 왜곡 제거(PDE: partial distortion elimination) 기법을 적용하여 연산량을 감소시킨 알고리즘이다. 두 번째 제안 방안인 적응 SAD 계산 알고리즘은 SAD 계산 시 절대 오차가 큰 값에서부터 작은 값의 순으로 SAD를 계산하면 PDE가 빨리 발생하게 되어 연산량을 줄일 수 있는 성질을 이용한 알고리즘이다. 세 번째 제안 방안인 제거 레벨 추정 알고리즘은 탐색점의 제거 레벨을 추정하고 추정된 레벨에서부터 상위 레벨로 다단계 연속 제거 과정을 수행함으로 추정된 제거레벨보다 낮은 레벨들과 연관된 연산량을 감소시킨 알고리즘이다. 제안된 첫 번째, 두 번째, 세 번째 방안은 움직임 추정의 정확도가 전역 탐색 알고리즘(FSA: full search algorithm) 및 MSEA와 동일하면서 MSEA의 연산량을 효과적으로 감소시킨 알고리즘들이다. 네 번째 제안 방안인 나선형 다이아몬드 그물 탐색 알고리즘은 움직임 추정의 정확도가 거의 100%이면서 움직임 추정에 필요한 연산량을 획기적으로 감소시킨 고속 블록 정합 알고리즘이다. 위의 네 가지 제안 방안에 대한 성능을 평가하기 위하여 실험을 수행하였으며 실험에서 제안 방안들의 효율성을 확인하였다.

Practical Study about Obstacle Detecting and Collision Avoidance Algorithm for Unmanned Vehicle

  • In this research, we will devise an obstacle avoidance algorithm for a previously unmanned vehicle. Whole systems consist mainly of the vehicle system and the control system. The two systems are separated; this system can communicate with the vehicle system and the control system through wireless RF (Radio Frequency) modules. These modules use wireless communication. And the vehicle system is operated on PIC Micro Controller. Obstacle avoidance method for unmanned vehicle is based on the Virtual Force Field (VFF) method. An obstacle exerts repulsive forces and the lane center point applies an attractive force to the unmanned vehicle. A resultant force vector, comprising of the sum of a target directed attractive force and repulsive forces from an obstacle, is calculated for a given unmanned vehicle position. With resultant force acting on the unmanned vehicle, the vehicle's new driving direction is calculated, the vehicle makes steering adjustments, and this algorithm is repeated.

  • Let $S_k(N)$ be the space of cusp forms of weight k for ${\Gamma}_0(N)$. We show that $S_k(N)$ is the direct sum of subspaces $S_k^+(N)$ and $S_k^-(N)$. Where $S_k^+(N)$ is the vector space of cusp forms of weight k for the group ${\Gamma}_0^+(N)$ generated by ${\Gamma}_0(N)$ and $W_N$ and $S_k^-(N)$ is the subspace consisting of elements f in $S_k(N)$ satisfying $f{\mid}_kW_N=-f$. We find generators spanning the space $S_k^-(N)$ from $Poincar{\acute{e}}$ series and give all linear relations among such generators.

H.264 의 고속 정수 단위 화소 움직임 예측을 위한 개선된 Uneven Multi-Hexagon-grid 검색 알고리즘 (Fast Uneven Multi-Hexagon-Grid Search Algorithm for Integer Pel Motion Estimation of H.264)

  • 본 논문에서는 H.264 표준화 기구인 Joint Video Team(JVT) 권고안의 정수 단위 화소 움직임 예측을 위한 Unsymmetrical-cross Multi-Hexagon-grid Search(UMHexagonS) 알고리즘에서 Uneven Multi-Hexagon-grid Search(UMHGS) 부분을 개선한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 이전 프레임의 동일위치 또는 상위 모드에서 이미 선택된 움직임 벡터(MV: Motion Vector)를 이용하여 신호 대 잡음 비(PSNR: Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) 및 평균 비트 율(Average Bitrates)을 유지하면서, 현재 매크로블록의 검색영역을 줄이는 것이 가능하다. 제안하는 알고리즘의 성능은 Full Search Block Matching Algorithm(FSBMA) 및 UMHexagonS 알고리즘의 integer pel 에 대한 SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) 연산횟수로 비교평가 하였다. 그 결과, FSBMA 에 비하여 평균 97.64%, UMHexagonS 에 비하여는 평균 17.48%의 연산횟수를 감소시키는 우수함을 보였다.

  • This paper proposes an elliptical world-modeling mehtrod in order to secure the safety of the mobile robot from the unreliability of ultrasonic sensors and to estimate the lateral orientation of the detected objects. This method is advnatageous because the total amount of data that the robot utilizes is reduced when historical and new data are clusterd during each sensing period and also because the objects in the environment can be almost exactly recognized. This paper also proposes a new local path planning algorithm which is divided into four different situations and gudies the robot through the safe local path using dat acollected in elliptical form. This algorithm can help the AMR navigate by allowing it to sum up the virtual vector forces made form the ellipses in order to select a safe subgoal. This local path plannin gmehtod using the elliptical world model has been proved by several navigation experiments.

Optimal Weights of Linear Combinations of the Independent Poisson Signals for Discrimination

  • Suppose one is given a vector X of a finite set of quantities $X_i$ which are independent Poisson signals. A null hypothesis $H_0$ about E(X) is to be tested against an alternative hypothesis $H_1$. A quantity $$\sum\limits_{i}\omega_ix_i$$ is to be computed and used for the test. The optimal values of $\omega_i$ are calculated for three cases : (1) signal to noise ratio is used in the test, (2) normal approximations with unequal variances to the Poisson distributions are used in the test, and (3) the Poisson distribution it self is used. A comparison is made of the optimal values of $\omega_i$ in the three cases as parameter goes to infinity.

근접장 발파진동에서 진동속도와 진동레벨의 비교 (The Vibration Velocity and Vibration Level of Near-field Blasting Vibration in an Urban Blasting Site)

  • The vibration level (dB(V)) and vibration velocity (cm/sec) on the ground and buildings due to the differences of the measuring sites from the blasting source was investigated. To compare with vibration level and vibration velocity theirs magnitude was not surely directly proportional and vibration velocity 0.1 cm/sec was $45\~50$ dB(V). The difference between the measured vibration level and the calculated vibration level by Ejima's equation using vibration velocity PVS(peak vector sum) showed $21.0\~30.9$ dB(V) on the ground, $15.3\~23.6$ dB(V) on the apartment, respectively. And the correlation of vibration velocity and nitration level at the measuring sites of lower altitude showed higher than that of higher altitude.

  • The determination of firing order is very significant procedure in initial stage of design for medium speed diesel engine. Generally, the selection of firing order has been accomplished in view of minimum excitation forces condition. In this paper all possible firing orders under the given number of cylinder were considered to decide the optimum. Meanwhile torsional vibration characteristics using the phase vector sum method and minimum excitation force concept were applied. From these results, some superior cases were selected. And then, the torsional vibration response analysis and the resonance characteristics of engine structure were investigated for the final decision.

  • In this paper, a discrete-time variable structure control method using recursively defined switching function and a decoupled variable structure disturbance compensator is used to achieve high performance circular motion control of a CNC machining center. The discrete-time variable structure control with the decoupled disturbance compensator method developed in this paper uses a recursive switching function defined as the sum of the current tracking error vector and the previous value of the switching function multiplied by a positive constant less than one. This recursive switching function provides much improved performance compared to the method that uses a switching function defined only as a linear combination of the current tracking error. Enhancements in tracking performance are demonstrated in the circular motion control using a CNC milling machine.

Directionally Transparent Energy Bounding Approach for Multiple Degree-of-Freedom Haptic Interaction

  • This paper presents a multiple degree-of-freedom (dof) energy bounding approach (EBA) to enhance directional transparency while guaranteeing stability for multiple-dof haptic interaction. It was observed that the passivity condition for multiple ports may lead to some oscillatory limit cycle behaviors in some coordinate directions even though the total sum of energy flow-in is positive, meaning that the system is passive. The passivity condition, therefore, needs to be applied to each coordinate in order to avoid oscillatory behavior by keeping each energy flow-in always positive. For guaranteeing passivity, which in turn, stability in each coordinates, the EBA is applied. For multiple-dof haptic interaction, however, the EBA in each coordinate may distort the direction of the force vector to be rendered since the EBA may cut down the magnitude of the force and torque vectors to be rendered in order to ensure the passivity. For avoiding this problem, a simple projection method is presented. The validity of the proposed algorithm is shown by several experiments.
