  • In the area of fashion business, market segmentation strategy has been paid attention for the purpose of assigning proficiently marketing resources. The use of fashion information in purchase decision process can serve as a base for market segmentation strategies. The purpose of this study was to identify four segmented profiles which are labelled as Print-oriented, Audio-visual oriented, Store intensive, and Pal advice group. Objectives were to determine fashion interest, fashion attitude and apparel selection criteria from each segment. For this study, the questionnaire was adminisered to 261 teachers and data were analyzed by using ANOVA, Regression and Pearson's Correlations. The results were as follows. 1. Print-oriented group had a positive attitude about fashion and they tended to place value on aesthetic and other-oriented criteria in selecting apparel. 2. Audio-visual oriented group had a strongly positive attitude about fashion but they tended to be less active toward buying fashion products and place much more value on other-oriented criteria in selecting apparel. 3. Store intensive group tended to be active toward buying fashion products. They had a positive attitude about fashion and placed value on aesthetic criteria in selecting apparel. 4. Pal advice group had a less positive attitude about fashion and tended to place value on economical and practical criteria in selecting apparel. Based on the profile of the each segment, it was suggested to express lingual or non-lingual symbols and to create concepts for meeting the needs of the segment

  • The effect of earthquakes in earthquake resistant structure design stages is influenced by the highest ground acceleration value, which is generally a strength-based approach in seismic codes. In this context, an energy-oriented approach can be suggested as an alternative to evaluate structure demands. Contrary to the strength-based approach, the strength and displacement demands of the structure cannot be evaluated separately, but can be evaluated together. In addition, in the energy-oriented approach, not only the maximum effects of earthquakes are taken into account, but also the duration of the earthquake. In this respect, it can be said that the use of energy-oriented earthquake parameters is a more rational approach besides being an alternative. In this study, strength and energy-oriented approaches of earthquake parameters of 11 different periods of single degree of freedom systems were evaluated over 28 different earthquake situations. The energy spectra intended to be an alternative to the traditional acceleration spectra were created using the acceleration parameter equivalent to the input energy. Two new energy parameters, which take into account the effective duration of the earthquake, are proposed, and the relationship between the strength-oriented spectral acceleration parameters and the energy parameters used in the literature is examined by correlation study. According to the results obtained, it has been seen that energy oriented earthquake parameters, which give close values in similar period situations, will be a good alternative to strength oriented earthquake parameters. It was observed that the energy parameters were affected by the effective duration of the earthquake, unlike the strength-based parameters. It has been revealed that the newly proposed energy parameters considering the effective duration give good correlations. Finally, it was concluded that the energy parameters can be used in the design, and the newly proposed effective energy parameters can shorten the analysis durations.

  • This article describes 3 dimensional (3D) face recognition system using histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) based on face curvature. The surface curvatures in the face contain the most important personal feature information. In this paper, 3D face images are recognized by the face components: cheek, eyes, mouth, and nose. For the proposed approach, the first step uses the face curvatures which present the facial features for 3D face images, after normalization using the singular value decomposition (SVD). Fisherface method is then applied to each component curvature face. The reason for adapting the Fisherface method maintains the surface attribute for the face curvature, even though it can generate reduced image dimension. And histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) descriptor is one of the state-of-art methods which have been shown to significantly outperform the existing feature set for several objects detection and recognition. In the last step, the linear discriminant analysis is explained for each component. The experimental results showed that the proposed approach leads to higher detection accuracy rate than other methods.

  • Character education is an important educational purpose in the current situation of secondary mathematics education. In the current mathematics curriculum, character education is mentioned in terms of core competencies. However, it is very difficult to concretely practice character education in secondary mathematics education. This paper examines the theoretical background of character education in the tradition of mathematics education, and suggests that mathematics is regarded as a practical tradition by the nature of mathematics from a value-intrinsic perspective. In this respect, mathematics education is defined as an intrinsic and nurturing character through long history of practice. This paper searched for an integrated approach to practicing character education in of secondary mathematics education, and argued that the teacher's personal approach including the class model approach of the human factors by an example of the exponential law aman = am+n and the value-oriented activities according to the nature of the mathematics was the core.

  • This study was to examine the degree of market orientated effort by hospital type and size,. and analyzed the moderating effect of environments between market orientation and it's performance. First, there was no significant differences by hospital type, such public hospital, university hospital, and private hospital. However, the orders of market orientation implementation was university hospital. private hospital, and public hospital This finding suggest that university hospital and public hospital, should be market-oriented, or customer-oriented more now, relatively. Second, there were no significant differences in marketing as management policy by hospital types, i.e. public, university or private sector hospitals. However, as to the intensity of the implementation of the market-oriented approach, private hospitals came first, followed by the university hospitals, then the public ones. This finding suggests that university and public hospitals should be more market or customer oriented to compete in the market. Third, only the competitive environment does active moderating roll on hospital performance. The competitive environmental factor forces the organization to be more market oriented. This means the more you are positively situated in the competitive environment, the more you are looking for a market oriented approach. You become more aware of the value of customers and you become more focused on the customer satisfaction and thus become more patient oriented in every facet of decision making. And market oriented hospitals recognize the importance of utilization of high tech medical treatment skills and equipment in patient care. Fourth, according the analysis, market oriented effort gives more influence on hospital performance than the environmental factors. This means that the market oriented effort should become a culture of the hospital which seeks to out distance themselves from its competitors.

  • We examined the relationship between the extent of Facebook usage and social well-being with consideration of cyberbullying involvement using a person-oriented approach. Survey data were collected from a sample of 312 secondary students from Grades 7 and 8 in Hong Kong. Levels of cyberbullying involvement, Facebook usage and perceived social support were investigated. Participants were classified into three clusters based on the different levels of Facebook usage and cyberbullying victimization through cluster analyses (i.e., frequent Facebook user/noncyberbullied victim, frequent Facebook user/cyberbullied victim, and uninvolved). Our results showed that frequent Facebook users who are cyberbullied tend to engage in cyberbullying perpetration significantly more than the frequent Facebook users who are not cyberbullied, even when the latter reported higher Facebook usage. This result provides some support for the idea that cyberbullying victimization has additional value on top of the level of usage in explaining one's participation in cyberbullying perpetration. As expected, frequent Facebook users who were not cyberbullied reported the highest perceived social support among the three groups. What is even more interesting is the equal level of perceived social support found between the cyberbullied victims and the uninvolved. Our results suggest that, although limiting adolescents' Internet use might reduce their risks of being involved in cyberbullying, it might also take away the potential benefits they could get from interacting with the online community. Benefits of using the person-oriented approach in the study of cyberbullying are discussed.

  • Shared value enhances the competitiveness of a company while simultaneously reducing societal burdens. By allowing companies to share their resources, collaborative logistics systems provide companies with an opportunity to create shared value, namely, not only economic value by enhancing the utilization of resources, but also social value by reducing energy consumptions and greenhouse gas emissions associated with logistics and transportation. Emerging businesses, such as ES3 and Flexe, have recently demonstrated how they created shared value through collaborative logistics services, for example, ES3's collaborative warehousing and direct-to-store (D2S) program, and Flexe's on-demand warehousing platform. However, the development of collaborative logistics systems is currently at a nascent stage. There are quite a few socio-technical barriers to overcome for sharing resources (data as well as infrastructure). Drawing on the socio-technical approach, this research examines how companies create both economic and social value from collaborative logistics systems. We highlight socio-technical barriers, particularly one set of social barriers, that is, competition-oriented conservatism prevalent among companies. Using the case study methodology and interview data, we closely investigate ES3 and Flexe, which provide collaborative logistics services, and demonstrate how technical and social barriers are addressed to create shared value from collaborative logistics systems.

  • In this paper, an application-oriented approach to piercing analysis in automatic forging simulation by the rigid-viscoplastic finite element mehtod is presented. In the presented approach, the accumulated damage is traced and the piercing instant is determined when the accumulated damage reaches the critical damage value. A method of obtaining the critical damage value by comparing the tensile test result with the analysis one is given. The presented approach is verified by experiments and applied to automatic simulation of a sequence of 6-stage forging processes.
