ZnO 나노파우더 바리스터의 C-V 및 주파수 특성 분석 (Analysis of C-V and Frequency Characteristics of the ZnO nano-powder Varistors)

  • In this study, our varistors based on M.Matsuoke's composition were fabricated with ZnO nano-powder whose sizes were 50nm and 100nm. Electrical properties of ZnO nano-powder varistors were obtained by capacitance-voltage and frequency-real impedance. nano-powder varistors are indicated the change of the interface defects density $N_t$ at the grain boundaries and the donor concentration $N_d$ in the ZnO grains. Frequency analysis was accomplished to understand the equivalent circuit.

Property and ANN Simulating Model of Power Losses of ZnO Varistors

  • ZnO varistors are widely used as surge arresters in power system based on their excellent nonlinearity. The property of power loss of ZnO varistors is related to the thermal stability and their life-spans of ZnO surge arresters. The power losses of ZnO varistors under different temperatures and applied voltages were measured, and the properties of power losses were analyzed. The Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was used to simulate the power losses properties of ZnO varistors which is an adaptive nonlinear dynamic system, and the results calculated by ANN simulating model were in good agreement with the tested ones.

  • The microstructure, electrical, and degradation characteristics against impulse current of ZPCCL-based varistors were investigated with various sintering temperature in the range of $1240\sim1300^{\circ}C$. The densification of varistors was improved, but the nonlinearity was deteriorated with increase of sintering temperature. The varistors sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ and $1260^{\circ}C$ exhibited high stability against surge stress. On the whole, the variation of characteristics of varistor for surge stress was increased in order of varistor voltage$\rightarrow$nonlinear exponent$\rightarrow$dissipation factor$\rightarrow$leakage current.

  • This paper describes the long duration withstand current characteristics of ZnO varistors. Two ZnO varistors were manufactured with general ceramic production methods and three abroad varistors were also prepared to be compared. During long duration withstand test, sample 1 was destroyed at 4th impulse current but the rest passed test. Before and After the test, the residual voltage variation of varistors passed was below 5%. According to the test results, it is thought that the manufacturing process such as insulating coating, sintering condition and soldering method should be improved.

전도성 E1 펄스에 대한 ZnO 바리스터의 동작특성 분석 (Response Characteristic Analysis of ZnO Varistors by the Conductive E1 Pulse)

  • This work presents the response characteristics of a ZnO varistor to conductive EMP. An E1 pulse, standardized to MIL-STD-188-125-1, was applied to the varistors wherein the residual current and response times were measured with the applied E1 pulse current. Additionally, the response time was measured according to the length of the connection path. Consequently, the amplitude of the residual voltage through the ZnO varistors was increased with increasing amplitude of the applied E1 pulse current. As the length of the connection path increased, the operating response time and residual peak voltage also increased. These results indicate that the response characteristics of ZnO varistors can be applied to basic data to support the use of varistors as a protective measure against conductive EMP.

산화아연소자의 성형공정에 따른 전기적 특성과 성능평가 (Electrical Characteristics and Performance Evaluation with Manufacturing Process of Zinc Oxide Varistors)

  • This paper presents the electrical characteristics with manufacturing process and performance evaluation of high performance zinc oxide varistors. ZnO varistors were fabricated with typical ceramic production methods with different thickness and the structural and electrical characteristics of ZnO varistors were investigated. All varistors exhibited high density, which was in the range of $5.41{\sim}5.49g/cm^3$. In the electrical properties, the reference voltage increased in the range of $4.410{\sim}5.250kV$ with increasing their thickness and the residual voltage exhibited the same trends as the reference voltage. In the long duration current impulse withstand test, E-2 and F-1 samples failed at the two and four shots of impulse current, respectively, but E-1 and F-2 samples survived 18 shots during the test. Before and after this test, the variation ratio of residual voltage of E-1 and F-2 samples were -0.34 % and 0.05 %, respectively, which were in the acceptance range of 5 %. According to the results of tests, it is thought that if the fabrication process such as insulating coating, sintering condition, and soldering method is improved, these ZnO varistors would be possible to apply to the station class arresters in the near future.

ZnO-${Pr_6}{O_{11}}$-CoO-${Er_2}{O_3}$계 바리스터의 안정성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Stability of ZnO-${Pr_6}{O_{11}}$-CoO-${Er_2}{O_3}$Based Varistors)

  • The stability of ZnO-Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-CoO-Er$_{2}$/O$_3$based varistors was investigated with Er$_{2}$/O$_3$additive content of the range 0.0 to 2.0 mol%. All varistors sintered at 130$0^{\circ}C$ exhibited the thermal runaway within short times even under weak d.c. stress. As a result these varistors were completely degraded. On the contrary the stability of varistors sintered at 135$0^{\circ}C$ was far better than that of 130$0^{\circ}C$. In particular the varistors added with 0.5mol% Er$_{2}$/O$_3$ which the nonlinear exponent is 34.83 and the leakage current is 7.38 $mutextrm{A}$ showed a excellent stability which the variation rate of the varistors voltage the nonlinear coefficient and the leakage current is below 1%, 2%, and 3.5% respectively even under more severe d.c. stress such as (0.80 V$_{1mA}$9$0^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.85 V$_{1mA}$115$^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.90 V$_{1mA}$12$0^{\circ}C$12h) Consequently it is estimated that the ZnO-0.5 mol% Pr$_{6}$/O sub 11/-1.0 mol% CoO-0.5 mol% Er$_{2}$/O sub 3/ based varistors will be used to develop the advanced Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-1.0 mol% CoO-0.5 mol% Er$_{2}$/O$_{3}$ based varistors will be used to develop the advanced Pr$_{6}$/O$_{11}$-based ZnO varistors having the high performance and stability in future. future.ure. future.

Impulse Degradation Behavior of ZPCCYE Varistors with Y2O3/Er2O3 Ratio

  • The nonlinear electrical properties and degradation behavior against an impulse-current of 400 A in the ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}$-CoO-$Cr_2O_3$-$Y_2O_3$-$Er_2O_3$ (ZPCCYE) varistors were investigated with different $Y_2O_3/Er_2O_3$ ratios. The $Y_2O_3/Er_2O_3$ mole ratio has a significant effect on nonlinear electrical properties and impulse degradation behavior of the ZPCCYE varistors. The varistors added with $Y_2O_3/Er_2O_3$ = 0.5/0.5 exhibited the best nonlinear properties with 39 in nonlinear coefficient (${\alpha}$) and the best clamp characteristics, in which the clamping voltage ratio (K) was in the range of K = 1.62-2.18 at an impulse-current of 1-50 A. The varistors added with $Y_2O_3/Er_2O_3$ = 0.25/0.5 exhibited the best electrical stability, with $%{\Delta}E_{1mA/cm^2}$=-5.6%, $%{\Delta}{\alpha}$ = 6.7%, and $%{\Delta}J_L$ = -14.6% against an impulse-current of 400 A. On the contrary, the varistors added with $Y_2O_3/Er_2O_3$ = 0.5/0.5 were destroyed applying an impulse-current of 400 A.

  • In this thesis, the microstructure and electrical properties of ZnO varistors were investigated according to ZnO varistors with various formulation. A∼E's ZnO varistor ceramics were exhibited good density, 95% of theory density and low porosity, 5%, wholly. The average grain size of A-E's ZnO varistor ceramics exhibited 11.89$\mu\textrm{m}$, 13.57$\mu\textrm{m}$, 15.44$\mu\textrm{m}$, 11.92$\mu\textrm{m}$, 12.47$\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively. Grain size of C's ZnO varistor is larger and grain size of A and D's are smaller than other varistors. In the microstructure, A∼E's ZnO varistor ceramics sintered at l130$^{\circ}C$ was consisted of ZnO grain(ZnO), spinel phase(Zn$\sub$2.33/Sb$\sub$0.67/O$_4$), Bi-rich Phase(Bi$_2$O$_3$) and inergranular phase, wholly. Reference voltage of A∼E's ZnO varistor sintered at 1130$^{\circ}C$ decreased in order D, E > A > B > C's ZnO varistors. Nonlinear exponent of varistors exhibited high characteristics, above 30, wholly. Consequently, C's ZnO varistor exhibited good nonlinear exponent, 68. Lightning impulse residual voltage of A, B, C and E's ZnO varistors suited standard characteristics, below 12kV at current of 5kA.

  • The I-V characteristics of $ZnO-Pr_6O_{11}-CoO-Dy_2O_3$ based varistors were investigated in the $Pr_6O_{11}/CoO$ composition ratio range of 0.5/0.5 to 1.0/1.0 and sintering temperature range of 1300 to $1350^{\circ}C$ as the basic study to develop the advanced $Pr_6O_{11}$-based ZnO varistors. All varistors except for $Pr_6O_{11}$/CoO = 0.5/1.0 exhibited the best I-V characteristics at $1350^{\circ}C$. However, the varistors with $Pr_6O_{11}$/CoO= 0.5/1.0 exhibited the best I-V characteristics at $1350^{\circ}C$. The varistors with $Pr_6O_{11}$/CoO= 0.5/1.0 of all varistors exhibited the best I-V characteristics, which the nonlinear exponent is 36.9 and the leakage current is 7.6 ${\mu}A$ Therefore, it was estimated that ZnO-$Pr_6O_{11}-CoO-Dy_2O_3$ ceramics with $Pr_6O_{11}$/CoO= 0.5/1.0 will be usefully used as varistor materials in the future.
