  • The current study aimed to develop the design principles for maker programs using virtual reality and apply them in developing a simulation mobile application. First, through collecting and analyzing the relevant studies and cases eight design principles with four components were derived. Then, these initial design components and principles were revised and improved in accordance with evaluations of an expert panel composed of three professors/researchers, two teachers, and two IT industrial experts. Based on the revised design principles, a VR simulation app for maker education was developed and evaluated on whether the principles were properly applied to the app development by the expert panel. The finalized eight design principles, as a research outcome, can contribute to the design and development of various types of educational programs that can replace the actual making experience even in educational fields where it is difficult to build maker spaces or provide materials and equipment. In the near future, empirical studies are expected to develop customized maker programs considering the characteristics, levels, and needs of students and verify their educational effectiveness.

  • As digital systems were introduced to automotive design in the mid 1980s, the design process has adopted many digital programs to save time compared to the conventional hand drafting. Digital technology was introduced not only to satisfy the reeds of the global environment, as the number of automobiles exported to many different parts of the world has increased, but also to save time and effort in developing several models of quality automobiles. Therefore, every automotive manufacturer in the world has expanded its virtual reality(VR) studio to establish visualization systems that visualize automobiles in the actual size and a co-operation system that enables simultaneous feedback from all of its design studios around the world. Unlike the existing design reviewing methos, the new improved feedback system is assessed as a reasonable method to evaluates and understand how the automobiles are actually manufactured in simulation. It is especially helpful when advanced products and concept cars require fast results. Other strengths of the new system include shorter development period, cost efficiency, no more manual labor, various designs within a short period of time, and realistic visualization of concepts. Large-scale products, including automobiles, need to be projected in the actual size and high clarity through the Power-wall System and are examined in a virtual space called a Cave. Therefore, it took much time to establish digital infrastructure. An infrastructure would constantly require system improvement and performance enhancement, but it is certain that now is the right time for the take-off to utilizing the strengths of digital design and improve the weaknesses. In this respect, this study provided an understanding of the importance of digital design based on digital reinforcements and examined an effective utilization of digital technology for an efficient development of automobiles in the future.

  • Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) differ fundamentally, with AR overlaying computer-generated information onto the real world in a nonimmersive way. Despite extensive research on cybersickness in VR, its occurrence in AR has received less attention (Vovk et al., 2018). This study examines cybersickness and discomfort associated with AR usage, focusing on the impact of content intensity and exposure time. Participants viewed 30-minute racing simulation game clips through AR equipment, varying in racing speed to alter content intensity. Cybersickness was assessed subjectively using the Simulator sickness questionnaire (SSQ; Kennedy et al., 1993). Findings revealed a progressive increase in cybersickness with longer exposure, persisting even after removing the AR equipment. Contrarily, content intensity did not significantly influence cybersickness levels. Analysis of the SSQ subscales revealed higher oculomotor (O) scores compared to nausea (N) and disorientation (D), suggesting that discomfort primarily stemmed from oculomotor strain. The study highlights distinct differences in user experience between AR and VR, specifically in subjective responses.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop realistic painting simulation in real-time as well as to represent the thickness of the deposited paint on the surface. The Gaussian model is used for a painting deposition model to calculate the thickness of paints. For a painting simulation, rather than implementing particle systems, we propose a new heuristic algorithm for painting process based on a few number of rays. After we find the collision points of the rays with an environment, we compute the painted area using flood-fill searching method on the texture map and visualize paint effects. We analyzed time complexity of our method to verify that our system is suitable for real-time VR applications.

  • As digital broadcasting process and information compressing technologies developed, digital technologies have been used extensively in many visual media such as movies and TV programs, and it is required to develop a new process for 3 dimensional digital programs. The study attempts to develop a new digital video-producing process through pre-simulation using a digital storytelling method, in order to increase the quality of broadcasting, reducing the producing time and improve efficiency. This system, supposed to be used to produce actual broadcasting, includes all tools needed for broadcasting in the program, so users can select an appropriate set among the pre-made library, which saves time for making sets. Also, it offers a storyboard making function by perfectly representing the functions of a virtual camera, and enables users to make the better storyboard, checking the real time movies. In addition, it recognizes objects though avatars, organizes the appropriate set for these avatars to act, and embodies a variety of avatar movements through which it reaffirms the camera's position and organization, minimizing errors and saving time and budget.

We make a certain definite possibilities by the functional, material, scientific and conceptual space comparison approved with existing visual space about the function of sound and visual system & the application of the mechanical system. Symbol and Expression Media are showing characteristics more than a tool in Modern times being changed from materialistic world to immaterial one. Especially, Augmented Reality, which is the new technology showing human beings real world and virtual world simultaneously recently and being exceeded to existent many limits, is going ahead. Simulation space is the technology one which can be applied to various fields such as culture, industry and education etc., and it helps human beings to overcome their limitations. The gains from this study are the specified and detailed yardsticks and cases of Simulation(space) facilities classified as a specific space. Therefore, the space mainly consists of the parts on size, equipment, and material etc. judging from technical point of view. Architectural Space, especially, should be considered very importantly in the middle of the transition from image realization to experience. The comprehension on various contents together with mechanical facilities will be requested to the connection applied to physical space expression, and that is what we have to study continuously afterward.

  • The augmented visualization of analysis results can play an import role as a post-processing tool for the modeling & simulation (M&S) technology. In particular, it is essential to develop such an M&S tool which can run on various multi-devices. This paper presents an augmented reality (AR) approach to visualizing and interacting with M&S post-processing results through mobile devices. The proposed approach imports M&S data, extracts analysis information, and converts the extracted information into the one used for AR-based visualization. Finally, the result can be displayed on the mobile device through an AR marker tracking and a shader-based realistic rendering. In particular, the proposed method can superimpose AR-based realistic scenes onto physical objects such as 3D printing-based physical prototypes in a seamless manner, which can provide more immersive visualization and natural interaction of M&S results than conventional VR or AR-based approaches. A user study has been performed to analyze the qualitative usability. Implementation results will also be given to show the advantage and effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • Virtual reality(VR) is the technology that makes a user regard being in virtual space generated by computer as in the real world. Mainly, it has been studied about the three senses which are the sense of vision, touch and hearing in the five human senses. Through that, it is applied to the system making all the senses in the human body real. Even though the design idea of theater is brought to that of simulation theater, there are not many similarities between them and not general design rules yet. For making a better situation, in cooperation with a domestic company making a motion simulator for one or two person by itself, I have considered the minimum conditions and formations of the simulation theater being widely useful in the buildings of general commercial spaces from the environmental viewpoint, and basing on that facts I try to make some sorts of fundamental design types so that they are more available than those in the past. In this research, I have set the three types of simulation theater, the 50 seats of motion simulator for one person, the 20 seats of motion simulator and the 50 seats for two persons, in my researching range. Moreover, regarding the size of the simulation theater, I put the best specifications in order and also put them together, and then with making standards able to be reflected on the design plan, I have researched it for the purpose of the accumulation of skill in the construction of the special theater. Here, the design rule I suggested might be a design standard that it will be thought useful widely.
