  • Psychological involvement, belief, and attitude as important variables in explaining tourism behavior have been widely examined in the tourism context for its usefulness in differentiating markets. This study investigated foreign tourists' Neo-Han Ryu related trip behaviors based on their psychological involvement, belief, and attitude toward Neo-Han Ryu. A self-administered on-site survey was conducted in January 2010. Three distinctive clusters were identified from cluster analysis. These three segment show sharp contrast in terms of their psychological involvement, attitude and belief about Neo-Han Ryu and thus differ from each other with respect to their behaviors, including satisfaction, intention to revisit, recommendation, and trip expenditure. The results clearly indicate that the segment with a high Neo-Han Ryu involvement reported stronger intention to revisit and recommendation to others compared to the less involved segments. The findings provides important implications to the marketers regarding how to utilize Neo-Han Ryu to expand Korean inbound market and how to select target markets.

  • This paper examines Internet banking attitudes associated with demographics and motivations for Internet banking subscribers to access their online banking sites. To find out the relationships among demographics, motivation, and attitude, I conducted ANOVA and regression analysis using survey data. The results of the paper found that age group and experience were significant demographic variable impacting motivation of economic benefits and users with much experience. Male users had stronger motivation of entertainment and getting better information than female users. Users with longer experience and frequent visitors had positive attitude on financial products. All motivation factors had influences on attitudes on both of financial products and Internet banking. This study suggests the features of Internet banking attitudes and motivations by demographics, from which we can figure out how to motivate Internet banking users for them not only to actively access their online banks rather than visit banks in person but also to have positive attitudes on their banks and Internet banking.

  • Purposes: The purpose of this study was to empirically analyze the effect of the attitude of medical staff providing medical services on the treatment satisfaction of the patients who experienced outpatient care at the hospitals and clinics. In particular, it was verified whether the courtesy of the medical staff to the outpatients has moderated the effect of the medical staff's explanation on the treatment satisfaction. Methodology: After controlling the socio-demographic factors of the outpatients with their treatment and waiting time, multiple regression analyses were conducted to figure out the effect of the attitude of the medical staff on the treatment satisfaction. And the covariance analyses were adopted to verify the moderating effect of the variables of the medical staff. Findings: At both hospitals and clinics, all attitudes of medical staff such as the way they explain to and communicate with the patients, and their courtesy showed positive effects on treatment satisfaction. Among them, the courtesy of the medical staff was the most influential variable on the satisfaction of the treatment, and it only had the control power over the effect of the way they explain on the treatment satisfaction. Practical Implication: Among the medical staff's attitudes toward patients at hospital or clinic level, the courtesy of doctors and nurses is an important factor in improving treatment satisfaction. In particular, if the level of their courtesy is low among the medical services rendered at the clinics, the satisfaction level will decrease even if the level of explanation of the medical staff is high. Therefore, in terms of hospital management, treatment satisfaction can be improved when doctors and nurses provide medical services to visitors with polite, humble and friendly manner in explaining to and communicating with the patients.

  • The purpose of this study was to look for useful implications in its next application or similar planning by assessing visitors' recognition of International Garden Exposition Suncheon Bay Korea 2013. To do this, blogs acknowledged as powerful communication media in modern information society were used. After searching for blogs related to International Garden Exposition Suncheon Bay Korea in the portal site ranked first in the domestic market share, this study classified 300 cases. This study was able to grasp the consciousness as bloggers gave descriptions of information and impressions and experiences of spaces without making any adjustments. The survey results are as follows: First, Dutch gardens were the most preferred, followed by Korean gardens, Chinese gardens and French gardens; in general, visitors were not satisfied with the national gardens. Inquiry is needed into the method of determining diverse cultural identity rather than a sample garden type through blogs delivering regret regarding the world gardens. Second, the survey results showed that the level of awareness of designers' gardens was low. This study judges that more emphasis should be placed on their roles as places speaking for the original purpose of the garden exposition which introduces gardening art and design through experimental design. Third, it was understood that many bloggers were deeply impressed by ephemeral landscapes like the change in landscape consequent on the elapse of time, distinctive atmosphere, and detailed-landscapes. These aspects are important landscape elements, and those elements should be addressed with weight in a subsequent study. Fourth, the most impressive places are 'Suncheon Lake Garden' and 'Bridge of Dreams', which are establishing themselves as icons of International Garden Exposition Suncheon Bay Korea 2013. However, relatively, public attitude towards the world gardens and designers' gardens are weak. Fifth, bloggers were providing a variety of information like transportation, events schedules, ticket purchasing & prices, discount information, etc. Ticket price was commented on the most, and most of the bloggers thought ticket prices were 'expensive'. This study understands such a phenomenon as a result of the general population's non-establishment of the perception that it's proper to view gardens at visitors' own expense. Generally, bloggers expressed satisfaction with International Garden Exposition Suncheon Bay Korea 2013, but with criticism as well. Their criticism included disappointing matters, to be improved upon and wishes without any distortion, providing meaningful implications deserving reference for similar cases. In this context, a blogger could be called a citizen-reviewer while a blog could be referred to as 'a field of informal discourse' for the public. As a research method of this study, blogs are difficult to interpret as they are subjective and personal, and have limited data analysis through their quantifications; however, blogs as methods of recognition survey are channels for varied, concrete and detailed awareness which are hard to grasp through a questionnaire survey or interviews. This study judges that such an aspect of a blog could be a useful means of grasping and reflecting upon visitors' attitude in future studies.

  • Eco-tourism has been recognized as a form of sustainable development that simultaneously satisfies the need for environmental preservation and the activation of local economies. Although some research findings relating to its positive environmental and social effects have been published, there is still controversy regarding its pros and cons in terms of its actual economic benefits, and little research about how they can be increased. Thus, the following research analyzes how the tour activities, attitudes and satisfaction of 314 actual visitors was related with their consumption behaviors, by surveying tourists to Suncheon Bay, a highly popular destination with a large number of visitors. The results are as follows. First, if the tourists were involved in a link-up tour, had prior eco-tourism experience, or had researched information on SunCheon bay eco-tourism before their visit, these were all positively correlated with consumption behaviors, and increased the amount of money they spent. In particular, among tour spending activities, accommodation cost is shown to be highly correlated with tour activities. Second, Free Independent Tourist(FIT) tended to show more positive tour attitudes than package tourists, spending more on accommodation and experience programs. The visitors to SunCheon Bay showed strong environmental attitudes, followed by social and cultural attitudes, and economic attitudes, in that order, and tourists with positive attitudes had a high rate of participation in experience programs. In addition, program participants showed a willingness to donate, and high satisfaction. Therefore, the following thesis proposes that Free Independent Tourist(FIT) should be induced to increase their contribution to the local eco-tourism economy, and highlights the need to develop various experience programs, aggressive advertisements and educational activities.
