We show the existence of nontrivial solutions for some fourth order elliptic boundary value problem with fully nonlinear term. We obtain this result by approaching the variational method and using a linking theorem. We also get a uniqueness result.

In this work, we have investigated a role of linking parameter in Pulse-Coupled Neural Network(PCNN) which is suggested to explain the synchronous activities among neurons in the cat cortex. Then we have found a method to determine the linking parameter for a satisfactory face detection performance in a given color image. Face detection algorithm which uses the color information is independent on pose, size and obstruction of a face. But the use of color information encounters some problems arising from skin-tone color in the background, intensity variation within faces, and presence of random noise and so on. Depending on these conditions, PCNN's linking parameters should be selected an appropriate values. First we obtained the mean and variance of the skin-tone colors by experiments. Then, we introduced a preprocess that the pixel with a mean value of skin-tone colors has the highest level value (255) and the other pixels have values between 0 and 255 according to normal distribution with a variance. This preprocessing leads to an easy decision of the linking parameter of the Pulse-Coupled Neural Network. Through experiments, it is verified that the proposed method can improve the face detection performance compared to the existing methods.

In this paper, an improved gradient direction assisted linking algorithm is proposed. This algorithm begins with initial seeds satisfying some local criteria. Then it will search along the direction provided by the initial point. A window will be generated in the gradient direction of the current point. Instead of the conventional method which only considers the value of the local salient structure, an improved mathematical model is proposed to describe the desired linear features. This model not only considers the value of the salient structure but also the direction of it. Furthermore, the linking problem under this model can be efficiently solved by dynamic programming method. This algorithm is tested for linear features detection in IKONOS images. The result demonstrates this algorithm is quite promising.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) such as $N^{\varepsilon}$-(carboxy-methyl)lysine (CML) have been implicated in the development of diabetic nephropathy. The aim of this study was to investigate the inhibitory effects of ethanolic extract of Aster koraiensis (AKE) on AGEs formation and AGEs-collagen cross-linking in vitro and CMLs formation in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. AKE significantly inhibited AGEs formation ($IC_{50}$ value of $18.74{\mu}g/mL$) and AGEs-collagen cross-linking ($IC_{50}$ value of 0.274 mg/mL) in vitro than the well-known glycation inhibitor aminoguanidine ($IC_{50}$ value of $72.12{\mu}g/mL$ and 1.99 mg/mL, respectively). AKE (100 mg/kg per day) was given to diabetic rats for 9 weeks. In STZ-induced diabetic rats, severe hyperglycemia was developed, and urinary CMLs and plasma CMLs were markedly increased. Immunohistochemical stain revealed that CMLs were accumulated within renal glomerulus in STZ-induced diabetic rats. However, AKE significantly reduced urinary CMLs and plasma CMLs in diabetic rats. CMLs accumulation was inhibited by AKE treatment in the renal glomerulus. These results suggest that AKE had an inhibitory effect of AGE accumulation in the glomeruli of diabetic rat and could be an inhibitor of AGE-induced protein cross-linking. The oral administration of AKE may significantly help to prevent the progression of diabetic nephropathy in patients with diabetes.

본 연구에서는 아피오스로부터 전분을 추출하여 epichlorohydrin으로 가교결합을 시킨 후 가교결합 아피오스 전분의 이화학적 특성을 분석하였다. 가교결합 아피오스 전분은 치환도가 증가함에 따라 몰가교화도가 0.1225에서 3.5124로 비례적으로 증가하였으며, FT-IR을 측정한 결과, CLAP-2%는 에테르 결합으로 인하여 $1,646cm^{-1}$과 $2,930cm^{-1}$에서 피크의 강도가 강해져 가교결합 반응이 이루어졌음을 확인할 수 있었다. 천연 아피오스 전분의 X-선 회절도는 $2{\theta}$=15.1, 17.1, 17.9, $23.2^{\circ}$에서 피크가 나타나는 전형적인 A형 전분 형태를 나타내었으며, 가교결합 아피오스 전분은 가교화에 의해 회절도와 상대결정화도에 큰 변화를 보이지 않아 무결정 영역에서 가교결합 반응이 일어난 것으로 추정되었다. 아피오스 전분 입자를 SEM으로 관찰한 결과, 전분 입자는 구형 또는 타원형 모양을 나타내었으며, 가교결합 아피오스 전분은 천연 아피오스 전분과 비교하였을 때 전체적인 형태에는 변화가 없는 것이 관찰되었다. 색도는 가교결합이 진행되면서 명도와 청색도가 변화하였으며, 청가는 천연 아피오스 전분과 가교결합 아피오스 전분 사이에 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았다.

We get one theorem that there exists a unique solution for the fourth order semilinear elliptic Dirichlet boundary value problem when the number 0 and the coefficient of the semilinear part belong to the same open interval made by two successive eigenvalues of the fourth order elliptic eigenvalue problem. We prove this result by the contraction mapping principle. We also get another theorem that there exist at least two solutions when there exist n eigenvalues of the fourth order elliptic eigenvalue problem between the coefficient of the semilinear part and the number 0. We prove this result by the critical point theory and the variation of linking method.

본 연구는 황과 가교 촉진제의 함량이 달리 적용된 acrylonitrile styrene-butadiene rubber (AN-SBR)/silica 컴파운드가 타이어 트레드 컴파운드의 특성에 미치는 영향에 대해 연구하였다. 실험 결과, 가교제 및 가교촉진제의 함량이 증가할수록 가교 반응성이 증대되어 가교속도 및 컴파운드의 가교도가 상승하였다. 또한 내마모 특성 뿐만 아니라 경도, 모듈러스와 같은 컴파운드의 기계적 특성은 높은 가교도에 기인하여 향상되었다. 동적 점탄 특성에서는 가교도의 증가와 함께 유리전이온도 ($T_g$)가 상승하여 $0^{\circ}C$ 영역에서의 tan ${\delta}$ 값이 향상되었고, $60^{\circ}C$ 영역에서의 tan ${\delta}$ 값이 감소되었다. 초기 가교 속도 ($t_1$)는 $60^{\circ}C$의 tan ${\delta}$ 값과 선형적인 관계를 나타내었다. 이는 가교제의 증량으로 초기 가교 속도 ($t_1$)가 빨라져 조기에 가교가 시작됨으로써 filler network 의 발달을 억제시킨 결과에 따른 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 결과는 AFM (atomic force microscopy)을 통하여 열처리된 컴파운드의 표면 관찰에서도 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서, 빠른 초기 가황 반응에 기인한 실리카의 re-agglomeration 감소는 $60^{\circ}C$에서의 tan ${\delta}$를 결정하는 매우 중요한 변수임을 알 수 있다.

한 기관이 디지털 아카이빙을 도입하기 위해서는 경제성 분석이 선행되어야 한다. 기존의 경제성 분석은 유형적 편익만을 고려하여 무형적 편익은 간과되어 왔으나, 디지털 아카이빙의 무형적 가치를 반영하여 분석하는 모형이 필요하다. 본 연구는 정보경제학 측면의 가치사슬 개념을 적용하여 종합적인 경제성 분석 모형을 제시하였다. 가치가속과 가치연결 개념을 도입하여 디지털 아카이빙의 경제성을 사례분석하구 요인 비교 분석을 통하여 경제성의 요인들을 추출하였다. 연구결과는 국내 기관들에게 디지털 아카이빙의 도입이 업무의 효율성 향상에 기여한다는 인식을 확산시킬 것으로 기대된다.

We show the existence of at least two nontrivial solutions for a class of the systems of the nonlinear elliptic equations with Dirichlet boundary condition under some conditions for the nonlinear term. We obtain this result by using the variational linking theory in the critical point theory.
