  • Currently, Virtual Reality video content is rapidly increasing in number of users due to the rapid growth of related hardware and software. Accordingly, Virtual Reality animation is also being produced in a new form by rapidly integrating with Virtual Reality technology among video contents. Currently, research on Virtual Reality animation has focused on how films are produced and how they are directed, and no research has been done to organize the pipeline for efficient VR animation production. Therefore, this study drew the characteristics of the pre-render VR animation pipeline by comparing it with the production pipeline of the existing 3D animation to produce the VR animation efficiently. Through this, we presented organic integration of production and post production processes suitable for the production of VR animations and reduced rendering time using Render Pass for efficient production.

  • In recent years, we have witnessed a growing popularity of virtual reality (VR) technology. Understanding the factors that contribute to a comfortable VR viewing experience is crucial for its successful implementation. This study specifically explored the role of gender in determining the ideal viewing distance for VR animation. To do so, we enlisted 100 participants, comprising 41 males and 59 females, and had them engage in a VR animation viewing task, during which we recorded their preferred viewing distances. Our findings revealed that there was no significant distinction between males and females regarding their favored VR animation viewing distances. These results suggest that when creating VR content, gender may not be a noteworthy factor to take into account when determining the optimal viewing distances for a comfortable experience.

  • With the development of science and technology, virtual reality (VR) has become increasingly popular, being widely used in various fields such as aviation, education, medical science, culture, art, and entertainment. This technology with great potential has changed the way of human-computer interaction and the way people live and entertain. In the field of animation, virtual reality also brings a new viewing form and immersive experience. The paper demonstrates the production of VR animation and then discusses camera's position in VR animation. Where to place the VR camera to bring a comfortable viewing experience. The paper, with the proxemics as its theoretical framework, proposes the hypothesis about the camera position. Then the hypothesis is verified by a series of experiments in animation to discuss the correlation between camera position and proxemics theory.

  • Rather than a directing method of existing animations, VR animation needs a different method of direction. Existing animations were displayed on a screen in movie theaters. But using an existing direction method for the 360° perspective in a VR animation makes it difficult for the user's gaze to move in a way the directors have intended. I analyzed 3 VR animations with a theoretical background of Rudolf Arnheim's visual perception theory and Bruce Block's visual factors that bring high attention. In the process of perception of space, focus on the gaze, movement of the gaze, the 'movement' factor was used most often to attract the gaze. An interactive VR animation attracts user's gaze by allowing users to participate in important points of the story. With an analysis of the animation, it proposed a gaze attraction through the movement of the character with an interaction directing method for reducing motion sickness. Also, it proposed intuitively attracting gaze movement by using GUI and attracting user's participation by using an interactive event with an interaction directing method of storytelling comprehension. With two types of directing proposal, we expect it to be utilized as a basic research method for attracting users to be immersed in storytelling while reducing cyber motion sickness, which is a problem in VR animation.

  • Applying VR technology to animation areas is emerging as a trend of recent years. So if you use this VR technology in traditional ink animation, 2D art piece is expected to be equipped with a new narrative style and visual and auditory language, making it a new animation genre. There's a lot of technical difficulties in putting the existing 2D ink image on a 360 degree display. VR ink animation has been created that gives depth to VR space by using layer extraction method based on depth of distance and placing layers extracted on curved surface that is aligned with depth in 360-degree space in the image of ink painting, which is the background of traditional ink animation. In the text, we took an overview on problems generated in extracting layers of distant view, close-range view and middle distant view from the existing image of ink painting and made suggestions of an effective way to approach them.

  • VR animation allows you to see 360-degree screen production that cannot be seen in existing animation production while being located in the space within the animation. <Goodbye Mr Octopus>, a VR animation produced in 2020, was selected at the 77th Venice Film Festival as an immersive short film. This is the story of an adolescent girl, Stella, who is celebrating her 16th birthday, and her conflict with her strict father is resolved through a letter from her mother. It is a narrative composed of a total of 11 scenes, and in each scene, new directing elements of VR video grammar, such as gaze induction, time flow, and space conversion directing, were analyzed. Gaze-inducing directing minimized the inconvenience of 360-degree gaze, and time and space conversion directing was analyzed as an effect of increasing the audience's immersion according to narrative events.

  • In comics, panels serve a variety of dramatic purposes, including controlling the flow of the story through the size, placement, and order of panels; directing the eye to where characters or specific actions take place; expressing the passage or sequence of time; and using backgrounds, lighting, and color to emphasize emotion and convey mood. When applied to VR animation, these comic panels can give users a more immersive experience of the cartoon world in the VR space. In the VR animation "Mescaformhill: Missing Five," produced in 2022, the comic panels directing is very important to guide the viewer's attention, and in the VR space, the camera angle can be freely changed to realize various visual effects, and the physical interaction brings the comic panels directing to life. This can open up new ways of storytelling in VR animation and contribute to its successful expansion into new mediums.

  • Augmented Reality, virtual reality in recently attracted attention throughout the world. and Mix them mixed reality etc., it has had a significant impact on the overall pop culture beyond the scope of science and technology. The world's leading IT company : Google, Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, Sony, LG is focusing on development of AR, VR technology for the public. The many large and small companies developed VR hardware, VR software, VR content. It does not look that makes a human a human operation in the cognitive experience of certain places or situations or invisible through Specific platforms or program is Encompass a common technique that a realization of the virtual space. In particular, out of the three-dimensional image reveals the limitations of the conventional two-dimensional structure - 180, 360 degree images provided by the subjective and objective symptoms such as vision and sense of time and got participants to select it. VR technology that can significantly induce the commitment and participation is Industry as well as to the general public which leads to the attention of colostrum. It was introduced more than 10 related VR works Year 2015 Sundance Film Festival New Frontier program. The appearance VR content : medical, architecture, shopping, movies, animations. Also, 360 individuals can be produced by the camera / video sharing VR is becoming an interactive tunnel between two possible users. Nevertheless, This confusion of values, moral degeneration and the realization of a virtual space that has been pointed out that the inherent. 4K or HUD, location tracking, motion sensors, processing power, and superior 3D graphics, touch, smell, 4D technology, 3D audio technology - It developed more than ever and possible approaches to reality. Thereafter, This is because the moral degeneration, identity, generational conflict, and escapism concerns. Animation is also seeking costs in this category Reality. Despite the similarities rather it has that image, and may be the reason that the animation is pushed back to the VR content creation. However, it is focused on the game and VR technology and the platform that is entertaining, but also seek new points within the animation staying in the flat Given that eventually consist of visual images is clear that VR sought. Finally, What is the reality created in the virtual space using VR technology could be applied to the animation? So it can be seen that the common interest is research on what methods and means applied.

  • With the development of virtual reality (VR)-related technology and the advent of the 5G era, VR-based streaming games or content have been developed and transmitted at high speed. Although VR technology is also being applied in education, health care, manufacturing, and production fields, its main application is for entertainment. VR technology has been developed based on hardware and various contents have been developed accordingly; however, the number of VR content with high entertainment value is insufficient, and there are primarily hands-on contents. In this paper, we propose a method for developing an writing tool that can enhance the productivity in the development and editing of VR content and create VR contents based on a timeline by reflecting the storytelling rather than by a simple empirical type to solve the bias in content style. The proposed VR content writing tool is expected to increase the productivity in VR content development and contribute to the creation of various styles of content. Its implementation can enable developers to create specific stories in a timeline and support several animation effects.

  • Mis-en-Scene is a direction method of image aesthetics for constructing screen and space. Mis-en-Scene is important factor not only in plays and movies, but also in animations, and it is a strong method to induce audience to immerse in the works and to continue the immersion. This study examined animation's Mis-en-Scene based on theories of Mis-en-Scene in movies, how Mis-en-Scene is directed and expressed in virtual spaces, and what factors and characteristics induce audience to immerse in the works and continue the immersion through analysis on visual Mis-en-Scene factors of a specific case, VR animation . It was found that as visual Mis-en-Scene factors, character and props, background, unique quality and friendliness of character, natural movement and acting, symbolism and utilization, and variety and consistency of background induce and sustain immersion. It is thought that this study would helpful for related areas based on the findings which suggest that there is a need for differentiated measure and method to catch audience's eyes and sustain immersion utilizing characteristics of vidual Mis-en-Scene factors in VR animation in the future.
