  • In this paper, the new vector control scheme of BLDCM producing loss-minimized ripple-free torque based on the d-q-Ο reference frame is presented including 3 phase unbalanced condition. The optimized phase current wave-forms that are obtained by the proposed method can be a reference values and the motor winding currents are forced to track it by delta modulation technique. As a results, it can be shown that the proposed work provides a simple and clear way to obtain an optimal motor excitation current.

  • A novel current controlled PWM voltage source type converter and control strategy is proposed that is able to draw nearly sinusoidal current at unity power factor from three phase power lines. Current error vector control scheme is used which has two operating states : low harmonic current content state and quick current response state. The state is changed according to the current error to optimize the steady state and transient state performances. To regulate the dc oupput voltage, the magnitude of the reference current is determined by a controller dc voltage error. The ac input power factor can be controlled with unity, and even leading or lagging by adjusting the relative position of the reference current with respect to the supply voltage.

  • When the vector control, which does not need a speed signal from a mechanical speed sensor, it is possible to reduce the cost of the control equipment and to improve the control performance in many industrial application. This paper describes a rotor speed identification method of induction motor based on the theory of Model Reference Adaptive System(MRAS). The identifier execute the rotor speed identification so that the vector control of the induc-tion motor may be achieved. The improved auxiliary variable are introduce to perform accurate rotor speed identification. Simulation and experimental result show the validity of the proposed control method.

  • This paper presents a lecture note of pu method for power system analysis. The author tries to help students in class better understand the fundamental of pu calculation using a very simple DC circuit. And a voltage drop calculation by pu method for a distribution system is given to help understand the importance of the vector reference in AC circuit analysis. A short current calculation by pu method for a power system with a generator, transformer and transmission line is also presented to show how pu calculation can be applied to real power systems, in which all the data are the ones currently being used by KEPCO and other industrial sites.

  • In case of field weakening region, the dynamic behavior of the speed controller depends on the rotor flux level. In this region, the flux is decreased inversely proportional to the rotor speed. As the rotor flux is decreased, as the magnetizing inductance is increased. In this paper, the effect of this increased magnetizing inductance to the performance of vector control is illustrated. The stationary reference frame torque not including the magnetizing inductance is calculated by stationary stator flux, and the rotating reference frame torque including the magnetizing inductance is calculated by rotating rotor flux. If the magnetizing inductance value is constant, two torque values are same regardless of the flux-component current. However, if the magnetizing inductance is varied, those two values are different. The paper presents the new tuning scheme of the magnetizing inductance using the difference between the stationary and rotating torque. Computer simulation demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed scheme.

  • This paper proposed indoor location recognition method based on RSSI (received signal strength indication) using the LVQ (Learning Vector Quantization) network. The LVQ inputs are the RSSI values measured by the fixed reference nodes and the output are the spatial sections. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we performed experiments, and then compared to the conventional triangularity measurement method.

  • This paper presents sensorless vector control of induction motor drives with an improved model reference adaptive system observer for rotor speed estimation and parameters identification from measured stator currents, stator voltages and estimated rotor fluxes. The aim of the proposed sensorless control method is to compensate simultaneously stator resistance and rotor time constant variations which are subject of large changes during operation. PI controllers have been used in the model reference adaptive system adaptation mechanism and in the closed loops of speed and currents regulation. The stability of the proposed observer is proved by the Lyapunov's theorem and its feasibility is verified by experimentation. The experimental results are obtained with an 1 kW induction motor using Matlab/Simulink and a dSPACE system with DS1104 controller board showing the effectiveness of the proposed approach in terms of dynamic performance.

  • We propose a block motion estimation algorithm based on a statistical image feature for video sequences. The statistical feature of the reference block is obtained, then applied to select the candidate starting points (SPs) in the regular starting points pattern (SPP) by comparing the statistical feature of reference block with that of blocks which are spread ower regular SPP. The final SPs are obtained by their Mean Absolute Difference(MAD) value among the candidate SPs. Finally, one of conventional fast search algorithms, such as BRGDS, DS, and three-step search (TSS), has been applied to generate the motion vector of reference block using the final SPs as its starting points. The experimental results showed that the starting points from fine SPs were as dose as to the global minimum as we expected.

  • This paper proposes a torque control method for surface mounted permanent magnetic synchronous motor (PMSM) driven by a 2-level voltage source driven inverter, which has fast torque response and small torque ripple. The proposed torque control method follows the finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy. A reference state is derived at each time step for the given time varying torque reference and the cost index is defined so that the tracking error for this reference state should be penalized. The choice of an optimal output voltage vector is made first from the 6 possible active voltage vectors of the 2-level voltage source inverter. Then a modulation factor for the chosen optimal voltage vector is obtained so that the torque ripple can be reduced further. It is shown that the proposed FCS-MPC control method yields fast torque tracking response and small torque ripple through simulation and experiments.

  • In this paper, an attempt has been made to design the controller applicable for H.264 level3 encoder of baseline profile on full hardware basis. The designed controller module first stores the images supplied from CMOS Image Sensor(CIS) at main memory, and then reads or stores the image data in macroblock unit according to encoder operation. The timing cycle of the DMA controller required to process a macroblock is 478 cycles. In order to verify the our design, reference-C encoder, which is compatible to JM 9.4, is developed and the designed controller is verified by using the test vector generated from the reference C code. The number of cycle in the designed DMA controller is reduced by 40% compared with the cycle of using Xilinx MIG.
