An Adaptive Equalization of Amplitude Chrominance Distortion by using the Variable Step-size Technique

  • This paper presents an adaptive equalizer using finite impulse response (FIR) filter and least-mean square (LMS) algorithm. Herein, the variable step-size technique (VSLMS) for compensating the amplitude of chrominance signal is utilized. The proposed equalizer can be enhanced and compressed the chrominance signal at color subcarrier. The LMS algorithm employed in simplicity structure but gives slow convergence speed. Thus, the variable step-size is very attractive algorithm due to its computational efficiencies and the speed of convergence is improved. In addition, experimental results are carried out by using the modulated 20T sine squared test signal. It is shown here that the adaptive equalizer can be equalized the amplitude chrominance distortion in color television transmission without relative delay distortion.

Sensitivity analysis of variable curvature friction pendulum isolator under near-fault ground motions

  • Variable Curvature Friction Pendulum (VCFP) bearing is one of the alternatives to control excessive induced responses of isolated structures subjected to near-fault ground motions. The curvature of sliding surface in this isolator is varying with displacement and its function is non-spherical. Selecting the most appropriate function for the sliding surface depends on the design objectives and ground motion characteristics. To date, few polynomial functions have been experimentally tested for VCFP however it needs comprehensive parametric study to find out which one provides the most effective behavior. Herein, seismic performance of the isolated structure mounted on VCFP is investigated with two different polynomial functions of the sliding surface (Order 4 and 6). By variation of the constants in these functions through changing design parameters, 120 cases of isolators are evaluated and the most proper function is explored to minimize floor acceleration and/or isolator displacement under different hazard levels. Beside representing the desire sliding surface with adaptive behavior, it was shown that the polynomial function with order 6 has least possible floor acceleration under seven near-field ground motions in different levels.

서번트 리더십이 창의성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 임파워먼트 매개효과 (A Study on the Impact of Servant Leadership Affecting Creativity : The Mediating Effect of Empowerment)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify not only the impact of servant leadership affecting creativity but the mediating effect of empowerment. Creativity refers to the production of novel and useful ideas by an individual or by a group of individuals working together [2]. A survey was conducted by 301 employees. This study used the structure equation model which treated the servant leadership as independent variable and creativity as criterion variables. Empowerment was supposed as mediating variable of these relationships. As a result of this study, servant leadership had positive influence on empowerment. Empowerment had positive influence on creativity. Also servant leadership had positive effect on creativity at first, but it did not have a direct effect on creativity when empowerment was considered. These mean that empowerment is complete mediation variable because servant leadership no longer affects creativity after empowerment has been considered. Several implications, limitations and directions for future research were discussed.

A Study on the Dimension of Quality Metrics for Information Systems Development and Success : An Application of Information Processing Theory

  • Information systems quality engineering is one of the most problematic areas in practice and research, and needs cooperative efforts between practice and theory [Glass, 1996]. A model for evaluating the quality of system development process and ensuing success is proposed based on information processing theory of project unit design. A nomological net among a set of quality variables is identified from prior research in the areas of organization science, software engineering, and management information systems. More specifically, system development success was modelled as a function of project complexity, system development modelling environment, user participation, project unit structure, resource availability, and the level of iterative nature of development methodology. Based on the model developed from the information processing theory of project unit design in organization science. appropriate quality metrics for each variable in the proposed model are matched. In this way, a framework of relevant systems development and success quality metrics for controlling systems development processes and ensuing success is proposed. The causal relationships among the constructs in the proposed model are proposed as future empirical research for academicians and as managerial tools for quality managers. The framework and propositions help quality manager to select more parsimonious quality metrics for controlling information systems development processes and project success in an integrated way. Also this model can be utilized for evaluating software quality assurance programmes, which are developed and marketed by many vendors.

HCM 클러스처링과 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 다중 FPNN 모델 설계와 비선형 공정으로의 응용 (Design of Multi-FPNN Model Using Clustering and Genetic Algorithms and Its Application to Nonlinear Process Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는, 최적 시스템을 위해서 FNN과 PNN에 기반을 둔 Multi-FPNN(다중 퍼지 다항식 뉴럴네트워크) 모델을 제안한다. 여기서 FNN 구조는 각각의 분리된 입력변수에 의해 분할된 퍼지 입력공간을 사용해서 설게되고, 간략 퍼지추론 방법과 오류 역전파 알고리즘을 이용한다. FNN은 더 좋은 출력성능을 얻기 위해 PNN과 결합한다. GMDH 방법에 기초한 PNN 구조의 각 노드는 1차 및 2차 고계 다항식의 두 형태를 사용하고, 그 노드의 입력의 입력은 2, 3, 4의 세 종류의 다변수 입력을 사용한다. 그리고 다중 FPNN 모델의 구조와 파라미터를 동정하기 위햐 HCM 크러스터링방법과 유전자 알고리즘을 사용한다. 여기서, 시스템을 위해 데이터 전처리 기능을 수행하는 HCM 클러스터링 방법은 입출력 공간분할에 의해 다중 FPNN 구조를 결정하기 위해 사용된다. 모델의 근사화와 일반화 능력 사이에 충분한 군형을 ?기 위해 하중계수를 가진 합성 성능지수(목적함수)를 사용한다. 데이터 개수, 비선형의 정도(입.출력 데이터 분포)에 위존하는 이 합성 목적함수의 하중계수의 선택 및 조절을 통하여 최적의 다중 FPNN모델을 설계하는 것이 유용하고 효과적임을 보인다. 본 연구는 두 개의 대표적 수치예의 도움으로 설명되고, 그 모델의 근사화 및 일만화 능력에 관련된 합성 성능 지수가 평가되고, 도한 토의된다.

  • We have developed the unconventional robot arm which is composed of the two main parts, one is a ball screw and the other is a robot arm. The dynamic systems of the robot arm and ball screw are unstable systems coupled with each other. The ball screw mechanism is unstable system but controllable system. The robot arm's dynamics is quasi stable system when ball screw's angular position is zero, else, unstable system. Our system has the duality between stability and controllability at the view point of control. This duality causes difficulty to control of the robot arm using normal control law. We have investigated the location of the characteristic roots of the dynamic equation. And we have found out that the best condition for the control of the arm is quasi stable state. In this paper, we have proposed multiple control laws which are consist of three components to guarantee the stability and controllability simultaneously. The computer simulations were carried out based on VSC about the angular position control of the robot arm, and it is confirmed that the good performances could be obtained by using new controller.

  • 고 정밀도와 고 속응성의 물류 이송을 위한 자동피킹 시스템 (Automatic Picking System; APS) 구동용 선형 유도 모터 드라이브의 설계 및 강인한 위치 제어 기법이 제안된다. 모델 불확실성에 대한 강인한 위치 제어기 설계를 위해서 적분형 가변구조 제어 기법이 고려된다. APS의 외란추력, 질량 및 마찰계수 등의 기계적 파라미터 변화는 위치 제어 성능에 직접적 영향을 주며 이러한 불확실성 하에서도 강인한 위치 응답 성능을 보유하는 위치 제어기가 설계된다. 선형 유도 모터의 모델을 위한 Simulink 라이브러리가 상태방정식으로부터 개발되며 이를 활용한 Matlab - Simulink 기반의 비교 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 방식이 강인한 위치 응답 성능을 가지며 고 정밀도와 고 속응성을 요구하는 APS에 적합함이 입증된다.

Review of seismic studies of liquid storage tanks

  • The academic research works about liquid storage tanks are reviewed for the purpose of providing valuable reference to the engineering practice on their aseismic design. A summary of the performance of tanks during past earthquakes is described in this paper. Next, the seismic response of tanks under unidirectional earthquake is reported, supplemented with the dynamic response under multidirectional motions. Then, researches on the influence of soil-structure interaction are brought out to help modify the seismic design approach of tanks in different areas with variable properties of soils. Afterwards, base isolation systems are reported to demonstrate their effectiveness for the earthquake-resistant design of liquid storage tanks. Further, researches about the liquid-structure interaction are reviewed with description of simplified models and numerical analytical methods, some of which consider the elastic effect of tank walls. Moreover, the liquid sloshing phenomenon on the hydrodynamic behaviors of tanks is presented by various algorithms including grid-based and meshfree method. And then the impact of baffles in changing the dynamic characteristics of the liquid-structure system is raised, which shows the energy dissipation by the vortex motion of liquid. In addition, uplifting effect is given to enhance the understanding on the capacity of unanchored tanks and some assessment of their development. At last, the concluding remarks and the aspects of extended research in the field of liquid storage tanks under seismic loads are provided, emphasizing the thermal stress analysis, the replaceable system for base isolation, the liquid-solid interaction and dynamic responses with stochastic excitations.

Adaptive Lattice Step-Size Algorithm for Narrowband Interference Suppression in DS/CDMA Systems

  • The presence of narrowband interference (NBI) in Direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) systems is an inevitable problem when the interference is strong enough. The improvement in the system performance employs by adaptive narrowband interference suppression techniques. Basically there have been two types of method for narrowband interference suppression estimator/subtracter approaches and transform domain approaches. In this paper the focus is on the type of estimator/subtracter approaches. However, the binary direct sequence (DS) signal, that acts as noise in the prediction process is highly non-Gaussian. The case of a Gaussian interferer with known in an autoregressive (AR) signal or a digital signal and also in a sinusoidal signal (Tone) that included in is paper. The proposed NBI suppression is presence in an adaptive IIR notch filter for lattice structure and more powerful by using a variable step-size algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly increase the convergence rate and improved system performance when compare with adaptive least mean square algorithm (LMS).

언어변수 및 계수선택방법을 이용한 퍼지제어기 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Construction method to improve the fuzzy controllers using language variable and coefficient selecting method)

  • 본 논문에서는 제산기가 제거된 싱글톤 퍼지제어기에 대한 새로운 귀속도 함수 발생기 및 계수 선택기회로를 제안함으로써 회로 구성소자를 줄일 수 있는 기법을 제안하였다. 입력 값의 범위에 따라 추론에 사용될 언어변수를 미리 결정하여 필요한 귀속도 함수만을 발생시킴으로서 보다 간략화 된 회로를 구성할 수 있으며 또한 추론의 결과에 영향을 줄 계수들을 미리 선택해 주는 계수 선택회로를 통해 전건부의 적합도가 0이 되는 모든 규칙들에 대한 연산 회로를 제거하였다. 그리고 귀속도 함수 발생기에서 발생하는 전류모드 CMOS 회로의 문제점인 팬-아웃(fan-out)수의 제한을 해결하기 위해 전압입력-전류출력의 귀속도 함수발생기를 OTA방식으로 구성하였다. 기존의 방법에 비해 블록 수와 소자수가 큰 폭으로 감소하였음을 확인하였고, 또한 전건부와 언어변수의 수가 증가할수록 더욱 효과적임을 확인하였다.
