In this paper, we present the gouging and collision-free tool-path generation for manufacturing model propellers using the 5-axis NC machine. Because it takes much time to generate tool-paths when we use general purpose CAD/CAM systems, a specific system would be necessary for marine propellers. Overall manufacturing process is composed of two steps: roughcut and finishcut steps. The roughcut is conducted using only 3-axis for efficient machining and the finishcut is done using 5-axis for avoiding collision. The tool-path that might happen to gouging is searched and the tool position is also decided for avoiding interference between the tool and the propeller blades. The present algorithm is applied extensively to the surface piercing propellers. Some results are demonstrated for its validation.
ESTin is an easy-to-use tool that allows EST researchers to build a dbEST submission file with EST sequences and related data. The advantages of ESTin are its user-friendly interface, various editing functions, and rigorous validation function.
Cryptographic algorithm testing is performed to ensure that a specific algorithm implementation is implemented correctly and functions correctly. CMVP(Cryptographic Module Validation Program) of NIST in US is the well-known testing system that validates cryptographic modules to Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). There is no FIPS-approved stream cipher, and CMVP doesn't involve its validation testing procedure. In this paper we provide validation systems for three currently used light-weight stream ciphers: Bluetooth encryption algorithm E0, 3GPP encryption algorithm A5/3, and RC4 used for WEP and SSL/TLS Protocols. Moreover we describe our validation tools implemented by JAVA programing.
The quality of biopharmaceutical proteins is strongly affected by a manufacturing process employed to produce Et, and thus validation of the manufacturing bioprocess is a very important issue. Chromatography is probably the most widely used bioprocess unit operation for protein purification. In this study, a miniaturized automatic chromatography system was designed and constructed for scale-down studies for process chromatography validation. This system, named MiniValChrom, has the following features: automatic and repeated operation, flexible sequences and intervals among the steps, on-line and real-time monitoring and control, method files savings, etc. Using the MiniValChrom, we peformed a case study of an abbreviated experiment to estimate chromatographic resin lifetime. BSA (bovine serum albumin) and Cibacron Blue 3G-A were used as the model protein and the resin, respectively. The resin deterioration was evaluated by determining and monitoring the HETP and NTP values from the chromatograms every 5 cycles. It was observed that the HETP and the NTP values were changed by 9% after 15 cycles. The resin lifetime validation could be completed by repeating this experiment until the HETP value reached a predetermined value. The MiniValChrom's concept and the protocol suggested in this study can serve as a rapid and economical tool for the validation studies of bioprocess chromatography system.

This study is a design and development study that developed instructional strategies based on distributed cognitive theory for science classes using technology according to procedures that ensured reliability and validity. To develop instructional strategies, development study and validation study were conducted according to design and development research methodology procedures. In the development study, an initial instructional strategy was developed through prior literature review and prior expert review. In the validation study, the instructional strategy was validated using internal validation (expert validation, usability evaluation) and external validation (field application evaluation) methods, and the final instructional strategy was developed. The final instructional strategy consisted of 3 instructional principles, 9 instructional strategies, and 38 detailed guidelines. Through this study, the researcher suggested the suitability of instructional strategies for science classes using technology, the usefulness of blocks and teaching and learning processes, the possibility of using technology as a cognitive tool, the need for teachers' efforts to cultivate teaching capabilities using technology, and the needs lesson plan that takes into account conditions affecting the application of instructional strategies.

The objective of this study was to evaluate of the Tank model in simulating runoff discharge from rural watershed in comparison to the SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model. The model parameters of SWAT was calibrated by the shuffled complex evolution-university Arizona (SCE-UA) method while Tank model was calibrated by genetic algorithm (GA) and validated. Four dam watersheds were selected as the study areas. Hydrological data of the Water Management Information System (WAMIS) and geological data were used as an input data for the model simulation. Runoff data were used for the model calibration and validation. The determination coefficient ($R^2$), root mean square error (RMSE), Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency index (NSE) were used to evaluate the model performances. The result indicated that both SWAT model and Tank model simulated runoff reasonably during calibration and validation period. For annual runoff, the Tank model tended to overestimate, especially for small runoff (< 0.2 mm) whereas SWAT model underestimate runoff as compared to observed data. The statistics indicated that the Tank model simulated runoff more accurately than the SWAT model. Therefore the Tank model could be a good tool for runoff simulation considering its ease of use.
In literature, several strong designated verifier signature (SDVS) schemes have been devised using elliptic curve bilinear pairing and map-topoint (MTP) hash function. The bilinear pairing requires a super-singular elliptic curve group having large number of elements and the relative computation cost of it is approximately two to three times higher than that of elliptic curve point multiplication, which indicates that bilinear pairing is an expensive operation. Moreover, the MTP function, which maps a user identity into an elliptic curve point, is more expensive than an elliptic curve scalar point multiplication. Hence, the SDVS schemes from bilinear pairing and MTP hash function are not efficient in real environments. Thus, a cost-efficient SDVS scheme using elliptic curve cryptography with pairingfree operation is proposed in this paper that instead of MTP hash function uses a general cryptographic hash function. The security analysis shows that our scheme is secure in the random oracle model with the hardness assumption of CDH problem. In addition, the formal security validation of the proposed scheme is done using AVISPA tool (Automated Validation of Internet Security Protocols and Applications) that demonstrated that our scheme is unforgeable against passive and active attacks. Our scheme also satisfies the different properties of an SDVS scheme including strongness, source hiding, non-transferability and unforgeability. The comparison of our scheme with others are given, which shows that it outperforms in terms of security, computation cost and bandwidth requirement.
Transcript profiling is a particularly valuable tool in the field of steroid receptor biology, as these receptors are ligand-activated transcription factors and therefore exert their initial effects through altering gene expression in responsive cells. Also, an awareness of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and their potential screening methods to identify endocrine activity have been increased. Here we developed an in-house cDNA microarray, named KISTCHIP-400 ver. 1.0, with 416 clones, based on public database and research papers. These clones contained estrogen, androgen, thyroid hormone & receptors, sex hormone signal transduction & regulation, c-fos, c-myc, ps2 gene, metabolism related genes etc. Also, to validate the KISTCHIP-400 ver. 1.0, we investigated gene expression profiles with reference hormones, $10^{8}\;M\;17{\beta}-estradiol,\;10^{-7}\;M\;testosterone\;and\;10^{-7}\;M$ progesterone in MCF-7 cell line. As the results, gene expression profiles of three reference hormones were distinguished from each other with significant and identified 33 $17{\beta}-estradiol$ responsive genes. This study is in first step of validation for KISTCHIP-400 ver. 1.0, as following step transcriptional profile analysis on not only low concentrations of EDCs but suspected EDCs using KISTCHIP-400 ver. 1.0 is processing. Our results indicate that the developed microarray may be a useful laboratory tool for screening EDCs and elucidating endocrine disrupting mechanism.

Transcript profiling is a particularly valuable tool in the field of steroid receptor biology, as these receptors are ligand-activated transcription factors and therefore exert their initial effects through altering gene expression in responsive cells. Also, an increased awareness of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EBCs) and their potential to affect wildlife and humans has produced a demand for practical screening methods to identify endocrine activity. Here we developed an in-house cDNA microarray, named KISTCHIP-400, with 401 clones, hormone related genes, factors, and ESTs, based on public database and research papers. Theses clones contained estrogen, androgen, thyroid hormone St receptors, sex hormone signal transduction & regulation, c-fos, c-myc, ps2 gene, metabolism related genes etc. And to validate the KISTCHIP-400, we investigated gene expression profiles with reference hormones, 10$\^$-8/ M 17be1a-estradiol, 10$\^$-7/ M testosterone, 10$\^$-7/ M progesterone, and thyroxin in MCF-7 cell line. Although it is in first step of validation, low doses and combinations of EDCs need to be tested. Our preliminary results that indicate the developed microarray may be a useful laboratory tool for screening EDCs and elucidating endocrine disrupting mechanism.

Applicability of 8 day interval flow data for the calibration of hydrologic model was evaluated using Hydrological Simulation Program-Fortran (HSPF) at Kyungan watershed. The 8 day interval flow monitored by Ministry of Environment located at upstream was calibrated and periodically validated during 2004-2008. And continuous daily flow monitored by Ministry of Construction & Transportation (MOCT) and located at the mouth was compared with daily simulated data during 2004-2007 as spatial validation. Automatic calibration tool which is Model-Independent Parameter Estimation & Uncertainty Analysis (PEST) was applied for HSPF calibration procedure. The model efficiencies for calibration and periodic validation were 0.63 and 0.88, and model performances were fair and very good, respectively, based on criteria of calibration tolerances. Continuous daily stream flow at the mouth of Kyungan watershed were good agreement with observed continuous daily stream flow with showing 0.63 NS value. The PEST program is very useful tool for HSPF hydrologic calibration using non-continuous daily stream flow as well as continuous daily stream flow. The 8 day interval flow data monitored by MOE could be used to calibrate hydrologic model if the continuous daily stream flow is unavailable.
