  • Plastic molding designers are frequently faced with optimizing multiple defects in injection molded parts. these defects are usually in conflict with each other, and thus a tradeoff needs to be made reach a final compromised solution. In this study, an automated injection molding design methodology has been developed to optimize multiple defects of injection molded parts. Two features of the proposed methodology are as follows: one is to apply the utility theory to transform the original multiple objective optimization problem into single objective optimization problem with utility as objective function, the other is an implementation of a direct search-based injection molding optimization procedure with automated consideration of process variation. The modified complex method is used as a general optimization tool in this research. The developed methodology was applied to an actual molding design and the results showed that the methodology was useful through the CAE simulation using a commercial injection molding software package. Applied to production, this study will be of immense value to industry in reducing the product development time and enhancing the product quality.

  • Recently, world leading companies on manufacturing field are trying to adopt a PLM methodology, which is a new production paradigm, for a survival and strengthening the competitiveness. Some projects for a digital shipyard including a methodology of a digital simulation framework are going on by Seoul national university and Samsung heavy industry. A Database methodology for a scheduling data, an interfacing methodology for a simulation input and output, and a synchronized simulation related methodology are required for enhancing the value of the digital simulation for shipbuilding. In this paper, such a methodologies and a related case study for a fabrication factory and an assembly factory are presented.

  • In this paper, a fault determination methodology based on an artificial neural network was proposed to protect the system from faults on the lines in the smart grid distribution system. In the proposed methodology, first, it was designed to determine whether there is a low impedance line fault (LIF) based on the magnitude of the current RMS value, and if it is determined to be a normal current, it was designed to determine whether a high impedance ground fault (HIF) is present using Normal/HIF classifier based on artificial neural network. Among repetitive DSP module-based algorithm verification tests, the normal/HIF classifier recognized the current waveform as normal and did not show reclosing operation for the cases of normal state current waveform simulation test where the RMS value was smaller than the minimum operating current value. On the other hand, for the cases of LIF where RMS value is greater than the minimum operating current value, the validity of the proposed methodology could be confirmed by immediately recognizing it as a fault state and showing reclosing operation according to the prescribed procedure.

  • Many innovative management processes, which are also termed as best practices or value improving practice, have been proven to successfully improve the value of capital facility projects. With a lack of any guidance on how to implement the most suitable value management process for a particular project, the objective of this paper is to facilitate the VMP implementation. A CII (Construction Industry Institute)'s recent study, titled as 'Development of the Value Management Toolkit,' encompasses a comprehensive structure of value management and provides a new methodology in optimizing the implementation of the value management processes in order to leverage the unique project circumstances, such as project objectives, resource availability, and site limitations, etc. As a pioneering study, the findings contribute to the expedition of implementing value management processes in the industry and maximize the potential benefits in applying the most benefiical value management process for a particular capital facility project.

  • An experimental validation of a nuclear forensics methodology for the source reactor-type discrimination of separated weapons-useable plutonium is presented. The methodology uses measured values of intra-element isotope ratios of plutonium and fission product contaminants. MCNP radiation transport codes were used for various reactor core modeling and fuel burnup simulations. A reactor-dependent library of intra-element isotope ratio values as a function of burnup and time since irradiation was created from the simulation results. The experimental validation of the methodology was achieved by performing two low-burnup experimental irradiations, resulting in distinct fuel samples containing sub-milligram quantities of weapons-useable plutonium. The irradiated samples were subjected to gamma and mass spectrometry to measure several intra-element isotope ratios. For each reactor in the library, a maximum likelihood calculation was utilized to compare the measured and simulated intra-element isotope ratio values, producing a likelihood value which is proportional to the probability of observing the measured ratio values, given a particular reactor in the library. The measured intra-element isotope ratio values of both irradiated samples and its comparison with the simulation predictions using maximum likelihood analyses are presented. The analyses validate the nuclear forensics methodology developed.

  • A 17-run Box-Behnken design (BBD) was used to optimize the extraction conditions of astaxanthin from shrimp waste. Three factors such as ratio of ethanol to raw material, extraction temperature ($^{\circ}C$) and extraction time (min) were investigated. The adjusted coefficient of determination ($R^2{_{adj}}$) for the model was 0.9218, and the probability value (p=0.0003) demonstrated a high significance for the regression model. The optimum extraction conditions were found to be: optimized ratio of ethanol to raw material 29.7, extraction temperature $49.5^{\circ}C$ and extraction time 59.9 min. Under these conditions, the mean extraction yield of astaxanthin was $17.80{\mu}g/g$, which was in good agreement with the predicted model value. Under these conditions, validation experiments were done and the mean extraction yield of astaxanthin was $17.77{\mu}g/g$, which is in good agreement with the predicted model value.

  • As the market-based spectrum policy is introduced, an interest in the economic value of the frequency is increasing. Research and practical applications concerning the methodology for the estimation of the economic value of the frequency and its determinants are actively engaged, which are used for setting a reserve price and bid price of spectrum auction and a spectrum clearance cost. In this study, by the analysis of the spectrum valuation methodology, we derive the changes in the factors affecting the valuation and propose to apply improved. In the model frequency value is consist of technical value, commercial value and strategic value, we find the dynamics of fluctuation factors and suggest how to apply them to spectrum policy.

  • Change requests occur persistently in the construction phase of a construction project. The law requires that the contract amount be adjusted in accordance with the relevant regulations when there is a change in the construction amount due to the design change in the construction contract. SAVE international, on the other hand, defines the value methodology as a systematic and structured approach to improving projects, products and processes. Design Changes in the construction projects require organizational efforts to improve value and quality. However, the law does not include change requests in which the VE object is fixed and related data is collected and function analysis can be derived in a short time. Therefore, it is necessary to apply VE to the design change procedure, which can further improve the value of construction work. The application derived from this study need to be presented as simply as possible without compromising the basic concept of VE. If the application is extended to the field and proved to be effective, it is expected to contribute to the overall value of construction work.

  • Investors analyze corporate value using the methodology trying to simultaneously satisfy the profitability and stability. In this study, comparing/combining the methodology of corporate value analysis to present a method of analyzing the optimal corporate value. The results of this study can be classified into two. First, it is a model derivation for corporate value analysis. EVA, AEM, and DDM models, to analyze the results, it was look in terms of profitability and stability. EVA and AEM model was stable than the market, profitability appear high, it was suitable to assess the value of the company. However, DDM, which is more stable than the market, profitability is low, it was not suitable. Secondly, by metering the existing methodology presented a new analysis method. A result of a combination of methodology was analyzed by deformation model, "AEM + DEA" and "DDM + DEA", "AEM + EVA", it was found that it is better than the market and the traditional model. AEM and DDM modified model was also found to be better than the market and the existing methodologies. This was reflected in a situation where a change in market environment based on, for being able to present an appropriate analytical method, it can find the suggestions of the study.
