A study has been made of surface modification of organic materials by ion implantation to increase the surface electrical properties. The substrate used were PET(polyethylene teraphtalate). N$^{+}$, Ar$^{+}$ implantation was peformed at energies of 40 keV and 50 keV with fluences from $5{\times}10^{15}$, $1{\times}10^{16}$,$7{\times}10^{16}$, $1{\times}10^{17}$/ ions/$cm^2$. UV/Vis, FT-IR and XPS spectroscopy measured for surface structure changes. Surface resistance decrease of implanted polymers was affected by ion implantation energy, ion species and ion dose rate. Surface conductivity of PET increased $2{\times}10^{9}$/∼$2{\times}10^{10}$/$\Omega$/sq by ion implantation. Result of various spectroscopy analysis, the cause of increasing PET surface conductivity was expected to breaking C=O bonds. It was formation carbon network structure by promote cross-linking and create C-C, C=C bonds.
A 2D grid-like (4, 4)-connected topology coordination polymer, $[Co(BTA)_2(H_2O)_2]_n$ (1), where HBTA = 2-(1H-benzotriazol-1-yl)acetic acid, has been synthesized by hydrothermal method and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS). X-ray diffraction analyses indicated that 1 displays octahedral metal centers with secondary building units (SBUs) [$Co(BTA)_2(H_2O)_2$] bridged by the $BTA^-$ ligands. In the crystal, the 2D supramolecular architecture is further supported by $O-H{\cdots}O$, $O-H{\cdots}N$, $C-H{\cdots}O$ hydrogen bonds and ${\pi}{\cdots}{\pi}$ stacking interactions. The SPS of polymer 1 indicates that there are positive response bands in the range of 300-600 nm showing photo-electric conversion properties. There are good relationships between SPS and UV-Vis spectra.
Thin films of the SiO2-TiO2-PDMS composite material have been prepared by the sol-gel dip coating method. Acid catalyzed solutions of tetraethoxy silane (TEOS) and polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS) mixed with titanium isopropoxide Ti(OiPr) were used as precursors. The optical and structural properties of the organically modified 70SiO2-30TiO2 composite films have been investigated with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV-Visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and prism coupling technique. The films coated on the soda-lime-silicate glass exhibit 450-750 nm thickness, 1.56-1.68 refractive index and 88-94% transmittance depending on the experimental parameters such as amount of PDMS, thermal treatment and heating rate. The optical loss of prepared composite film was measured to be about 0.34 dB/cm.
In order to develop catechin patches for skin regeneration at wound sites, patches with varying concentrations of catechin and chitosan were manufactured. An optimal composition ratio was determined by adjusting the drug release rate and amount, to maximize efficiency. The catechin used in this study was extracted from green tea leaves using a solvent/ultrasonication method, and its characteristics were confirmed through Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analyses. Patches were prepared with different concentrations of catechin and chitosan, and various properties were analyzed using techniques such as FT-IR, water contact angle analysis, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. It was observed that as the chitosan concentration increased, the release of catechin slowed down or almost ceased. A patch manufactured with 1.5 mg/cm2 of catechin at a 1 % chitosan concentration exhibited a high initial release rate over 24 h and demonstrated cellular biocompatibility. Consequently, these patches, with tailored release characteristics based on the concentrations of chitosan and catechin, hold promise for use as drug delivery systems in wound healing applications.

We prepared a working electrode (WE) coated with 0 ~ 50 nm-thick indium gallium zinc oxide(IGZO) by using RF sputtering to improve the energy conversion efficiency (ECE) of a dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC). Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) were used to analyze the microstructure and composition of the IGZO layer. UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy was used to determine the transparency of the WE with IGZO layers. A solar simulator and a potentiostat were used to confirm the photovoltaic properties of the DSSC with IGZO layer. From the results of the microstructural analysis, we were able to confirm the successful deposition of an amorphous IGZO layer with the expected thickness and composition. From the UV-VIS-NIR analysis, we were able to verify that the transparency decreased when the thickness of IGZO increased, while the transparency was over 90% for all thicknesses. The photovoltaic results show that the ECE became 4.30% with the IGZO layer compared to 3.93% without the IGZO layer. As the results show that electron mobility increased when an IGZO layer was coated on the $TiO_2$ layer, it is confirmed that the ECE of a DSSC can be enhanced by employing an appropriate thickness of IGZO on the $TiO_2$ layer.
A novel material, $Bi_2WO_6-GO-TiO_2$ composite, was successfully synthesized using a facile hydrothermal method. During the hydrothermal reaction, the loading of $Bi_2WO_6$ and $TiO_2$ nanoparticles onto graphene sheets was achieved. The obtained $Bi_2WO_{6-GO-TiO2}$ composite photo-catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis-DRS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The $Bi_2WO_6$ nanoparticle showed an irregular dark-square block nanoplate shape, while $TiO_2$ nanoparticles covered the surface of the graphene sheets with a quantum dot size. The degradation of rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue trihydrate (MB), and reactive black B (RBB) dyes in an aqueous solution with different initial amount of catalysts was observed by UV spectrophotometry after measuring the decrease in the concentration. As a result, the $Bi_2WO_6-GO-TiO_2$ composite showed good decolorization activity with MB solution under visible light. The $Bi_2WO_6-GO-TiO_2$ composite is expected to become a new potential material for decolorization activity. Photocatalytic reactions with different photocatalysts were explained by the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model and a band theory.

In this study, we investigated various coating methods of graphene oxide on the surface of a petri dish made of polystyrene and analyzed the physical and chemical properties of the coated surface. For coating, spinning, spraying and pressing methods were attempted. The coated surface was characterized by SEM, Raman Spectroscopy, AFM, FT-IR, UV-Vis Spectroscopy and Contact Angle measurement. By spin coating and spray coating, well distributed graphene oxide in the form of multiple islands on the plastic surface with an average size of 5 to 20㎛ are observed by SEM, and high binding energy between graphene oxide and plastic surface is measured by AFM. In case of hand press coating, graphene oxide of 10㎛ or more was observed, and low surface energy was measured. By FT-IR and Raman Spectroscopy analysis, surface coating of graphene oxide was confirmed.
In this study various cleaning evaluation methods were tested and comparatively evaluated to help cleaning industry. In order to select alternative cleaning agents objectively and systematically, various cleaning evaluation methods such as gravimetric, optically simulated electron emission (OSEE), contact angle, and analytical instrument methods were employed for cleaning contaminants such as flux, solder and grease. The analytical instruments used in this work were Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), ultraviolet visible spectroscopy (UV-VIS) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The gravimetric method was able to measure cleaning efficiencies easily and simply, but it was not easy to analyze them precisely because of its limitation in the gravimetric measurement. However, the OSEE technique was able to measure quickly and precisely the clean ability of cleaning agents in comparison with the gravimetric method. The contact angle method was found to be necessary for taking special precaution in its application to the cleaning evaluation due to possible formation of tiny organic film on the substrate surface which might be generated from contaminants and cleaning agents. In case of precision analysis that cannot be done by gravimetric method, fine analytical instruments such as UV-VIS, FTIR and HPLC could be used in analyzing trace amount of flux, solder and grease quantitatively, which were extracted from the surface by special solvents.
In optoelectronic devices including displays and solar cells that convert electricity into light or light into electricity, it is important to control optical behavior of light to improve device efficiency. Specifically, the control of internal emitting light in the OLEDs can induce more light to go out, improving luminous efficiency. In addition, the control of optical behavior of incident light in solar cells can increase optical path in the light absorption layer, increasing power-conversion efficiency. In this study, we generated wrinkles as a physical structure to control optical behavior of light and independently controlled their wavelength and height by changing stress relaxation time. To explore the effect of wavelength and height on optical behavior, we conducted UV/Vis spectroscopy analysis of wrinkles with various heights at a constant wavelength or various wavelengths at a comparable height, figuring out a wrinkle with high aspect ratio has more dispersive light and less straight light. It indicates that high aspect ratio is required to change the optical behavior and increase the optical path.
In this study, polymer additives were extracted and separated by Soxhlet extraction method and the dissolution-precipitation method from a polycarbonate (optical grade) which completely absorbed UV light below 390 nm. Analytical techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR, and HPLC were applied to analyze additives in polycarbonate. Separated materials from the polycarbonate may be a complex mixture containing additives such as UV stabilizer, antioxidants (primary and secondary), monomers, and oligomers. Several compounds such as bisphenol A, Irganox 1010, and Cyasorb UV-5411 were identified by chromatograms and UV spectra obtained from RP HPLC analysis using Bondapak $C_{18}$ column, methanol mobile phase, and a photodiode array (PDA) detector. Also, the content of UV-5411 in the polycarbonate was about 0.12 wt% by a quantitative analysis through UV spectroscopy.
