Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods were grown on the pre-oxidized silicon substrate with the assistance of Au and the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) based on the catalysts by vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) synthesis. Two types of ZnO powder particle size, 20nm, $20{\mu}m$, were used as a source material, respectively The properties of the nanorods such as morphological characteristics, chemical composition and crystalline properties were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). The particle size of ZnO source strongly affected the growth of ZnO nanostructures as well as the crystallographic structure. All the ZnO nanostructures are hexagonal and single crystal in nature. It is found that $1030^{\circ}C$ is a suitable optimum growth temperature and 20 nm is a optimum ZnO powder particle size. Nanorods were fabricated on the FTO deposition with large electronegativity and we found that the electric potential of nanorods rises as the ratio of current rises, there is direct relationship with the catalysts, Therefore, it was considered that Sn can be the alternative material of Au in the formation of ZnO nanostructures.

Recently light emitting diodes (LEDs) have been expected as the new generation light sources because of their advantages such as small size, long lifetime and energy-saving. GaN, as a wide band gap material, is widely used as a material of LEDs and GaN nanorods are the one of the most widely investigated nanostructure which has advantages for the light extraction of LEDs and increasing the active area by making the cylindrical core-shell structure. Lately GaN nanorods are fabricated by various techniques, such as selective area growth, vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) technique. But these techniques have some disadvantages. Selective area growth technique is too complicated and expensive to grow the rods. And in the case of VLS technique, GaN nanorods are not vertically aligned well and the metal catalyst may act as the impurity. So we just tried to grow the GaN nanorods on Si substrate without catalyst to get the vertically well aligned nanorods without impurity. First we deposited the AlN buffer layer on Si substrate which shows more vertical growth mode than sapphire substrate. After the buffer growth, we flew trimethylgallium (TMGa) as the III group source and ammonia as the V group source. And during the GaN growth, we kept the ammonia flow stable and periodically changed the flow rate of TMGa to change the growth mode of the nanorods. Finally, as the optimization, we changed the various growth conditions such as the growth temperature, the working pressure, V/III ratio and the doping level. And we are still in the process to reduce the diameter of the nanorods and to extend the length of the nanorods simultaneously. In this study, we focused on the shape changing of GaN nanorods with different growth conditions. So we confirmed the shape of the nanorods by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and carried out the Photoluminescence (PL) measurement and x-ray diffraction (XRD) to examine the crystal quality difference between samples. Detailed results will be discussed.

This study validates the applicability of the CUPID code for simulating subcooled wall boiling under high-pressure conditions against number of DEBORA tests. In addition, a new numerical technique in which the interfacial momentum non-drag forces are calculated at the cell faces rather than the center is presented. This method reduced the numerical instability often triggered by calculating these terms at the cell center. Simulation results showed good agreement against the experimental data except for the bubble sizes in the bulk. Thus, a new model to calculate the Sauter mean diameter is proposed. Next, the effect of the relationship between the bubble departure diameter (Ddep) and the nucleation site density (N) on the performance of the Wall Heat Flux Partitioning (WHFP) model is investigated. Three correlations for Ddep and two for N are grouped into six combinations. Results by the different combinations show that despite the significant difference in the calculated Ddep, most combinations reasonably predict vapor distribution and liquid temperature. Analysis of the axial propagations of wall boiling parameters shows that the N term stabilizes the inconsistences in Ddep values by following a behavior reflective of Ddep to keep the total energy balance. Moreover, ratio of the heat flux components vary widely along the flow depending on the combinations. These results suggest that separate validation of Ddep correlations may be insufficient since its performance relies on the accompanying N correlations.

Carbon-dioxide capture and storage (CCS) process is consisted by capturing carbon-dioxide from large point source such as power plant and steel works, transporting and sequestrating captured $CO_2$ in a stable geological structure. During CCS process, it is inevitable of introducing impurities from combustion, capture and purification process into $CO_2$ stream. Impurities such as $SO_2$, $H_2O$, CO, $N_2$, Ar, $O_2$, $H_2$, can influence on process efficiency, capital expenditure, operation expense of CCS process. In this study, experimental apparatus is built to simulate the behavior of $CO_2$ transport under various impurity composition and process pressure condition. With this apparatus, $N_2$ impurity effect on $CO_2$ mixture transportation was experimentally evaluated. The result showed that as $N_2$ ratio increased pressure drop per mass flow and specific volume of $CO_2-N_2$ mixture also increased. In 120 and 100 bar condition the mixture was in single phase supercritical condition, and as $N_2$ ratio increased gradient of specific volume change and pressure drop per mass flow did not change largely compared to low pressure condition. In 70 bar condition the mixture phase changed from single phase liquid to single phase vapor through liquid-vapor two phase region, and it showed that the gradient of specific volume change and pressure drop per mass flow varied in each phase.

The performance characteristics of water-chilling heat pump using CO2 for the control of inverter frequency was investigated experimentally. An experimental apparatus is consisted of a compressor, a gas cooler, an expansion valve, an evaporator and a liquid receiver. All heat exchangers used in the test rig are counter flow type heat exchangers with concentric dual tubes, which are made of copper. The gas cooler and the evaporator consist of 6 and 4 straight sections respectively arranged in parallel, each has 2.4m length. The experimental results summarize as the following: for constant inlet temperature of evaporator and gas cooler, as mass flow rate, compression ratio and discharge pressure increases with the inverter frequency. And heating capacity and compressor work increases, but coefficient of performance(COP) decreases with the inverter frequency of compressor. As inlet temperature of secondary fluid in the evaporator increases from $15^{\circ}C$ to $25^{\circ}C$, compression ratio and compressor work decreases, but mass flow rate, heating capacity and COP increases with the inverter frequency of compressor. The above tendency is similar with performance variation with respect to the variation of inverter frequency in the conventional vapor compression refrigeration cycle.
This study was performed to examine the correlations among dog sperm viabilities evaluated by flow cytometry, by microscopic evaluation (ME), by carbo-xifluorescein diacetate and propidium iodide (CFDA/PI) and by hypoosmotic swelling (HOS) test. Semen were collected from 5 dogs ranging in age from 2 to 4 years. Each ejaculate was divided into 3 aliquots and different proportions of freeze-killed cells were added to each aliquot (1:0, 1:1 and 1:3). In the other experiment, semen was extended with Sweden extender containing 5% glycerol and equex STM paste, and frozen using liquid nitrogen vapor. Fresh and frozen-thawed dog sperm viability were assessed by flow cytometry using PI staining method. The accuracy of flow cytometry was evaluated by comparing with other classic assessments, microscopic evaluation, epifluorescence microscopic analysis using CFDA/PI, and HOS test. High correlations of sperm viabilities were found among flow cytometry, epifluorescence evaluation, HOS test (p<0.01) in fresh semen. Especially, sperm viability assessed by HOS test was highly correlated with viability by flow cytometry in all the ratios of live and dead spermatozoa, 1:0, 1:1 and 1:3 (p<0.01). The viability evaluated by ME were significantly correlated with that by flow cytometry in ratios of 1:0 and 1:3 (p<0.05) however, there was no significance in ratio of 1:1. The viability evaluated by C/p were highly correlated with that by flow cytometry in ratio of 1:0 and 1:1 (p<0.01) and significantly correlated in ratio of 1:3 (p<0.05). In frozen-thawed spermatozoa, the viability determined by HOS test was considerably correlated with that by flow cytometry (p<0.01). There was significant correlation between the viabilities by ME and by flow cytometry (p<0.05). But the viability evaluated by CFDA/PI was not correlated with viability by flow cytometry. The result from this study validate the use of flow cytometry as a precise method for assessing the viability of fresh and frozen-thawed dog spermatozoa.
