  • Water hammer pressure waves were measured in a simplified water piping system with and without arresters and air chambers by the operations of the solenoid valve. Experiments were performed to investigate the effects of the location of the arresters and the effects of the volume of the air chambers on maximum and minimum water hammer pressures and wave frequency for various flow rates.

  • In CNG (Compressed natural gas) fuel supply line, whose main components are receptacle and check valve are used to charge high pressure gas to the tank of NGV (Natural gas vehicle). It is reported that the seal is separated occasionally form valve seat and results in blockage of gas flow. In this paper, MARC is used to investigate the reasons of seal separation and suggest design improvements. The static gas pressure distributions acting on the seal which calculated using FLUENT are considered to investigate accurate seal deformation behaviors. Deformed seal shapes are obtained for various amounts of seal interference and its location, gas pressure distributions and Young's modulus of the rubber used. The results showed that the reasons of seal separation problems are verified theoretically, and suggested examples of new design method. Therefore the present numerical methods can be applied in designing and performance analysis of rubber seals adopted in high pressure fluid machineries.

쓰로틀 밸브의 빠른 열림 동작에 의한 내부공력소음 (Internal Aerodynamic Noise from Quick Opening Throttle Valve)

  • For many industrial problems originating from aerodynamic noise, noise prediction techniques, reliable and easy to apply, would be of great value to engineers and manufacturers. General algorithm is presented for the prediction of internal flow-induced noise from quick opening throttle valve in an automotive engine. This algorithm is based on the integral formula derived by using the General Green Function, Lighthill's acoustic analogy and Curle's extension of Lighthill's. Novel approach of this algorithm is that the integral formula is so arranged as to predict frequency-domain acoustic signal at any location in a duct by using unsteady flow data in space and time, which can be provided by the Computational Fluid Dynamics Techniques. This semi-analytic model is applied to the prediction of internal aerodynamic noise from a throttle valve in an automotive engine. The predicted noise levels from the throttle valve show good agreement with actual measurements. The results show that the dipole noise is dominant in this phenomena and the origin of noise sources is attributed to the anti-vortex lines formed in the down-stream from a throttle valve. This illustrative computation shows that the current method permits generalized predictions of flow noise generated by bluff bodies and turbulence in flow ducts.

주입 압력파의 웨이블릿 일관성 분석을 사용한 저수조-관로-밸브 시스템에서의 누수탐지모형 연구 (A scheme of leak detection model in a reservoir pipeline valve system using wavelet coherence analysis of injected pressure wave)

  • In this study, a method of leakage detection was proposed to locate leak position for a reservoir pipeline valve system using wavelet coherence analysis for an injected pressure wave. An unsteady flow analyzer handled nonlinear valve maneuver and corresponding experimental result were compared. Time series of pressure head were analyzed through wavelet coherence analysis both for no leak and leak conditions. The leak information can be obtained through either time domain reflectometry or the difference in wavelet coherence level, which provide predictions in terms of leak location. The reconstructed pressure signal facilitates the identification of leak presence comparing with existing wavelet coherence analysis.

  • 병변이 있는 판막을 대체하기 위하여 사용되는 인공판막으로는 기계식 판막, 고분자 판막 등이 있는데 고분자 판막이 기계식보다 항혈전성이 우수하므로 폴리우레탄을 이용하여 많이 연구되고 있다. 고분자 판막에는 단엽식, 삼엽식, 젤리피쉬식 등으로 제작되어 연구되고 있는데 이중 단엽식 판막은 제작이 가장 간편하고 심실내 씻김현상이 실제와 유사하며 혈류의 소용돌이 현상을 감소시킨다고 보고되고 있다. 혈압 강하를 감소시키기 위하여 고분자 판막의 두께를 얇게 할때 판막이 프레임 위 정상접촉 위치로 부터 탈구현상이 발생한다. 이것을 방지하기 위하여 2개의 지지대를 설치하여 판막의 수직변위를 최소로 하는 지지대 최적위치를 구하고, 그때 판막 끝의 수평 변위 및 판막에서의 응력분포상태를 구한 결과 최적위치는 지지대에 의해 나눠지는 3영역의 폭이 각각 6.2mm, 4.7mm, 5.1mm 일때 이고, 그때 최대 처짐이 0.19mm, 수평 최대변위가 0.047mm 이고 최대 주응력이나 등가응력의 최대치는 판막이 지지대가 접착되는 부위와 비접착 부위의 불연속점에서 발생하여 이 값들은 판막 각 영역의 폭이 커지면 증가함을 알았다.

AR 방식을 이용한 밸브바디의 나사 조립 상태 검지 (Detecting the screw-assembly state of a valve-body using the AR method)

  • 본 연구에서는 자동차 밸브 바디 (valve body) 나사의 조립 상태를 검지하고 조립 작업을 보조하기 위한 증강현실 (AR) 앱을 개발하고 테스트를 통해 유효성을 보인다. 조립할 나사의 조립 위치와 순서 및 조립 상황들을 표시하는 컨텐츠들을 생성한 후 스마트 폰 화면의 밸브 바디 영상 위에 정합하여, 조립 도중에 작업자에게 보여준다. 이를 위해, 밸브 바디의 2차원 이미지로부터 특징 데이터를 추출하고 밸브 바디의 포즈를 알아낸다. 밸브 바디 위의 각 나사들이 조립될 영역의 영상을 추출하고 주기적으로 해당 영역의 휘도를 판별하며, 밸브 바디 위의 정해진 위치에 순서에 따라 각 나사들이 조립되고 있는 지를 확인한다. 미조립 또는 조립 순서 오류 등 조립 에러가 검지되면 경고 음이 발생되어, 작업자가 스마트 폰 화면에서 즉시 조립 상태를 확인하고 에러를 처리할 수 있다. 테스트를 통해 5개 나사의 조립 상태를 검지하는데 약 65ms가 걸리고 1시간 동안 오류 없이 조립 상태가 검지되는 것을 확인했다.

상수관망의 부분적 격리를 위한 제수밸브 탐색 알고리듬 (An Algorithm for Searching On-Off Valves to Isolate a Subsystem in a Water Distribution System)

  • Concerns related to protecting, identifying, and isolating of subsystems of a water distribution network have led to the realization of the increased importance of valves in the system. The most important purpose of valves in water distribution systems is to isolate a subsystem due to breakage, maintenance activities, or contamination. A subsystem called segment is isolated by the closure of adjacent valves. Minimizing the pipe failure impact, an efficient algorithm is required to identify adjacent valves quickly. In this paper, an algorithm to identify adjacent valves to be closed to isolate a subsystem from the remainder of a network when a pipe failure is presented. The algorithm is operated on a matrix called the valve location matrix containing the information of valve locations. An application to an existing water distribution system demonstrates the developed algorithm efficiently locates the adjacent valves for the isolation of a broken pipe.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present essential numerical data of FCV(Flow rate Control Valve) which is used in a projectile ejection system for a underwater vehicle. A commercial CFD code is applied to analyze the 3 dimensional viscous compressible flow field within the FCV as four cases of opening rate, 25, 50, 75, and $100\%$. The flow coefficient of each cases are mainly calculated. And other characteristics such as the location of shock wave and total temperature distribution are also determined.

  • Micro On-Off valves are currently recognized as the core technology in the fields of the micro fluid chip fur medical applications and production lines of semi-conduct chip. Micro valves that operate by compressed air need the high-speed responsibility, repeatability, the absorbability and the uniform pressure by the poppet. In this study, Micro On-Off valves that posses the high-speed responsibility and the high rate of flow have designed and analyzed through the law of equivalent magnetic circuit and Finite Element Method (FEM) respectively. In case of poppet, Flow field characteristic was analyzed by the variation of poppet and it was able to display flow field by changing the location of the poppet. Also, we verified possibility of the design through the static and dynamic pressure and the 3D distribution curve of the force by working the front poppet.

고차압 제어 버터플라이 밸브의 오리피스 형상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Orifice Shape of High-Differential Pressure Control Butterfly Valve)

  • Butterfly valves are used in various industries to control the flow rate, flow direction, pressure, and temperature. These are gaining popularity in the field of plant industry to enable high-differential pressure because of their low maintenance costs and ease of installation. This study presents a numerical analysis method to analyze changes in the flow characteristics of a high-differential pressure control butterfly valve based on the location and shape of the orifice. The numerical analysis was conducted using a commercial CFD program. The analysis results show a correlation between the orifice shape and cavitation phenomenon.
