유한요소법을 이용한 디젤 엔진의 실린더블록-라이너-가스킷-에드 구조물에 대한 해석 (An Analysis of Diesel Engine Cylinder Block-Liner-Gasket-Head Compound by Finite Element Method)

  • This paper presents the analysis technique and procedure of main engine components-cylinder block, cylinder liners, gasket and cylinder head-using the finite element method, which aims to assess mainly the potential of lower oil consumption in a view point of engine design and to decide subsequently the accuracy of engine design which was done. The F.E. model of an engine section consisting of one whole cylinder and two adjacent half cylinders is used, whereby the crankcase is cut off at the block bottom deck. By means of a 3-dimensional F.E. model-including cylinder block, liners, gasket, cylinder head, bolts and valve seat rings as separate parts a linear analysis of deformations and stresses was performed for three different loading conditions;assembly, thermal and gas loads. For the analysis of thermal boundary conditions also the temperature field had to be evaluated in a subsequent step.

가솔린 직분식 엔진의 연소실 개발을 위한 분무 및 유동장 해석 (Analysis of Spray and Flow Fields for Development of Spark-ignited Direct Injection Engine)

  • For development of SDI(Spark-ignited Direct Injection) engine, stratified mixture formation with adequate strength at spark plug was required in wide range of engine operating conditions. So, spray structure under high ambient pressure and spray distribution after impingement on piston bowl in motoring engine was visualized by using laser equipments. Also, incylinder bulk flow structure was measured by using PIV (Paiticle Image Velocimetry) system. Counter-rotating tumble port and bowl piston was found effective to conserve bulk motion directed to spark plug in compression stroke. In addition, mask attached near valve seat in intake port was proposed to attenuate conventional tumble component and enhance counter-rotating tumble component.

양계 급수용 구면 피스톤 니플의 성능 평가 (Evaluation of Sphere Faced Type Piston Nipple for Water Feed of Poultry)

  • 양계 농장의 자동화 시설 중 닭에 물을 공급하는 자동 급수 장치는 닭 사육을 위한 가장 중요한 시설중의 하나이다. 이 장치 부품 중 급수 니플은 닭이 직접 물을 먹는 장치이며 그 내부에 체크 밸브가 있어 물 공급 시에는 열리고 물을 먹지 않을 경우는 닫히게 된다. 니플의 종류는 피스톤 니플과 볼 니플로 나누워지며 볼 니플은 니플 스틱의 운동이 자유롭게 되어 낙수의 차단이 잘되는 장점이 있으나 복잡한 구조를 갔고 있는 단점이 있다. 이에 반하여 피스톤 니플은 구조가 간단한 장점이 있는 반면에 대부분 상하운동만 가능한 단점이 있다 최근에 이를 보완하기 위하여 피스톤 니플에 밸브 시트면을 구 형태로 제작하여 피스톤 형식이면서 자유로운 운동이 가능 하도록 한 구조(이하 : 구면 피스톤 니플)가 개발 되었다. 본 실험에서는 최근 관심을 갖게된 구면 피스톤 니플에 대한 성능 평가를 수행하였으며 그 결과를 국내외 기존 제품인 볼 니플 및 피스톤 니플과 성능을 실험적으로 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 구면 피스톤 니플의 성능은 기존 피스톤 니플 보다는 좋은 결과를 얻었으며 볼 니플과는 유사한 성능임을 확인하였다.

PTA법에 의한 스텔라이트 12 합금 육성층의 특성에 미치는 전류의 영향 (The Effect of Current on Characteristics of Stellite 12 Alloy Overlayer by PTA Process)

  • Stellite 12 alloy-powders were overlaid on 410 stainless steel valve seat using plasma transferred arc(PTA) process. Variation of the microstructure, hardness, wear and corrosion of overlaid deposit with current change was investigated. The deposit showed hypoeutectic microstructure, which was consisted of primary cobalt dendrite and networked $M_7C_3$ type eutectic carbides. As current increased, the amount of eutectic carbide decreased and its dendritic secondary arm spacing increased. Hardness of the deposit was decreased with increase of current. Stress relief heat treatment at $600^{\circ}C$ for two hours resulted in slight increase of hardness in the deposit and showed uniform hardness distribution in base metal without any hardened layer in HAZ. Specific wear decreased with increase of sliding distance. The deposit of high hardness with a lot of eutectic carbide showed relatively low specific wear. Initial corrosion current density of the deposit in 0.1N sulfuric acid was lower than those of 410 stainless steel, and showed a little variation with PTA current.

  • To improve the efficiency of internal combustion engines, it is necessary to understand mixed air-fuel in-cylinder flow processes accurately at intake and compression strokes. There is experimental and numerical methods to analyse in-cylinder flow process. In numerical method, standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ model with wall function was mostly adopted in in-cylinder flow process. But this type model was not efficiently predicted in the near wall region. Therefore in the present study, low Reynolds number $k-{\varepsilon}$ model was adopted near the cylinder wall and standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ model in other region. Also QUICK scheme was used for convective difference scheme. This study takes axisymmetric reciprocating model engine motored at 200rpm with a centrally located valve, incorporated 60 degree seat angie, and flat piston surface excluding inlet port. Because in-cylinder flow processes are undergoing unsteady and compressible, averaged cylinder pressure and inlet velocity at arbitrary crank angle are determined from thermodynamic analytic method and incylinder states at that crank angle are iteratively determined from the numerical analytic method.

  • The crevice corrosion of local corrosion occur when the gap exist on metal surface. This crevice corrosion happen to region such as flange of pipe, contact part of casing, under gasket and packing, between valve disk and seat of pump etc. Especially The crevice corrosion of mild steel(SS 400) get serious. This paper was studied on the crevice corrosion of SS 400 in fluid environment. In $0\%,\;2\%,\;3.5\%,\;5\% NaCl$ solution, the aspect of the crevice corrosion and polarization behavior under the crevice corrosion was investigated. And Weight loss rate of SS 400 with crevice and non-crevice was measured according to the NaCl concentration. The main results obtained are as follows : 1) Under crevice corrosion, the corrosion potential become less noble as the concentration of NaCl solution increased. 2) The current density under open circuit potential was high drained as concentration of NaCl solution increased by $3.5\%$ but the concentration increased over $3.5\%$, the current density was low drained. 3) The weight loss rate of SS 400 was increased as concentration of NaCl solution Increased by $3.5\%$, but the concentration increased over $3.5\%$, that of SS 400 was decreased. 4) Effect of oxygen for crevice corrosion in the concentration of $3.5\%$ NaCl solution become sensitive than that $0\%$ NaCl solution.

PTA법에 의한 스텔라이트 12합금 육성층의 미세조직 및 경도에 미치는 시효처리의 영향 (The effect of aging on the Microstructure and Hardness of Stellite 12 alloy overlayer by PTA process)

  • Stellite 12 alloy-powders were overlaid on 410 stainless steel valve seat by plasma transferred arc(PTA)process. Variation of microstructure and hardness of overlaid deposit with aging time at $750^{\circ}C$ was investigated. The deposit showed hypoeutectic microstructure, which was consisting of primary cobalt dendrite and networked $M_{7}C_{3}$type eutectic carbides. After aging new M_{23}C_{6}$ carbide was formed by the partial decomposition of $M_7C_3$ type eutectic carbides and finely dispersed $M_{23}C_6$ type carbides were also precipitated in the matrix. Hardness of the deposit was increased with increase of aging time at $750^{\circ}C$ and showed maximum value at 35hours. After showing maximum value, it was fallen down again at 70hours because of overaging. The increase of hardness in aging is ascribed to the formation of new stable $M_{23}C_6$ type carbide by the partial decomposition of $M_7C_3$ type eutectic carbides and also precipitation of finely dispersed $M_{23}C_6$ carbides in matrix.

공압식 능동형 엔진마운트시스템의 최적 제어매개변수 식별 (Identification of Optimal Control Parameters for a Pneumatic Active Engine Mount System)

  • Pneumatic Active Engine Mount(PAEM) with open-loop control system has been developed to reduce the transmission of the idle-shake vibration induced by engine effectively and economically. A solenoid valve installed between PAEM and vacuum tank is on-off switched by the Pulse Width Modulate(PWM) control signal to decrease the dynamic stiffness of the engine mount. This paper presents the methodology to identify the optimal values of control parameters of a PAEM, i.e, turn-on timing and duty ratio of PWM signal for 6 different idle driving conditions. A scanning algorithm was first applied to the vehicle test to obtain the approximate optimal control parameters minimizing the vibration at front seat rail and at steering wheel. Then the PAEM system identification was fulfilled to find accurate optimal control parameters by using multi-layer neural networks of Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm with vehicle test data.

농업용 트랙터의 프론트 로더 충격 저감을 위한 유압 회로의 설계 개선 (Improved Design of Hydraulic Circuit of Front-end Loader for Bump Shock Reduction of an Agricultural Tractor)

  • A front-end loader (FEL) mounted on an agricultural tractor is one of the most commonly used implements to mechanize routine agricultural tasks. When the FEL is used with a loaded bucket, careful operation is required to maintain safety and avoid spillage when the tractor passes a bump because a change in the gravity center of the tractor due to varied loadings can affect the stability of the tractor. Use of a boom suspension system consisting of accumulators and orifice dampers can be instrumental in reducing pitching vibrations while increasing the handling performance of the FEL-mounted tractor. The objective of this research was to reduce bump shocks by adding an orifice and a flow control valve to the original hydraulic circuit composed solely of accumulators. A simulation study was performed using the SimulationX program to investigate the effects of an accumulator and an orifice-throttle damper on bump shocks. Results showed that the peak pressure on a boom cylinder and the vertical acceleration of a bucket were significantly affected by use of both an accumulator and an orifice damper. In a field test conducted with a 75-kW tractor, the peak pressure of the boom cylinder, and the root mean square (RMS) vertical acceleration of the bucket and seat were reduced by on average, 23.0, 42.2, and 44.9% respectively, as compared to those measured with the original accumulator system, showing that an improved design for the accumulator hydraulic circuit can reduce bump shocks. Further studies are needed to design a tractor suspension system that includes the effects of cabin suspension and tires as well as dynamic analysis.

  • Stellite 12 alloy-powder was overlaid on 410 stainless steel valve seat using plasma transferred arc(PTA) process. Variation of characteristic of microstructure and hardness of deposit with current(90~150 A) and preheat temperature(R.T.~$400^{\circ}C$) was investigated. Important conclusion obtained are as follows; All welding conditions used produced a sound deposit layer with no defect in single pass welding. The maximum deposit had 4.0~4.8 mm in thickness and its bead width was increased with increase of current and preheat temperature. The deposit showed hypoeutectic microstruture, which was consisting of primary cobalt dendrite and networked $M_7C_3$ type eutectic carbides. The amount of eutectic carbides was decreased and its dendritic secondary arm spacing was increased with increase of current. Hardness of the deposit was decreased with increase of current. Preheat temperature up to $400^{\circ}C$, however, showed little influence on the hardness and microstructure. The hardness was also influenced by diluted Fe content near the interface in addition to microstructure and dendritic secondary arm spacing. Hot hardness at $500^{\circ}C$ showed higher than 300 HV.
