평면 곡선에 기반한 다중 임계값 결정 (Multi-thresholds Selection Based on Plane Curves)

  • Boukharouba 등에 의해서 제안된 평면 곡선(Plane curve) 분석 기법은 히스토그램 누적분포함수에 기반한 마루-골(Peak-Valley) 탐색을 통한 임계값 결정 기법이다. 그러나 이 기법의 경우 평면 곡선을 구성하는 과정에서 외부 변수의 설정이 요구되며, 그에 따라서 구성된 평면 곡선의 형태가 달라지고 마루-골 검출에 영향 준다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 엔트로피에 기반하여 평면 곡선 구성을 구성하기 위한 최적의 변수값을 설정하며, 설정된 변수 값에 기반한 다중 임계값 결정기법을 제안한다. 다수 영상에 대한 모의실험과 기존 히스토그램 기반의 임계값 결정법과의 비교 및 검토를 통해 제안한 기법의 효용성을 보인다.

동강의 하천 퇴적물의 입자 특성 및 암석의 반발 강도 특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of River Sediments and the Rebound Strength of Rock and Sediment in Dong River)

  • The grain size characteristics of river sediments and the characteristics of bedrock were investigated for the 24km section of the Dong River upstream of the Han River. The bedrock of the study area is various limestone belonging to the Paleozoic Choseon limestone group, and Mesozoic sandstone and conglomerate occur in some areas. Most of the river channel is made of limestone, and most of the river bottom is covered with fluvial sediments. More than 70% of these sediments are sandstone and conglomerate, rather than limestone which forms the basis of the valley. Sediment particles seem to have been supplied upstream of the study area rather supplied from the slope near of the channel. It is difficult to find the statistically significant difference in the shape of the sediment particles of limestones and non-limestones. However, limestones has platy forms rather than block forms, it can be assumed that the limestone was supplied from the surrounding valley wall and transported over a short distance. The particle sizes of DG1~DG2(the upstream section) are decreasing in the downstream direction. However, at DG3, which is a tributary, Jijangcheon, confluence particle size increases and at DG4 particle size increases more. In the case of DG4, it may be influenced by the influx of tributaries, but it also can be supposed as the impact of the large flood in 2002. In the downstream parts(DG5~DG7), the particle size decreases exponentially with distance. The rebound strength of stream sediments and bedrock was measured by using Schmidt hammer. Limestone showed lower rebound strength than non-limestone. According to the results of the sediment and bedrock, it can be seen that the sandstone and conglomerate with high rebound values pass through valley with the relatively low strength limestone. The sediments of limestone were decreased in grain size more rapidly than those of limestone sediments.

Spatial Pattern of Larix gmelini in a Spruce-fir Valley Forest of Xiaoxing'an Mountains, China

  • On the basis of vegetation data in the 9.12 ha (380 m ${\times}$ 240 m) permanent sample plot of the spruce-fir valley forest in Liangshui National Reserve of Xiaoxing'an Mountains, the study was conducted to evaluate spatial distribution pattern and spatial association by using point pattern analysis for living and dead trees of Larix gmelini by DBH size class. The number of L. gmelini were counted as 59 living stems/ha (6.42 $m^2$/ha of basal area) and 34 dead stems/ha (2.86 $m^2$/ha of basal area). The distributional curve of diameter class exhibited bimodal shape. The analysis of spatial distribution patterns of all living larch stems noted the clumped distribution on the whole. The size of larch aggregates of dead stems was decreased as diameter class was increased. The distribution of dead stems became gradually randomized with decreased clumped size as the scale increased. Living stems and dead stems of the larch had positive spatial association at most of scales, illustrating that the occurrence of mortality of the larch tree was closely related to the distribution pattern of living larch trees.

화상분석기와 CLSM을 이용한 침.활엽수 섬유의 배합비에 따른 인쇄화상 분석 (Analysis of Printed Image Depending on Mixing Ratios of Softwood and Hardwood fibers Using Image Analyzer and CLSM)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze how the fiber properties and mixing ratio of softwood and hardwood pulp affect on roundness of printed image. Softwood pulp and hardwood pulp were refined to 400 and 600ml CSF by Valley beater and handsheets of 70 g/$m^2$ basis weight were made at different mixing ratios of hardwood and softwood pulp. The roundness, dot area, and shape of the printed dot were measured by Image Analyzer. The depths and shapes of the acridine orange penetration into paper were measured by CLSM. With higher mixing ratio of hardwood pulp, the paper showed higher air-permeability and better formation, especially at lower freeness. The roundness of the printed image became better and the dot size became smaller when the amount of hardwood pulp increased. Penetration depth of acridine orange by CLSM became greater and roundness increased to real circle when the amount of hardwood pulp increased. It was thought that higher mixing ratio of hardwood fibers resulted in efficient penetration by better formation with uniform micro-pore distribution and it increased roundness. It was thought that fiber properties and mixing ratio affected the structure of paper and the shape of the printed dot. This study showed that the measurement of depth of the liquid penetration into paper without destruction and contact was feasible. Moreover, this method showed that the shape of the liquid penetration was measurable.

  • A numerical investigation for the flow, heat and mass transfer characteristics of the grooved evaporating tube with the films flowing down on both the inside and outside tube walls has been carried out. The condensation occurs along the outside wall while the evaporation takes place at the free surface of the inside film. The 3-D transport equations for momentum and energy are solved by using the FVM(Finite Volume Method). The free surface shape is tracked by the moving grid technique satisfying the SCL(Space Conservation Rule). Due to the secondary motion of the fluid, the film thins at the crest, while thickens at the valley. The velocity and temperature fields as well as the amounts of the condensed and evaporated mass have been successfully predicted for various operating conditions and groove shapes.

  • The recent summer power peak crisis has been caused by excessive use of cooling loads at daily peak time in summer. The yearly load shape of KEPCO has gradually became very steep valley. Under this situation, more efficient DSM(Demand Side Management) tools are fully required for summer peak clipping and shaving. In this paper, the KEPCO's Jeju-Do model project for DSM, especially for Demand Controller, is presented. Demand Controller was evaluated to have the very high economical efficiency against the investment in equipment, as compared with another DSM tools. There were some serious problem to apply Demand Controller to many customers in the aspect to synchronization with KEPCO's watthour meter. But these problems have solved by Keyin's new Demand Controller using vision algorithm.

Awareness of Breast Cancer Warning Signs and Screening Methods among Female Residents of Pokhara Valley, Nepal

  • Background: Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in the world and by far the most frequent cancer among women. Objective: The present study was undertaken to assess the awareness of breast cancer warning signs and screening methods among the women of Pokhara valley, Nepal. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was carried out in a community setting with the female population. The questionnaire was administered in face-to-face interviews by trained research assistants. Results: Nepalese women demonstrated poor awareness of warning signs like a breast lump, lump under the armpit, bleeding or discharge from the nipple, pulling of the nipple, changes in the position of the nipple, nipple rash, redness of the breast skin, changes in the size of the breast or nipple, changes in the shape of the breast or nipple, pain in the breast or armpit, and dimpling of the breast skin. While 100% of nurses were aware about breast self-examination(BSE), mammography and warning signs of breast cancer. Levels of knowledge were significantly poorer in women with other occupations. Graduates were more aware about BSE, mammogram and warning signs of breast cancer compared to those with other educational levels. Conclusions: The findings indicated that the level of awareness of breast cancer, including knowledge of warning signs and BSE, is sub-optimal among Nepalese women.

한반도 바람자원의 시공간적 분포 (Spatial and temporal distribution of Wind Resources over Korea)

  • In this study, we analyzed the spatial and temporal distribution of wind resources over Korea based on hourly observational data recorded over a period of 5 years from 457 stations belonging to Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). The surface and 850 hPa wind data obtained from the Korea Local Analysis and Prediction System (KLAPS) and the Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System (RDAPS) over a period of 1 year are used as supplementary data sources. Wind speed is generally high over seashores, mountains, and islands. In 62 (13.5%) stations, mean wind speeds for 5 years are greater than $3ms^{-1}$. The effects of seasonal wind, land-sea breeze, and mountain-valley winds on wind resources over Korea are evaluated as follows: First, wind is weak during summer, particularly over the Sobaek Mountains. However, over the coastal region of the Gyeongnam-province, strong southwesterly winds are observed during summer owing to monsoon currents. Second, the wind speed decreases during night-time, particularly over the west coast, where the direction of the land breeze is opposite to that of the large-scale westerlies. Third, winds are not always strong over seashores and highly elevated areas. The wind speed is weaker over the seashore of the Gyeonggi-province than over the other seashores. High wind speed has been observed only at 5 stations out of the 22 high-altitude stations. Detailed information on the wind resources conditions at the 21 stations (15 inland stations and 6 island stations) with high wind speed in Korea, such as the mean wind speed, frequency of wind speed available (WSA) for electricity generation, shape and scale parameters of Weibull distribution, constancy of wind direction, and wind power density (WPD), have also been provided. Among total stations in Korea, the best possible wind resources for electricity generation are available at Gosan in Jeju Island (mean wind speed: $7.77ms^{-1}$, WSA: 92.6%, WPD: $683.9Wm^{-2}$) and at Mt. Gudeok in Busan (mean wind speed: $5.66ms^{-1}$, WSA: 91.0%, WPD: $215.7Wm^{-2}$).

복잡한 물체의 기술을 위한 원뿔 표면의 분류 및 임계치 선정 (Cone Surface Classification and Threshold Value Selection for Description of Complex Objects)

  • 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 시각에서 가장 중요한 과제의 하나인 ,3차원 물체의 표현에 대해 원뿔형태의 기술과 표면 분류시 임계치를 자동으로 선정하는 방법에 대해 제안하고자 한다. 기존에 미분기하학에서 사용한 평균 곡률 (H)과 가우스 곡률(K)은 물체의 상당 부분을 차지하고 있는 원뿔표면에 대한 분류가 불가능하였다. 또한 평균 곡률과 가우스 곡률의 부호값에 따른 표면 분류가 실제 거리 영상에 적용시 올바로 분류가 안 되는 문제를 가지고 있었다. 이 논문에서는 기존의 이 같은 두 가지 문제를 해결하기 위해 리지와 벨리의 표면분류로부터 원뿔표면 형태(cone ridge, cone valley)를 분류해 내었다. 즉, 원뿔표면 형태의 경우 H의 값이 일정하고, 원뿔표면 형태의 경우는 H의 값이 다름을 이용하여 원뿔표면 형태를 분류하였다. 아울러 통계적인 관점에서 표면분류 임계치를 선정할 수 있는 방법을 제안하고 실험에 의해 제안한 방법의 유용성을 입증하고자 한다.

폐쇄집수역의 냉기호 모의를 통한 일 최저기온 분포 추정 (A Quantification Method for the Cold Pool Effect on Nocturnal Temperature in a Closed Catchment)

  • 본 연구에서는 폐쇄집수역의 냉기호 현상을 기존의 냉기집적효과와 연계하여 일 최저기온 분포를 모의할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 집수역 내 찬 공기가 담길 '그릇'의 용적을 계산하고 '그릇'안에 집적되는 냉기량을 고도에 따라 표현하였다. 기존의 계곡지형 냉기류에 냉기호를 합산하여 냉기집적으로 인한 기온하강분을 계산하였다. 이때 냉기호의 '수면'은 일교차 조건에 따라 변화시켰다. 이 방법을 검증하기 위해 경남 하동군 악양계곡의 200m 이하 냉기호 형성지역에 기상관측기 10대에서 1분 단위로 기온을 측정하였다. 5월 17일 새벽에는 형제봉 정상에서 적외선 영상 복사계로 지면온도분포를 획득하였다. 개선된 소기후 모형을 적용하여 0530 LST의 기온 분포를 30m 해상도로 추정한 결과 그 양상이 적외선 열영상 분포와 유사하였다. 10개 기상관측지점에 해당하는 격자의 기온추정값을 추출하여 실측값과 비교한 결과, MAE는 1.01에서 0.60으로, RMSE 1.30에서 0.71으로 감소하여 집수역 출구에 가까운 저지대 평야부분에서 발생하는 기존 방법에 의한 오차가 개선되었다.
